Hey Solman,
I like the new weather report style.
Hopefully this weather pattern holds for the rest of the month.
Are we gonna just miss you again this year? we are down from the 15th to 25th.

Thanks!  I hope it holds too, but it looks like something interesting might be brewing for next weekend. More on that as we get closer and as the model runs continue to verify.

I'm arriving the afternoon of the 24th!

Too early to be sure, VSD, but it's going to be something that bears watching. We'll know more in a couple of days. Look forward to hanging out with ya in a couple of weeks at LBV!

Other than collectivos, not aware of any special bus runs up to north Akumal. I'll tell her hi and ask if she has any more info on that, though!

Oh Solman, this isn't looking good for this weekend and next week. I'm buying some extra books. I've been watching all the official blogs and it looks like even if we don't have tropical development we will have days of rain and thunderstorms. Here is the one thing I am confused about: The system will supposedly go over Akumal and surrounding areas this weekend and then will be in the Gulf by early week. So does that mean that the storms should be over by early next week?

We were just there from the 27th to the 6th of October and the forecast was for rain and thunderstorms every single day!  I was SO disappointed but determined to make the best of it though.  Amazingly, it only rained for about 5 minutes one afternoon in Akumal and then cleared out ~ we had a few clouds and felt a few sprinkles one afternoon on Isla Mujeres. The rest of the time it was absolutely perfect weather ~ the occasional passing clouds were a welcome relief from the heat of the sun!  Wishing you a wonderful trip with sunny skies!!!

We are heading down Saturday the 17th, I'm no expert but it seems to me this system is passing thru now and should clear by Sunday. What do you think Solman?

Paul, I'm gonna need the URL for that Playa Colonial beach cam.  ...please.
And from one who typically has a fairly strong Google Foo, it pains me to say that I couldn't find it after a half hour or so of searching.

I'd much rather have sand in my shorts than snow in my shoes.

I think this is it, but it's hard to tell because it is currently dark.

I think we left just in time. The rain was biblical when we left Friday morning and the locals were saing it was going to be bad for the next few days.

Rain's finally slacked off. The disturbance has moved off to the west and linked up with another disturbance in the eastern Pacific.  National Hurricane Center has marked it as an area of interest, and it looks like it may move into the central Gulf of Mexico in the next 5 days.  Hope it doesn't screw with my flight plan!
