Akumal

It has been so long since I've been on here and I don't know how to navigate this new forum. I've been reading on TA that Akumal now has a gate and that you have to pay to go snorkel there?
We are thinking of staying on Half Moon Bay in a condo but might start looking in Tulum if it's going to be a pain to snorkel.
Can anyone give me some info on what's happened in the last 2 years?
We are planning on being there Nov 23 - 26 and then going into Valladolid for a couple of days, then finishing with 3 days on Holbox.
Thanks!

Hi Ronda!  So nice to see you again!!!

We haven't been to Akumal for a couple of years either ~ we've been going to Isla Mujeres and enjoying the sargassum free beaches there!  I was going to suggest that you go to the Other Topics Page and post your question on The Breakfast Club.

I'm so jealous that you're going to Holbox ~ I've always wanted to go!

Have a wonderful trip wherever you go!!!

We go every November. Still great, but different. So glad to "see" you.

I was just looking up where to book for winter 2020 and saw this!  Susy - Is there good snorkeling on Isla Mujeres?  And does anyone know if it clears up enough to snorkel on HMB these days?  I so love it there but spend 3/4 of my day on the reef. Thanks!!

Nobody can predict the sargassum situation.........

Isla only has 1 place with any snorkeling to speak of. Garrafon.

If you are going to Valladolid, try to be there on Sunday. quite festive and dancing in the street at dusk to an orchestra.
