B&B Taj Kumal

Sorry if this has already been asked - but Taj Kumal has now opened up as a B&B on Akumal Bay and I was wondering if anyone has had any recent experience with them. I suggested it to my NEW boss a couple months ago and now she and her husband are spending a week there as I write this ..... hope she likes it... Anyway - I have booked it also through LocoGringo of course and just curious on any recent reviews since it turned B&B.

We did a tour of the place in December through Scott (LG) and a few of us are booked for early May

Looks like a great deal for the $

Reviews are on Air BnB

Another recent review noted place was great. Good WIFI although there is a few different zones

They have their own golf cart to rent and kayak (no charge)

No reserved chairs/umbrella on the beach but you share the sand with Las Casita's guests

Thanks everyone. I actually suggested this place to my boss ( big risk) but she just came back from a week there. This was her first trip to Akumal - so very fresh views. I've been going every year for about 14 years so I am pretty comfortable with things that were new to her.
The Good - great location -beautiful property- great rooms.
The Not So Good - owner not the warmest friendliest person for a newbie - not many comfortable seating options at the pool - Wi-Fi very spotty- towel loss charge of $30 - breakfast is coffee and toast at Lol-Ha - no beach chairs on the sand - they are all slated for Las Casitas.

All in all it sounds great for me and looking forward to our week stay in August. If I want more food after my morning snorkel I'll go to the Loncheria. I'll bring my own beach towel so no concerns there - and I don't mind laying on the sand either.

We were thinking of giving this place a try for our trip later this year, but opted for Las Casitas instead.  Sounds like we made the better choice.  I'd be unhappy if the owner wasn't the warmest, friendliest person after handing over my hard earned money to him or her.

That's understood - especially if new to the area. It would be nice to have someone there that gave you a lay of the land. But for us we have been going there for so many years I kinda like the idea of being left alone to vacation my way.

We stayed in the B&Bs Prana Bungalow in January and could not have been happier. The location is perfect and we loved to be able to walk right out onto the main beach or into the villAge. The Prana Bungalow was beautiful and had everything we could want including a small coffee maker, refrigerator, AC, etc. The pool area was gorgeous and the spot with the strongest wifi signal. Plenty of chairs in the sun and shade. The condo was maintained daily inside and out. Breakfast on the patio at Lo Ha overlooking the beach was amazing. A continental comes with the room but you can put that price toward a full breakfast, which we did for less than $10 each day including tip for 2. You could choose from traditional Mexican or American items. It was really outstanding and great way to start the day. There was enough food that we passed on lunch each day. The owner provides portable chairs for the beach that we utilized. She was available for questions, but never intruded on our lovely vacation. We hope to return next year.

There were coffee cups and drinking glasses (plastic for pool and glass for inside) but no dishes.

Taj Kumal is between CEA and Las Casitas. It has a gate/small wall gives it some privacy

See the photos that Locogringo has

We have the back room booked called Raj Kumal (2 story) with a full kitchen but not pool side

If you look at the pictures on the LG page, the view from the pool shows it on the left side, separate from the main building. It is part of Taj Kumal.
Just google Taj Kumal

This is not helpful

hmmmm - unsure why?

Let me explain

There are a total of 5 rooms at Taj Kumal

3 are overlooking the pool. Of these, 2 (Sirena & Poseidon suites)  are part of the main house (where the owner lives), one is a self contained room (Prana) just on the south side of the main house , also pool facing (east facing).

Then behind the main house (non pool view) is another building with  two rooms

1 small room (Hellas) and a larger two level suite with kitchen called Raj Kumal

Hope this is clearer

While not as roomy as Las Casitas , it has a pool and much cheaper if there are only 2 of you

Do all the rooms have access to the main house living area? Sounds really good especially the location ...
