AASB15 Official Thread

Best to start this off now as Serg has the Facebook version started

Everyone is WELCOME to join the activities!  Come meet some LocoGringo's and have a few laughs!  (and raise $$ for the Library - Beachey can let us know the new goal)

I copied the 2014 dates (adjusted for 2015). Assume last week of April is still the target week

It looks like PavoReal is a popular choice so I have added in an option on Sunday to visit to Tankah Bay. Great cenote and a Sunday BBQ See http://www.casacenote.com/restuarantmenus/sundaytexasbbqmenu.html

Cenote is 50-70 pesos - equipment and kayaks to rent - or an air mattress. Like swimming in an aquarium with mangroves ( roots) , thousands of guppies, blue crabs, and canals

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgYRyw59Ulw
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqo2ThSk_3Q

Taxi cost between Casa Cenote and Akumal is about 300 pesos

AGAIN,  tentative dates based on last year

Akumal Comedy Festival - April 14-18 (http://www.akumalcomedyfestival.com/

Tankah Beach Visit - Sunday, April 26, 2015 - 11 AM - 4 PM (Casa Cenote swim / BBQ)  - Meet those reclusive PavoReal folks

Fishing Derby - Tues, April 28, 2015 - 9 AM - NOON -  confirmed by Bimmy - see NEW TIME (Rain out date - May 1, 2015) (Bimmy)

Tulum BEACH Crawl - Wed, April 29, 2015 (Mona)

Library Silent Auction -   Thurs,  April 30, 2015 @ Lol Ha beach bar 3-5 PM  (Beachey has confirmed)

Cinco De Mayo Party  -   Tuesday, May 5th @ La Buena Vida (Kwing)

All those planning on attending,  please  post on this thread or send me a msg

Nothing booked yet. Waiting till I get back from Coz. Looking at CRT last week in April but not liking the price right now. I'll be happy to head up the fishing derby again and that's cool that you are planning for the Akumal peeps to come up to Xpu Ha to hook with the CRT peeps for a day.
Peace, Bimmy

Almost booked last week. Airfare was about $300 BOS to CUN non-stop. Package that with ABR, was under $1000/person for the week.
Checked today and the same flights went up $200 to about $500.
I'll be watching. If it comes down again, I'll be booking.
We'll probably go with ABR. CRT was another $150/ person. If ABB&WR will be as good as it sounds, we gotta check it out.

maybe instead of a beach crawl we can do a beach day meet up on this beach.....just a thought, we'll see where everyone is staying

That would be great, A different beach instead of Tulum. Don't get me wrong, I loved doing the crawl at Tulum and I loved staying at ABR but I feel it's time to change it up a little. If I don't do CRT, I like the AI you are going to on Tulum beach. Looks real nice, kind of like ABR used to back in the day.
Peace, Bimmy

Only 1 bar / beach club at Xpu-Ha and you pay a fee at the hwy (you get it deducted from your tab)

At   PavoReal, two places to eat/drink at Tankah Bay (Casa Cenote / Blue Sky) and you get the Manatee cenote and Blue Sky pool

We will definitely be in the area around April 25 - May 2.  Looking at condos on HMB and watching air prices.  Probably going to book it backwards - book the condo we want and then wait to book air until SW publishes fares for April/May 2015.  Booking with points but hopefully not emptying the points account!  Fingers crossed!

We didn't know we were making memories. We just knew we were having fun.

As I said on FB, I am seriously looking at Pavo Real Resort on Tankah Bay where Becker and Brad are staying. Looks really nice and prices are very good as well.

You can't drink all day if you don't start early!!

Hey Mona, Did you get a package deal for Pavo Real or hotel/air separate? I have been looking for a package but can't find one.
Also the "Friends" rates at the new ABR aren't too bad. You have to register as a friend and they send you special pricing. But the rate goes down significantly starting May 1, 2015 :) after AASB :)

For those that don't read the main Akumal/Riviera Maya forum, I posted this link I saw on NBC on 9-15.  Best time to buy airfare.  Hope it helps!

no packages, booked separately.  I got their price, still too expensive and for us, after going for 8 years, I want to try something different.

I wish you all would plan the AASB trips after prices drop!  April is a hair early for me.  The weather is usually better in May.
I told myself that I wasn't planning any trips till this house was sold but already finding myself going back on my word and thinking of squeeking in a fall trip due to free miles and need of that aquamarine water.
No doubt I will be doing the same next May.  Hope to overlap most of you.

Hey Mo, The Pavo Real looks great. I can't book a package deal from Milw. but I'm keeping it open as an option if we don't do CRT. Still waiting to hear where everyone else is staying.
Peace, Bimmy

ha ha I don't need to go to mexico in the nice weather I need to go there just before the nice weather starts here.  To me it's a waste of money going when the weather is here.  I need it after I've driven, walked dogs, shovelled, frozen through freezing rain and -40 temperatures for 5 months. For us we used to go the end of march because in the oilfield that's when it starts to slow down for spring breakup.  We only started to go April/May the last few years for AASB.

VSD, you guys are hardly ever NOT there
