Thanks for sharing your pics.  Wow, yeah.  It looks like they really have a long way to go, though.
Are they putting in a whole bunch of flat roofed palapa shades?  That would be fantastic!

Wow! Now I'm wondering if it will even be ready in time for my holiday in March! Thank you so much for sharing these pictures with us. I feel really bad for the people that have booked it for the first week of opening. I know how hard we all work for our vacation dollars, we all deserve to have a wonderful vacation.

Great pics!  How noisy is it on the beach?

I don't like the flat roof palapas. They look like there will be less shade. Also look too modern and not Mexican beach like....

Thanks so much for the additional pics, SchnauzerDog!  I'm really happy to see all those palapas going in!  I think a little shade on the beach is essential.

It certainly doesn't look like even the new building is anywhere close to being finished.  We were there in July, and they were working on it pretty constantly.  I'm feeling bad for all the people who are planning on being there opening week.  I can't imagine they will be ready.  My husband and I are planning to go back in June, so I expect they'll have our room ready by then :).  I wouldn't be surprised if they were still working on some things then, though.

Makes my skin crawl a bit, what they did to all of the foliage around the buildings....it's going to look so bare, I'm sure. The big equipment they brought in had to take a toll on the green stuff. Time will tell I guess, maybe it regenerates quickly. Looking forward to more photos in the future!

I agree.  What was wrong with the old style?  they were perfect for shade and rain protection and gave that old Mexico feel to the place.  These things look like they will make great sails when there is a decent size storm, and where are they going to land?

This is a wellness resort....maybe the old style just wasn't what the pretty people would like... It is what it is...not a thing we can do except see how ABR and the other new resort turns out and if it is something you like, well go for it.....we won't be back.....

I'm also guessing the new style was a lot cheaper, and smaller footprint, so they could put in more of them.  It doesn't look like they have taken out the old palapas, so I like the idea of MORE shade spots available!

We were there a few days ago. It's almost comical that they are saying they will be open for business Dec. 8.
The scaffolding was up on all the building and they were just getting ready to apply stucco to the slump block walls.
Secrets actually looked closer to completion.

Was there a few days ago and talked to Management - went inside a bit

No issues with getting the buffet, alacartes, bars, alacartes ready by Dec 8th - not much work left

Scaffolding is around the room bldgs. Rock Façade going up.

I see  bldgs. 6& 7 (now 3&4) will likely be the last that are ready

Bldg 5 soon. (now #2) - how soon???

Then Bldg 1

Was not to noisy - Secrets still has more noise

You should see the 3-4 story Secrets rooms overlooking the HAC pool - not as it once was

rumour has the dive shop moving to the north of Lol0Ha and more HAC condos being built there on the beachfront

HAC doesn't have condos, just the hotel and the bungalows.....

Sundog.....After staying at HAC for 10 nights and on the bay... I can honestly say I had no issues with noise at all from Secrets.        The heavy machinery is out now- they're doing a lot of finishing work... and they don't work Sundays, evenings or sat afternoons.    Still a big favorite of mine due to the proximity to the beach and town,  the dive shop and the best outstanding service of anywhere I've stayed in Akumal.  The renovated rooms are very nice.

We did hear a fair amount of construction noise at ABR (including working full swing with equip) on Sunday.   We walked the beach lots.
Yes.. Secrets is looming very close and once they're running not sure how I'll feel about my fav spot

they do have the La Casita condos that are somehow associated with Lol Ha.  Not sure what the association is.

yes, but not close to the hotel and the odds of them building right on the beach in that area would be slim.....maybe a bungalow, not much room for more than that....I would rent it...
