Welcome Murrey, I guess I haven't really paid attention to washroom accessibility here, but i certainly will. Do you mean at restaurants only or?

We were glad to see our old friend Bosco show up yesterday and we gathered in front of the webcam at Cancun Billy's.
Left to right- Catalina, Bosco, Twirley, and Babs

The view from the rooftop

A new burger and wings place opened last week on Rojo Gomez across from Salchicium, we haven't tried it yet and may not get there this trip

One thing we miss here is not being able to find good breakfast sausage, so this trip I brought down a bag of spices that I had made up and mixed them with ground pork from Chedraui to make my own. Turned out really good and went well with the mango pancakes that I made this morning

Badger, I was actually thinking about wheelchair access to the bathroom and general traveling in the hotel. They may have a couple units adapted. Is there any way to call them directly? I know most folks wouldn't think about that unless they needed them. Thanks for responding

I want some of that sausage.  Yum.

Great pics of the group and view.

I know that Badger/Paul will find that out for you Xwheelerx.  He is that kind of guy.  Another good resource is the Trip Advisor Puerto Morelos forum.  A mix of visitors and people that live there who can offer you a lot of useful info.

Tricky, I'll send you a PM when we get back next week.

Xw, I did a walk around Hacienda Morelos yesterday and I don't think it is suitable for you. I am a contractor and have done a lot of remodeling for people with mobility issues and HM has many challenges for you, especially with the washroom access. In the guest rooms there is no room to shut the bathroom door once you are inside if you are in a wheelchair and there is also a solid 4" lip at the entrance to the shower. The public washrooms are even worse, with a 2' wide opening into the toilet area. I will try to get some photos up later today and will continue to see if I can find someplace more suitable for you to stay.
EDIT: I just had a thought, are you on Facebook? I am not, but I have been told that there are at least two Facebook groups centered in PM made up of expats that live here. Your best bet to find accessible accommodations might be to ask there.
Here is the link to one of them.

No, I am not a giant, I am 6' 1", but this photo shows just how tiny this lovely Mayan lady is. We have seen her for years in Puerto Morelos, she walks the beach and the city streets begging for money. I always gave her whatever I could, but just recently found out her story. We were told by an American that lives here that she and her husband owned some valuable property that they put in their children's names. The children promptly sold the land and left them with nothing but a small hut to live in. The condition of the hut was so bad that some locals recently took up a collection to make some much needed improvements so that it was at least livable. When you give her any pesos she always gives you a big smile and a blessing. I have to say that both Twirley and Catalina were VERY generous this trip in the amount of money they gave her.

Thanks Crunch, you're the best!

A few random photos from the last couple of days.

One of my favorite meals here is this Torta Carne Asada from Caribelos , at 35 pesos a filling lunch for less than $2 U.S.

Their hot Salsa has always been one that I liked, but this time it was different, with chunks of tomato and I thought even better flavor than in the past

About one millisecond before I snapped this photo there was a beautiful Oriole sitting at the top of this tree

The construction around the square is proceeding at a rapid pace, I think they will be done in the next few days.

Bosco took us out to dinner Friday night at Maiz Maiz, a relatively new place North of Cantina Habaneros, good authentic Mexican food at reasonable prices. This is Bosco's Huarache

And I had two different kinds of yummy tacos

xwheelerx, this is a newer condo on the ground floor for rent just down the street to the South of Hacienda Morelos that might better suit your needs. It also has a decent ocean view. The front door looks nice and wide, at least 36". You may need a Spanish speaker to contact them at this phone number. I'll try to get a better photo later today.
BTW, the main bar/restaurant and outside patio at Hacienda Morelos should not present any challenges for you getting around there.

Yesterday we had a little excitement, Babs had flagged down a fruit & veggie truck to buy a few things and our next door neighbor also went down and made a purchase. A short time later the neighbor couldn't find her small purse that contained all of her money and credit cards. I told them the truck might have gone to the North end of town and that we were headed that way and would look for it. Off they went on bicycles and a few minutes later we left by taxi. We spotted the fruit truck and told the taxista "Follow that truck!!" Chased him down and honked the horn until he pulled over. The fruit guy was very nice and searched his truck, but no purse. Happily, we got home later and there was a note on our door that they had found the purse in their condo, hubby is in big trouble for moving it from it's normal spot.

Ended up at Unico beach bar to see our old friends Javier and Mariano. Mariano is a cook there and made us his "special" giant onion rings (not on the menu).

We shared the onion rings and this yummy BBQ pollo sandwich

Later, a vendor came buy and I bought a full cup of fried grasshoppers (chapulines) for only 50 pesos. I ate a handful and no, they did not make me jumpy!

We are a little worried about our friend Roy, we haven't been able to find him for our breakfast tacos the last couple of days, but we did find another vendor selling tacos near the square.

We each had one chicken and one pork, not bad, but nowhere near as tasty as Roy's.

Thanks Tooter, where in Wisconsin did you live?

Crunch, I'm glad my man card is intact!

Yes, Bosco, we need to do another walk-a-bout.

Stopped by Hacienda Morelos yesterday to say our goodbyes and get one more look at that view

For dinner we split an order of breaded shrimp at El P

I had a little fun with one of the new waiters at El P last night, just after i took the photo I put a couple of the fried grasshoppers on my plate and then made a big deal out of it. The manager Felipe and other waiters were in on it and gave him a hard time until we all burst out in laughter.

On our quest to find Roy this morning Babs spotted this Kiskadee nest

And we managed to find our amigo Roy! He said he has been gone the last few days because his permit needed to be renewed. If you ever stop to see him, make sure to tell him Pablo sent you!

I had two tacos this morning, one had pork in a spicy tomato sauce, the other smoked pork with potatoes, both were excellent

That's about it for this report for now as we are traveling home today, although, mi amiga Catalina has promised to share her photos with me in the near future, when she does I will post some more. Thanks for your comments!

What a great trip Pablo and Babs.  Love the pic of you and tiny Mayan woman and the heartfelt gift given to Babs. Funny story about messing with the new waiters at El P and nice you caught up with Roy again.

Wonderful pics and great memories.  Thanks for taking time to share and safe travels home.  MB

Funny one you pulled on the waiter.  I cannot believe you split that entree with Babs.  I would have needed all those shrimp to myself LOL!
