Any word on Franklin? Looks like it came ashore in the Mahahual area.

Franklin was NOT a hurricane...Just a tropical storm. Mostly rain but that is what is expected in the Tropics.

Franklin WAS  a Tropical Storm when it hit mostly north of the Majahual area on Monday. After it crossed the Yucatan and entered the Bay of Campeche it was then upgraded to a hurricane late on Wednesday. It was near Veracruz when that upgrade occurred.

Thanks. Info is scarce to non existant. Have not been able to get accurate location of landfall other than "about 85 miles south of Cozumel", and 85 mph winds and 5-6ft tidal surge. Still have not been able to contact friend in Mahahaul. We were there shortly after Dean and return every year,so I am concerned.

I was on Cozumel when Dean came through. Cozumel had a light sprinkle of rain and no wind but the mainland from Akumal south was impacted by a category 5 hurricane. Fingers crossed for your friends but this storm was nothing like that one so hopefully all is well.
