Twirls....thank you  I wish you would have gotten one more time in this world to visit your turquoise water...I'm so grateful you shared this place with me, we never know what the universe has in store for us...I had so many wonderful days there and met so many wonderful people...you'll always be in my heart...until we meet again

Holly and I were staying at the Cabanas Tulum in Oct. 2012. Some kids were on the beach and Holly gave them sunglasses

Thanks Bernie.  Thought that was him and thought that was Cammie but could not remember her name.  DougSR was sure could stir the pot!

(I did not write this. Her friend Jan did)

Hollis J Budd
September 4, 1956-March 17, 2020.
Hollis J Budd (Holly) passed away peacefully in her home early morning Tuesday, March 17, 2020, surrounded by the ones who loved and cared for her.
To all that knew her, Holly Budd was a generous, and uniquely saucy lady that always made her presence known when she entered a room. Holly led her life with great enthusiasm for friends, travel, gardening and her love for animals, always planning the next gathering, meal or travel excursion with no detail overlooked. Her sense of humor would always shine through no matter the occasion. Holly was genuine to a fault, a lion at heart, and yet she sugar coated nothing. She was known for her elaborate, over the top, entertaining stories that kept you on the edge of your seat waiting to hear more. Holly’s love for Mexico, the sand, the sun and the ocean were certainly contagious. She loved the sand beneath her feet and a cold margarita (top shelf of course) in her hand. She loved to travel, laughed inappropriately at every chance and always played by her own rules. Her love for animals, all animals, from a very young age continued throughout her lifetime, and she consistently made charitable contributions to various animal rescue shelters from coast to coast. She was a fantastic cook and loved to have her friends and family gather for a feast. As she got older, she loved to dine out on the finest cuisine and even finer wines. Holly took great pride in the beautiful flower gardens she designed and created and would take pleasure in basking in the beauty of her hard work. Holly had many blessings in her life including being married to the love or her life Jay Budd and they lived life to the fullest. All who knew and loved her will never forget her tenacity for life, her wit, her charm and sometimes even grace. Holly will be greatly missed by many! In lieu of flowers please give to the American Lung Cancer Association at lung.org. Holly was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Betty King of Kansas City, her brother Bill King Jr. of Kansas City and her beloved husband Mr. Jay Budd of Nixa.
If there is a heaven for me, I’m sure there is a beach attached to it. - Jimmy Buffett

Thanks for posting that JJ!

Jan had also posted the following a few days ago.

From Holly's friend Jan Gravley on Facebook
To all of Holly's friends, I have been getting a lot of calls from far and wide about Holly's arrangements. She did not want a traditional memorial service or funeral. She was cremated and her ashes are going to be spread according to her wishes. Some are going to her happy place in Mexico, some with Jay to the place that they met, some to other special places. She also wanted a memorial page on her Loco Gringo forum and her dear friend Paul has done that for her and there are lots of lovely stories, photos and memories there. As far as what you can do in her memory I suggest that any donations in her name should go to the American Cancer Society Smoking cessation program and help line. I will post a link and a telephone number in this post.

The photo is one of my favorites. It's from the mid 80's at a Hawaiian Luau party that she had at her home when she still lived in KC. No one ever looked better than Miss Holly in a bikini, right up until the end.

Phone number for donations 800-227-2345 option#2
https://www.cancer.org/…/stay-a…/guide-quitting-smoking.html
If you would prefer to donate to any animal rescue we all know how important that was to her and she made arrangements for that in her will. Thanks everyone.

For me, Holly was a person you might not see often, but when you got back together again, it was always like you had just seen each other the day before.

After our first meeting in 2005, Holly and I kept in touch through emails and phone calls, and I went to see Mom Betty off and on before she moved to the lake with Holly and Jay.

The next time I saw Holly was at Mom Betty's memorial on June 9, 2012. After the memorial and BBQ at Woodyards, we went to Jan's house, and I truly felt like part of Holly's life.

This is a photo I took of Holly with her best friend Jan (on the left) and Carrie (don't remember who she is).

On June 11, 2012, I posted this message to Holly on the BC:
I just want to tell Holly, that the service was beautiful, and you did an awesome job with Mom Betty’s eulogy. You did it her way girl, and I know Mom Betty was very, very pleased with her celebration of life!! When you were watching the tape of the Belmont Stakes, Jan and I agreed that she is living on in you!

I love this pic of Holly at Jan's really "getting into" the Belmont Stakes and living on in Mom Betty!

Over the years, because of my friendship with Holly, I met some awesome friends of hers and several wonderful Loco Gringos! This is a photo of Holly at Jan's with one of her childhood friends, Paul.

Anyway, I hope someone is enjoying my Twirley pics cause there are quite a few more to come!

Glad you liked that picture, Catalina and Gem.

This next picture was also from May 2012. Holly and I collected seaweed to make this little note to her Mom.
I believe Betty passed away not too long after Holly got back home, although I'm not sure if that year is correct  ?
