TeriA - Thanks for your great report.  I always enjoy your reports.  We're also long-time visitors to Akumal, ABR, and ABBWR and agree with most all of your comments.  We know what you mean about the spoon-shortage.  So much so, that I usually keep a plastic spoon in my purse, just in case.   [I enjoyed watching your vow renewal on the webcam - forget how many years ago that's been.]

It's kind of hard to believe, but, it's been six years since our vow renewal.  Time has just flown by.

Here is the photo shoot we had done at the resort.  Nilo the photographer was great, lots of fun, and made these two old fogies look good.

I'll be uploading all the pics by Sunday, but, til then, here are some random pics from my phone.
Alex and Karla, just so cute together.  So glad we spent more time talking to Karla than we had in the past.  She was always so busy, it was great to get to know her.  She is absolutely adorable, and Alex lights up when he talks about her.  No dancing for Alex this time though, he just had surgery on both his feet, so he was sidelined.  Oh, and the three of us are the braces triplets.  Tim is not allowed to join our club.

A shot of the outskirts of hurricane Irma.
Sio
Moonlight on the water one gorgeous evening.

Another shot of Irma, I haven't been able to resort the order of the pictures.

And another night with amazing moonlight.

A passing storm at sunset.  I love this time of year.  The thunderstorms are epic, the rain is so warm, and the breeze gets rid of the mossies for a while.

The view from our penthouse roof top balcony.  Building 3, in my humble opinion, is the best building on the entire resort. Close enough to not have to walk very far to and from the room, but, far enough to not hear the band in the main bar if you don't want to, or the commotion at the main pool during the day.  Nothing like trying to take a nap and suddenly somebody is yelling over the loud speaker the aqua gym instructions.  Oh, and building 3 and 4 both have the unobstructed sound of the sea all night long.

Proof that there really are monsters under the bed.  We sent this pic to our 15 year old who freaked out.  I don't think she will ever want to use the Bali beds.  Her loss.

This was the view from our palapa in front of building 3 on our first day.  I can still hear the waves.

Breakfast on our first day.  Now, tell me, is there any better way to eat any meal at all?  I think not.

That's me standing on the pathway.  Tim wanted a picture of me, the moon and the sparkling water.

So, that's it for now, stand by for more.

This tree is literally growing out of the walls of the ruins.  The jungle takes back what it wants.
This tree is enormous.  It's hard to do it justice, but, it is huge.

At the Xel Ha ruins you can walk right up onto the structures and really get a feel for how the Mayans lived.

The ruins contain several color murals.  We were only able to see the one in the front palace.  The mosquitos drove us out of the jungle as there was no air movement at all and it was so oppressively hot, even by Mexico standards.

This door was shaped like an arrow pointing up.  Still researching what that might mean, I'm sure Tim has figured it out but I just thought it was cool.

Teri Ann, loving your photos~I always thought it would be fun to do a photo shoot.  Maybe next year.  We too, will return, there is just something about that place and the memories.  We first went for our anniversary back in 2004.  Have lived through the changes and still it calls to us.
I totally agree with building 3.  This year I asked for building 1, room 1103 and got it.  NEVER again!  Way too busy on that end of the beach!  Live and learn.
We're already booked for next June.  My birthday and retirement party!!!

I loved looking at your pictures and reading your blog-
I found it to be extra hot on some days as well. I think the heat index was well above 100* some days. I especially love your flora and fauna pics! The lizards are comical to watch and I truly love all the beautiful flowers that grow in the tropics. We'll have to visit the Xel Ha ruins next time. we really love the history and artifacts of the area.
Thanks again, Teri, for the fab report!

Wow! What a fun report! I don't visit LG that much these days so I just "discovered" this. Y'alls room preferences are just like they would be for Crunchie and me. We stayed in that building before the renovations.
Gracias!
