High Flight Prices During Low Season?!

Hi! I am beginning my next trip back and looking at departing MN for Cancun July 10, 2019. Apparently this is "low season" and from all online articles, when hotels and flights should be their lowest. However.....what I am seeing is that June and July flight predictors and current prices are very high.

What am I doing wrong? Will flights drop and I should wait? Why so high?
Help!

Melissa

May is too.  I am having trouble restraining my husband.  I think 90 days out is about optimal price wise.

It's strange to me that prices during spring break months are about $100-$200 less than low season July.

I watch prices constantly and we used to fly exclusively out of MSP, but now we mainly fly out of Duluth and connect in either  MSP or ORD and I usually see the best prices at 2-3 months out. I know it is difficult to wait to book a flight, but waiting has saved us a lot of $$ over the years. What I have read is that the big airlines wait until 60-90 days out to see how much unsold inventory (seats) they have remaining and then adjust their prices. If I were planning a trip for July I would get serious about booking around the end of April. I also have signed up to several of the booking sites, like Airfarewatchdog & Bookingbuddy and get regular updates when prices drop. Good Luck!

    Wag more....bark less.

I heard oil prices are slated to go up. Which means the price of jet fuel = higher ticket price.

Agree with the waiting game. Flights shouldn't be booked up for low season so just use one of those sites that notify when airfares drop or get on the mailing list for your preferred airline.

I wouldn't worry. We just booked Boston to Cancun $400 rt non stop for late February. Prices were literally changing by the minute from $400 to $700.
