not as many turtles dig nests where these new palapa things are, but, there are still some that will at least try and many have succeeded.  Hopefully they will get used to staying south. From what I understand, the person handling the turtle situation in the section of the beach is not as well read on the subject as their predecessors, and I wonder if that was somewhat deliberate when they were chosen for that position.  Either way, the turtles will need to adapt to this new obstacle this year.

Did you really say you hope the turtles will get used to staying south???? And they will need to adapt to this new obstacle???   I for one am shocked at this blatant disregard for the preservation and future of the turtles and the reason most of us love the bay!

Not sure how you got that impression from my post, but, I guess the written word is a less than adequate form of communication, so I will try not to be offended by yours.  I never said I thought it was for the best or a good thing at all.  I simply meant that the resort is not taking the needs of the turtles into consideration with these obstacles and so in order to continue to have nesting turtles on that beach I foresee the mamas giving up on that section and having to fight for nesting locations south of the main pool area.  The fact that they already tend to prefer the southern section of ABR's property is well established, so, it is my hope that these changes wont have much impact.  That is all I meant.  I can now see why some long standing LGr's stop posting.  Things get taken out of context and intentions are misconstrued to the point of being accused of "blatant disregard for the preservation and future of the turtles ".  If you knew me, you would never think for one second that I have that intent.

You get 2 beers per day (unless you provide incentive to the person filling the fridge - my guess)

You also get
  • 1 bottle water
  • 1 regular / 1 lite coke
  • 1 lemon / 1 orange soda
  • 1 Sparking water
  • 1 chips / 1 chocolate
  • extra options will be charged to your room (perhaps wine or Tequila, etc

Jackfish, We have not been to the new ABR, but unless management has really put the screws to the bartenders I would guess they will still make anything you ask for or tell them how to make if they have the fixins.

Heard there is no self serve beer tap.  Do they still fill the bubba keg?

I really, really loved the self-serve beer taps and I'm sorry to see them gone, but considering how many people I saw that were "tap-challenged", it may well save them money on both beer and clean-up to hire extra help to serve...

So are drinks at the main buffet now served by the waiters?  Things like soda, coffee, etc?  Maybe this has been discussed and I missed it...

There appears to be a bar in the main buffet now.

Some bar and Liquor menus

Dog,
PLEASE,  tell me these are included in the AI package. I'm seeing a lot of top shelf liquor listed here.
I'm guessing most of these will be an additional charge, but if not, Bimmy will be going to bed early every night.
Peace, Bimmy

Yours dreams have come TRUE
Supposedly no extra cost

But as I have found at other resorts, their supply of the high end may be limited and will likely not be available at all bars - lobby or main bar

New youtube video of the penthouse - bldg. 1

Supposedly penthouses are now complete in bldg. 1 & 4

And as there is not a couch in these penthouses, the booking info that these were for a max of 2 people only seems correct

http://youtu.be/BOfbENQdHhQ

Thank you to John BG for taking this video  (and the feet/walkway - makes me dizzy)

I defer comment ... however, so much stone makes for boxed-in space; where's the view?

Thanks for the link S-dawg, looking pretty nice! My biggest concern is those "slippery when wet" tile floors everywhere and no hand rail for the stairs going to the roof...just add alcohol and a little rain or water from the tub...
Looks like a great place for private sun bathing though.

Wag more....bark less.

I am in no way bashing ABR,  just simply commenting on what I noticed.

OMG!!! ~ All I could do was focus on the shine on that tile!!!

The outside hallways will be filled with people on their as**s when it rains!

The gap under the door leading out to the roof top deck will allow rain to pour down those steps ~ and no handrails???

Just thinking about it makes me cringe!
