It was an interesting trip. My wife's father built this boat back in the 80s. We inherited it when he died, we sold it to a guy, who sold it to a guy. This year I tracked it down to St Thomas where it is being used for "pirate cruises". I surprised her on her birthday with a plaque commemorating her father and a trip there to put it on the boat.
The owner arranged for us to take a private trip to Turtle bay where she and her brother liked the snorkeling but agreed it was nothing like Akumal. We spent the rest of the trip at the resort, which was great. I really liked the place a lot. Without a doubt the best food I have had at an all-inclusive but it is a small place, 65 rooms I think so they only have 2 restaurants. We never really ventured off anywhere else.
The beach at the resort was nice water and beach but rocky. You couldn't go in without water shoes.
