Folks, I actually do not know who the trail guy was, I lifted (stole) that pic from a Maine Hiking page. But seriously that is how deep the snow is about now. I skied in an unplowed road last week and as I skied over a bridge, I was looking down at the top of the guard rail for the bridge, 3 feet of snow above the guardrail.

Bernie, those snowshoes seem to be gaining in popularity lately. Light weight, durable, I have a couple pair of them. I have 8 pair all told, IIRC. What I don't like about some of the plastic ones is that their crampons are often made of plastic, I like real metal or aluminum to "stab" into the icy areas of the trail, especially if I am heading downhill. I like good solid traction. I just don't trust the plastic to grab onto good hard ice.

I did out skiing for 3 1/2 hours today, took it kinda easy, getting sick saps my strength. The fresh air, exercise and getting the blood flowing made me feel so much better though. Now I'm just cleaning out my lungs (read that coughing up real nasty stuff).

MB, loving all the pics!

Gonna be a scorcher tomorrow, high of 33 I think!

Have a great evening all.

Lovin life,
Bob

Good evening.  Storm blew in from jungle to ocean which is not the usual MO down here.  Got all the windows closed and enjoyed it.  I love the change ups in weather and the rain was much needed.  The couple from MI said it's only rained twice since their stay in January.

Thanks Bob and all for the kudos on posting pics.  Pretty mundane without the water pics, but glad you are enjoying them anyways.

Edit:  My apologies.  I have a cheap Samsung phone and the camera quality sucks.  My last pic of the eve with a bit of sun over the sea.

Good Morning
Gem, good news that your SIL has a job. Has daughter's paper work arrived yet so she can begin working?

BB, always good to put $ in the bank.

We've had a couple of days now at 50 or nearly 50. Only snow left is in sheltered spots and piles where it was mounded. Can't say I miss the whine of snowmobiles at night. Actually heard the coyotes singing a little bit last night. I don't mind that they are around here, we need some predators to keep the rabbits and voles and mice in check. And I guess I'd prefer coming face to face with a coyote rather than a cougar.

Only thing on my agenda today is some grocery shopping.
Everyone have a wonderful day!
Cindy

Happy first day of spring BCers!
Woke up early.  Took the dog outside...the full moon is beautiful!
More than overdid it cleaning house yesterday.
Love the openness of our upstairs living, dining and kitchen area.
But it is a lot of floor space to clean and mop all at one time.
Outside of boring chores.  I have nada.
Wishing all of you a beautiful day!  Hugs

Yum Twirley. Great finds.

MB - how is the booty doing?  Walking helping? I will be doing an early morning walk in Coz because that always helps my pain.  Got to really love doing it last fall in HMB because of all the pretty sights. Loved those pics you posted.

No fall trip Soso? Say it ain't so!  If we are blessed enough to go we will miss you. New puppy? Do tell!

Vacuuming. Meh. Tomas has been so good about doing it since my surgery, but at 5 weeks post op now so I shall resume my duties this weekend. He has been a good sport about it.Never had to nag.  Don't feel blamed Cindy. We all know it is our own personal responsibility what we do that may not be in our best interests. I am an expert on this ha ha.  I just try to balance my bad with good.  How have Chris's blood sugars been running?

Great news on SIL's job Gem.

Happy Spring PJ.

Exercise is great for getting the gunk out of the lungs Bobski

Where is Badger? Time to rise and shine sir!

Good Morning Nose Pickers (you might think that is funny, but it's snot!), it's Hump Day.

Twirls, glad you are gaining some weight, all of that food sounds delicious.

PJ, wow, you are up early.

MB, love those pix of the ocean!

Bernie, I misspoke yesterday, it wasn't boom boom sauce I saw, it was bang bang sauce. Boom boom, bang bang, pow pow. it's all the same, right?

SoSo, I like puppies.

Edit: Crunch, I've been up since 2 and into town already.

Got to 50F yesterday, felt great!

Howdy and good morning all.

Cloudy out this AM with scattered showers on the way around noon and continuing throughout the day. Current temp is 44F at 7:23 with a high of 53 degrees.  I watched the report on the Midwest flooding this morning. Very sad to see the damage.

Yesterday was somewhat mundane. Trip to the bank and a stop to get more milk. Paid a few bills on-line and went to dinner at Roberto's. They changed the appetizer for Tuesdays to seared rare Ahi Tuna. BeBe doesn't eat raw fish but the Beef Tenderloin Tips were outstanding.

Today I plan to turn a rainy indoor day into something a little more fun : I will put together my Mexico
packing list and stage some of the clothing to one side of my closet. Let's see here, I'm not leaving until April 29th. Do ya think I'm excited ? Yes ! I'll also shop the grocery sales today.

Bob, I just can't believe you stole that picture. Next thing you will probably tell people that is YOU in that shot. Hee,hee, hee. I only had one pair of snowshoes that I used to own in Colorado.  They had an all wood frame and the webbing was rawhide or leather. The crampons were metal. They were also fairly heavy and built to traverse heavy deep snow.  Not sure what ever happened to those things. Probably still in that cabin that the ex-wife got.  Hope you get over that cold soon.

Thanks for the storm pictures, MB.

Cindy, sometimes grocery shopping can be a welcome break.

PJ, have fun doing nada !

Hi Crunch. Do you have a lot of carpet in your house ?  For me, only a few throw rugs downstairs and the entire upstairs is all carpet. I'm not ever excited to vacuum carpet but happy when it's completed. The task usually leaves me with a sore right arm & shoulder.

Badger,  I found out what Chef Dave uses in his bang-bang shrimp recipe : Texas Pete hot sauce. Maybe I can get the recipe for you if you want it.

Hi SoSo and all the folks from yesterday's posts.

See y'all tomorrow,
Bernie

Good morning all

Bernie, I'm excited too but it is a wee bit early to assemble stuff.  Most of mine just got unpacked and is in the laundry room.  It can stay there until it's time to wash it and 're pack.  Once again I didn't need part of what I took.  I needed more empty space for bringing stuff back.  I noticed that there are many imported items in Chedruari that I can't get at home.  Like real French Dijon mustard.  I found several different variations of it , green peppercorn, champagne, etc and I brought home 4 jars at $2. each!  When I can find it here, it's almost $7.  LOL...me and food...

Bernie, I count 41 days before take off.  It can't get here soon enough.

Today is my housekeeping day.  Chris vacuumed Monday.    He thinks he saw a hummingbird this morning so he will get the feeders out.

I finally got my new tags yesterday but couldn't change the TOD because I didn't take the car title.  Now I have to go back, dangit!

It's raining today and will continue most of the day.  Friday should be superb!  68 and sunny!  TOPLESS DRIVING!

Good morning.  A beautiful 80.  Nice long walk down to Turtle Bay.  Timed that perfectly as the guy unlocked the bathroom by Taverna for me.  Picked up a sticky bun, strawberry coffee cake and a mango/strawberry/banana smoothie, most of which I drank on the long walk back to YKC.  Biggest decision of the day thus far is which pastry to have with my coffee.

Taverna

Gem, thanks for the pic of Ahmed.  Great news about your SIL.

Crunchie, no improvement on my end.  Do you have anymore post op doctor visits?

Bernie, always good to have something to look forward to.  No pics of the beef tenderloin tips.  Shame, shame.

Badger, thanks for cracking me up this morning.  Bang,boom....all the same to me.

Cindy, my neighbor back home has been giving me periodic weather updates.  She said there is about two feet of grass showing next to the driveway which tells me that those mammoth mounds of snow, as tall as me, are gone.  Yippee.

Claire, good job at the casino.

Twirls, you are quite the epicure.  I have a feeling you will be back to that butcher and pastry shop.

PJ, yes happy spring equinox.  Beautiful supermoon.

Weather has been stunning and winds much more calm than previous March trips.

Have a beautiful day everyone.  MB

See the heart surgeon next week MB for my post op and the cardiologist the week after.  Yummy breakfast!

No raw fish for me either Bernie. I vacuum all floors (tile, carpet, vinyl) dog hair you know and Tuco also drags in tons of dirt and grass and everything else!

Happy First Day of Spring!

Up early baked off a loaf of bread.  Experiencing beautiful sunny weather here today, great to notice the sun is rising 2 - 3 mins faster per day.  Our resident Cdn goose couple returned this week to nest again, they just honked off down to the lake for breakfast.

MB enjoying your photos, thank you.  Love the predawn colours and of course Sunday tacos el pastor, yummy. Aww the rain showers, with bugs, LOL.  Good going on the yummy TBC sticky bun, early bird caught the prize!

BeBe you going plant a tree for the birds to keep their modesty while in their bird bath? Pack on hermano

Added $130 to our social committee with the bottle drive yesterday.

Nipper, did you guys take off again?

Badger I like puppies too, can't wait. Name choosing ideas needed for a girl, Zoey is topping the list so far.

PJ love a home that has open floor plan, hope you aren't to sore.  Sounds like spring cleaning has started a day early at your place early with the inlaws coming.  Happy Spring.

BB you have a horseshoe up somewhere - congrats!!  What is with the no gambling in KT?

Yes Crunch it is so - no Fall trip this year. Will be hanging out with the new puppy.  The new pup is a black mini poodle (could be a large toy) similar to our Holly dog should be around 10-12 pds.  Will be training her to be comfortable with an airline carry on, -she will soon be a little snowbirddog during winter months.

Good news on tax rebate Cindy always a nice surprise when it's not expected.  We have coordinated ours which is a relief when not in the country.

Gem for sure you miss your daughter, you book really far in advance...  But then seems like you have to for ABR si?  BTW Ahmed has a fancy motorcycle so must be doing well and I'm sure he will enjoy your visit soon.  How many more sleeps?

Everyone make it a good Hump Day!

11 more sleeps until Cozumel.

Arrived and enjoying the Roo!

Yes, Soso, that's him!  But ugh on him for getting another motorcycle.  The last one almost killed him :(
This year will probably be our last to ABR.  We are ready to try PoMo for sure, if not another condo on HMB.  The only reason we are doing the 2 weeks in October there, is because it was a "gift"  And we wanted to book it early.  Cute puppies!  So sweet!
C & C, will you be looking for a pup anytime soon?
MB, I am loving all your photos of Akumal.  We have yet to try Taverna, maybe this time.   I'm hoping to post daily while we're there, but someone is going to have to give me a tutorial about how to post photos on LG from an Ipad.  I've tried and have only been able to do it on my desktop.  PJ???
Crunch, I'll bet you'll amaze your cardiologist and surgeon on your post ops.  Don't you feel so much better?
Bernie's got me in the mood to go bird bath hunting. Was that a local place?
Daughter is still waiting for her license to transfer, she was told 20 days and they've been there 5 weeks now.  But with Chris starting work, the worry isn't so great now.  They definately are loving it there.  When we facetime, I can hear all the birds and the chickens and roosters!  She says they run free everywhere on the island.  It's funny to see them.
Shana and I have booked our girls trip to Houston for the end of April, so really looking forward to seeing the Grands then.  All the other grandkids live within 30 minutes, so this is another hard one.  But we make it work.
Badger, I don't know how you get up so early.  Since I retired, I sleep until I wake up, sometimes as late as 10:00.  But I also stay up pretty late.  It's nice not to have a schedule.
Twirley, I'll bet you are looking forward to many topless days~soon to come!
Jamie, Frank, SNF, UHK, BB, Nipper, JJ, Maple and all that I may have missed, make it a great day!

Good Morning Agoutis, it's Thirstday.

Bernie, I would love the recipe for bang-bang shrimp!

SoSo, I think Zoey is a great name.

Love the photos, MB!

Crunch & Gem, at home I can usually only sleep until 2 or 3, but once I get to Mexico I can sleep in 'til 5 or 6.

I'm not a big fan of raw fish either, like my buddy says "That's not something you eat, that's bait!".

A little rain/snow mix here yesterday, but at least temps were in the low 40s.

Wag more....bark less.

Good morning.

Ahmed is the GRASSHOPPER GUY!  He made those palm leaf grasshoppers.  I still have one.  He worked at ABR entrance in the guard shack.  Then at Turtle Bay as the bartender.  I seem to recall a different name for him...?

Our weather pattern seems to reflect that we may have finally gotten into spring weather.  Looks consistently in the 50's and 60's with frequent rain.  Today and tomorrow looks great then the rain moves in again.

Not much going on today.  I have a massage at 10:30 this morning and then???

What a cute pile of puppies. I think Zoey is a very cool name.

Gem - I was completely without symptoms before surgery and my HR was in the 60's and BP great. Now I have a HR in the 80-110 range (high end when I skip the lopressor) and my systolic BP is fine, but the diastolic is often in the 90's. It is a physiological thing because I have all this blood flow I didn't have before, but my heart things it still needs to pump really hard to get the drizzle of blood through like it did before the surgery. The Lopressor is a beta blocker and I hate it. Makes me tired and SOB with stairs and hills. However, I need it to keep my HR down. Supposed to get better eventually when my heart learns it doesn't have to work so hard. I am biatching, but considering the alternative was dropping dead at any moment I really shouldn't  I used to go up 4 flights of stairs without any breathlessness, but now I sound like I am going to keel over. I am not the patient type!

Badger - are you ever going to slow down? Funny, we rarely sleep past 6 or 7 in Mexico, but we do get to bed fairly early.  As you know we are up at 0330 to exercise before work during real world times.  Glad you are slowly warming up.

Good Morning
I woke up at 3, but decided to try and sleep some more. I'm still having bouts of coughing from that sore throat I had when we were in Roatan and it can be exhausting. I guess I still have crud to cough up, just wish it would go away.

Tiny little puppies! I like Zoey, too. Whoever asked again (edit: I just looked back, it was Gem) about us getting another dog, waiting till after the PoMo trip. Then I can spend the time with training, and the weather will be better, too. Might get 2, we'll see.

DIL is going to be working the big semi-annual Mommy-to-Mommy sale at the fair grounds next week and bringing the kids here for the day on Monday. (Seth is off all week for spring break, seems early to me)  Chris wanted to know if she could bring Didi's little trampoline with, but her van is going to be loaded with stuff to put out in the sale. Chris went online and ordered one and it should be here tomorrow! LOL! Wish the weather would go back to the 50's for Monday, but forecast is dismal: Sunday dip in temps with some possible snow flurries, Mon. high only 37. Not ideal for kite flying and other outdoor activities.

MB, loving all your pics, but now I'm craving a sticky bun.
My coffee cup is empty so Hola to all I've missed and have a wonderful day!

Crunch and Frank, you both got in before me. Crunch, been meaning to ask if the sciactic problem is still with you and if so when can that be addressed?
And Frank, I've known some Beagles and when they want to follow a scent, they lose all other thoughts and can become completely lost. I don't think you would ever be able to let her off leash, just for her own safety. Just my 2 cents.

Howdy and good morning everyone.

Mostly cloudy all day today. Current temp 52F at 7:32 with an expected high of 63 degrees.

I just couldn't wait any longer...just too excited...had to do it, so I went to my bank and ordered pesos. Probably will have to get a larger carry-on to handle all that cash. hee, hee. Rate of return was 17.6 to the dollar after bank fees; pesos have been sliding down a little for the last couple of weeks. It always does when I plan a trip. Ha !

Never did get around to putting together my packing list and Holly made me feel guilty about staging my clothing.  No SoSo, not packing, dear. Only organizing my t-shirts & shorts into one area of my closet.

MB, very nice pictures yesterday. Is that a type of Capybara ( rat ) in that one picture ?  I have seen them before but never asked anyone what they are named. I was told the Mayan's hunt and eat them. Not sure about that. I caught the pic of the orange cat on the wall the other day. You missing your kitty ?

Crunch, raw fish YUK !  Badger is right : bait ! You are a lucky girl that they were able to correct your heart condition.

SoSo, cute puppies. Here is a possible name for your pup : "DOG"... It's Italian. Say the letters out loud.

Gem, correct, that bird bath was from a local small shop. It's earthen stoneware with an all-glazed outside. Make sure you get the type that has a bowl that locks into place with a small turn.

Badger, I will see if Chef Dave will let me have the recipe.

Cindy, you must have been busy this AM.

Oops, gotta get the trash out !

See y'all,
Bernie

Good morning BCers!
Another beautiful day here.  Temps near 60F expected.
Still working on cleaning and organizing the house for company.
Grocery shopping this afternoon.  SJ said that we will take everyone out to eat at our
favorite Mexican restaurant Saturday night.  So I don't get so pooped out cooking a big meal.
Then do a nice brunch at home on Sunday morning before his family leaves out for Florida.
Works for me.

SoSo,  puppies are so cute!  Zoey would be a great name for your new baby girl.

Crunch,  Both my husband and my two oldest brothers have the same complaints as you.
After having the heart procedures... the blood pressure and heart meds really slowed them down.
But like you said,  Thankful to be alive.  Pushing through.   Hugs

Wishing everyone a beautiful day!

Good morning.  79.  My sad attempt to get a decent pic of the supermoon.

Out for my walk by 7:30. The air felt cool. Had to chuckle as many of the locals were wearing hoodies riding their motos.  Overheard someone call this kitty Peaches the other day.

Anyone know what kind of tree or fruit this is?

This agouti was hanging out at the Pablo Bush Romero park.  No cola like Maya.

Coati aka Coatimundi

SoSo, Ahmed has a million dollar smile.  He does look very familiar.

Bernie, agoutis are basically fruit and nut lovers.  I've never tasted it. Some locals do like to prepare it on the barbie.  I do miss my silly Maya.

Crunchie, thanks for the update.  Anxious to hear how your upcoming doc appointments go.

Badger, you do get up super early young man.  Hope Babs is doing okay with the RA.  Are you two having more dental work done when you're down next?

Frank, a leash it is.  Are you doing any better with your chronic pain?

Twirls, I've heard occupancy is around 70% in Akumal right now.

Gem. when are you wheels up?

Cindy, that will be nice to get another doggie, or two, this spring.  Another collie?

Hola to all I've missed. Make it a great day.  MB
