Crunch, the dish Babs had is described as "Spider Crab and Baby Shrimp in Pita Bread". Babs said it was good, not great.

I'm a bit surprised no one commented on the drooping cigarette photo.

We haven't done much the last couple of days, yesterday we did the bag drag to Hacienda Morelos and had to wait a couple of hours to get into our room, dinner last night at EL Pesquero where we made a couple of new friends, who we are meeting for dinner tonight. Breakfast yesterday was at Roy's food truck.

We love to sit on our balcony in the morning, sipping coffee and watching the cruise ships go by

Wag more....bark less.

Board outside Hacienda Morelos offered this strange sounding soup of the day, which despite the name turned out to be vegetable soup

Tooter and Crunch, thank you, your comments make me want to post even more photos.

Breakfast today at Hacienda Morelos, it comes with fresh fruit, toast and choice of drink

Lunch yesterday was at one of our favorite places for cheap, authentic Mexican food, Tuch Tlan. Babs had a salbute that she said was so good that she wants to go back there for lunch again today.

And I had this enormous serving of Chiliquiles

We got a kick out of this sign at My Paradise Beach Club

Even I was not brave enough to try the shrimps-on-a-stick that this guy was trying to sell, shrimp+tropical temps is probably not a good idea.

Later there was a pretty decent 2 man band playing at Unico

Wag more....bark less.

Crunch, funny thing is that at dinner last night Jon said he had eaten the shrimp-on-a-stick and it was good. So now, if I see that guy again, I'll have to try them.
Also, he asked if we had tried DK and we told him that we had when they first opened. Food was OK, but they refused to make me a margarita, insisting that I try one of the drinks on their menu, which I could barely drink. So, no, we haven't been back.

Lunch yesterday was indeed back to Tuch Tlan

I had a Salbute and a Tostada, Babs a Salbute, with 1 beer and 1 coke the total bill was 98 pesos before tip, or just over $5 U.S.

For dinner we went up to La Colonia to dine with our friends Jon & Alicia from Casa Toucan. We ate at a place called Chilpayas, famous for their Veracruz style seafood, which was delicious

Treated ourselves to Eggs Benedict at El Nicho this morning, great, as always

With the abnormally cool (for them) temps many of the locals are wearing their heaviest clothes this morning

Badger, all the food looks amazing.  Love those shrimp sticks.  I for one have not seen that down there.  Hope you run into the guy again and try one.  What a great time and love the pot luck poster.  Thanks so much for taking the time to post all these pics with descriptions.  Carry on and have a fabulous time.  Local folks are really bundled up there. MB

Thanks, Tooter, MB, & Crunch!

We took a couple of walks yesterday morning, then stopped at La Sirena for lunch, where I had a very good fish sandwich

Tried watching the Green Bay Packer game online, but that didn't work out too well, so we journeyed down to My Paradise for Happy Hour.  Had a light dinner from Caribelos, and on our way back to our room saw this "Band of Santas" playing in the square

Christmas tree in the square

A Carnival cruise ship sailed by on it's way to Coz this morning

Breakfast was here at Hacienda Morelos, Babs tried the French toast, lotsa sugar, no syrup

It all looks so good! (except for no syrup. Not even any cajeta? That would have been interesting.)
The parkas crack me up. A week ago today, people were still wearing shorts. In Wisconsin. In December.

Cinnamon sugar yum.  Who needs syrup?

One of our favorite things in PM is walking back from dinner and checking out whatever is happening that night in the square.  Basketball, music, arts and crafts, but we have never seen santas!

Did you read how GB almost lost the game?  to the Browns!!

Dang Badger, I want the eggs Benedict with extra hollandaise early morning and then that fish sandwich mid-afternoon.  What a great day with the Santa band and love the tree and other Christmas decorations.  How did Babs like that french toast?  Enjoy. MB

Thanks again, ladies. Since Babs is diabetic she really didn't want any syrup or cajeta, I know that they have it as I saw someone with pancakes and syrup this morning. As it was, she only ate about half of the French toast and you-know-who got the rest. Pretty tasty.
Yes, Crunch, you never know what you'll find in the square at night and no one here seems to ever know in advance what is going to happen there.

Highlight of the day yesterday was a invitation to dinner at Jon & Alicia's newly remodeled place, Casa Toucan.

A view of the pool and hot tub

The large, open, airy, main room, this photo does not do it justice, love those fans!

This bed is out on their huge balcony, looks like a nice place to have a little siesta

Desayuno this morning for me

And Babs had the fruit and granola

LOL Badger.  That is a lot of space after that tiny little head banging bunk bed they lived in during construction!

There's just something about breakfast in Mexico.  Do omelets and potatoes ever taste better?!  Such a disappointment at restaurants when we get back home.

A few more pix from our last couple of days.

Hogfish at El Pesquero, before

And after

One afternoon there was a parade  around the square that ended up at the Catholic church for some kind of ceremony

A bloody mary and a mango smoothie from Pangea

At least once a week, Caribelos has tamales for sale

Cappuccino one morning at Hacienda Morelos

Found a new place on Ninos Heros that serves gringas and tacos al pastor

Tacos al Pastor, cheap and delicious

Okay, that's about it for photos, thanks for your comments. All in all, a great trip, very relaxing, nice to see so many old friends and make some new ones.

A few minor annoyances...

Selfie sticks: some days it seemed you couldn't get anywhere near the beach without somebody in your way taking a selfie.

Cellphones at dinner: One of my pet peeves, a couple or sometimes an entire family sits down in a restaurant and spends most of their time there on their cellphones instead of talking to each other.

Drones: only saw them a couple of times, but when i am trying to watch the sun come up and suddenly a whining drone pops up in front of me....I may be bringing a slingshot with me next trip.

Maybe you already know this, but I read that Puerto Morelos has applied to become a Mexico Magic Town.
