Good Morning
DIL is having a Birthday party for Didi on Sunday. So while Chris went to his infusion appt I went shopping. Wanted to look at the Furreal pets. Didi gets so excited when she sees a dog out the window and "puppy" is one of the clearest words in her vocabulary. Always looks around when she arrives at our house and says "puppy?" Anyway, found out that the one I was looking for (walks, barks, sits, wags, and will flip a "bone" off it's nose and catch it) was $99.00. Just could not justify the price for a 2 yo. Found a little terrier-looking one by a different company that only walks, wags and barks for $15.00. I still think she will love it. I believe it is supposed to be a Cairn terrier. Maybe she will call it Toto.

Today I have my monthly back realignment. Get a few groceries on the way home, then back to Christmas take down. Tree is bare of ornaments, next is lights. Will need the regular ladder for that. Then haul the 2 boxes for the tree out of the basement and start taking it apart. If I get that accomplished, next will be garland. Also requires the ladder. I see Aleve in my future.

MB, continue to improve!
Holly, continue to EAT!
PJ, lovely you had a hang-on-the line day. Our weather here is miserable. Still windy, wind chill factor makes temp 0. May just dash out and unplug outdoor lights. Brrr.
Have a wonderful day
Cindy

Good Morning Drivelers, it's Hump Day.

MB, so glad that you are improving! We've had snow on the ground since mid-November, but enough warmups that much of it has melted, probably about 4" right now. My friend in Duluth had a total of 17" just last week in 2 storms.

PJ, good luck on the closing today!

Twirls, that's great that Chris is being such a help and loves dogs like we do, let us know how Pearl the Wonder dog is doing. I think a lot of us wish that our doctors would tell us that we need to gain weight.

SoSo, I'm a little jealous that you have a stalker and mine doesn't vote me down anymore.

Had to drive Babs to a doctor appointment in Duluth yesterday, he said she now has Osteo arthritis along with Rheumatoid and told her she should consider getting a handicap parking permit because of her difficulty walking.
Which reminds me, Bernie will you have a car this spring in PM? She might need to catch a ride if we go beach crawling.

On the way home we did stop at our favorite dive bar in Superior and had great burgers and fries.

Currently 10F, with a high today of only 15.

Howdy and good morning all.

Nice bright skies this AM and should remain that way today, Tomorrow the cold hits us. Current temp is 52F at 8:27 and the high around 58 degrees. High winds on the beach so not sure if I will bother with a walk today.

Yesterday was lunch at Fibber McGees and dinner at Roberto's. The bar was packed and the folks to either side of me were fun to meet and talk about what brought us all to this area.

Today is my appointment to get the truck front end problem fixed. I missed Devin yesterday but he said we would get all the decorations put away in my attic this afternoon.

Great news on quick closing, PJ. You two drive safely to Memphis.

MB, if my beach pictures help you heal, some more coming your way in a bit.

SoSo, thanks for that pretty picture in N. Akumal. Was a long day yesterday but now time to relax. Have a marg or two for me, OK ?

Hey Bob. You are alive and well !  Ski conditions get any better ?

   Hi nipper.

Holly, at least now you know what's up with your pain.  Reference your walker, maybe you can get one of those electric scooters that drive folks crazy in the Walmart. You would need to attach it to the back of the camaro in some kind of rack. Of course you would have to use a little electric crane to load/unload it. I don't think that would look bad at all ! hee, hee.

Cindy, good call on the $15 dog for Didi. Please get a couple of pictures of her watching it, if you can.

Badger, yes, I will have a car and it would be a pleasure to help Babs. Holly and a few others might want a lift as well. Should I rent a mini van ? Picture made me laugh. Thanks.

Crunch, did ya get all moved yesterday ?

Time to get a moving, as I slept in a bit.
See y'all later,
Bernie

Good morning,  10 and clear; feel like factor of -6 with windchill.  Winds have calmed down considerably.  Had a nice chat with eldest brother yesterday; he did most of the talking.  Restless sleep last night but I am getting stronger each passing day.  Very encouraged that I am able to do small tasks without set backs as silly as that might sound.

Bernie, thanks for the brief chat yesterday.  Appreciate the beach pics.  No more biting Freddie.

Cindy, look forward to some pics at DiDi's party.  I'm betting little doggie will be a big hit.  She probably misses Mollie too.  Please be careful on the ladder.  Don't need any mishaps before your trip.  Any word on Toyota?

Crunchie, appreciate all your medical insight.   Have quite a few questions for doctor tomorrow.  How was the cake?

Badger, thanks for the laugh this morning.  Was that sign in PoMo?   Not the best of news for Babs; please give my best to her with a hug.

PJ, safe travels today and good luck with the closing.  So happy for you.

Twirls, good on the weight gain.  You are going to be very busy with upcoming appointments. Good attitude about figuring out the walker/vehicle issue so you are less dependent on others for transport.  Love your optimism about getting better and joining others in PoMo.

Hi to all I've missed.  Be well all, MB

Good morning BCers!
Sunny and windy here.  High of 46F.  24 degree drop from yesterday's high of 70F
Got a bunch of stuff dried outside yesterday.  Bedding, throw rugs, and fleece throws.

Yesterday was my MIL's 91st birthday.   She is still getting around pretty good.  Looks
great for her age.   One of the nieces made this shirt for her at Christmas.  Love it!

Wishing everyone a beautiful day!   Off to meet up with SJ at work.  Then head to Memphis.

Morning all

I stayed up late talking, laughing, and giggling with Susy.  We talked for 2 hours and 15 minutes!  It was after 1 when we hung up so it was almost 2 by the time I went to bed.  Chris took Pearl over to the vet.  I am thankful to have him even as quirky as he is.  We are both looking forward to the May trip.  I'm so glad Paul had this idea and got it started.  THANK YOU.

We are having a sunny and pretty day but I bet the prediction of measurable snow will send all the fearmongers rushing to buy bread, milk and eggs!  I am going to try to get myself to the store and run a few errands.  It's supposed to be cold all weekend but I plan to cook some comfort food and watch football.  Wish my hot tub was in service.  Still waiting on the new parts.

Unfortunately I am having congestion and spitting up some yucky yellow carp.  I hope I'm not getting sick again.  I started airborne with extra vitamin C a couple days ago.  Starting Zicam now but it doesn't feel like a cold but just chest congestion.

Weather is on and they moved the freezing temperatures to starting tonight with it dropping into the teens.  Better get on with the day.

MB - sounding much better!

Bernie - great pics. Move still in process.  Hauling 15 years of crap across campus takes a long time LOL!

PJ - she does look good and great shirt.

I want to see the little dog and Didi in action too Cindy.

Hope you are doing ok Chris.

Howdy and good morning all.

Hey Bob. You are alive and well !  Ski conditions get any better ?

It is nuking snow right now, but it is the wet heavy sticky stuff. Lower elevations want to grab your skis. About a third of the way down tourist trap the snow wants to grab your skis and take them off, as well as the lower 20% of Monday Morning. A friend, and excellent skier, ended up in ski patrol with her shoulder all sore, heading out to get x-rayed. Higher altitudes were much better, but even getting down near the bottom of the North Peak chair the snow wanted to take your skis off. I bailed for the day after an hour and a half. Live to ski tomorrow!

I have been looking at the trails under the North Peak chair, just itching to ski them, but the streams have not filled in yet. you have some jump crossings to do to get across. Hoping this snow will fill them in!

We had a death yesterday at the ski resort, a 66 year old man. Before they released any info on the person, a friend sent a message to me, asking about it. I replied with, Hi, this is Laurie. I haven't seen Bob, any chance he visited you yesterday afternoon. I know he said he was going to go see you and your mother. After a while he caught on it was me messaging him!

Today, on the way home, trucks couldn't get up hills, snow laden trees were bent over into the road. I had no trouble until I came upon the snow plow coming in the other direction. There was about 6" of snow on the road at the time. I pulled over and stopped so he could by me, it's a narrow road I live on and he's a big truck! I got a wheel into the ditch, then the other. Phooey. I dug out all around and under, 3 feet wide, and tried to get out, only slid further down in. So, being close to home, i walked home and called a neighbor with a plow truck. We got it pulled out real easy, just needed a little bit. I tried to give him some beer money, but he wouldn't hear of it. Good to have good neighbors!

Be well all!

Lovin life,
Bob

Good luck with the skiing Bob, sorry to hear about the death.

MB, glad to hear you are improving, keep up the good work.

Thanks for the pictures, Bernie, beach looks real nice. Hope you get your truck fixed soon.

Cindy, hope you can post a picture of DiDi's doggie. Have you and Chris given any thought to getting a real dog for her and Seth to play with?

Glad to hear your dad is doing better crunch, do you think he might have a mild depression? Or just not adjusting to the death of your mom.

Twirley, what you need is a second walker. When I was released from the ER, they gave me a lightweight aluminum folding one, I use it when I have to drive, it does not weigh much at all and fits easily in part of the back seat. My Dr's office staff put in a request to my insurance company for a 4 wheeled walker with a seat which has a lid that flips up with a small storage compartment, I use that for everywhere else, but it weighs 14 lbs so too hard to take in the car.

I've wondered from time to time if I had a small stroke or something, as one day I was fine other than back pain and the next morning I could not move without having to hold on to something. However they did not test for that, only X-rayed my hips and 4 different people asked me if I had fallen down until I was ready to scream if one more person asked me that. Would they ask an older man that?

PJ, have a safe trip to Memphis and congrats on the quick sale of the condo.

Jamie, they don't say much about the death on the slopes, certainly not on their website, it's bad for business. The only reason I heard about it is that someone heard it on the police scanners. This is the same trail we saw someone walking down a little earlier in the day. Depending which map you look at, it is either a blue trail or green trail (Intermediate or beginner, respectively). I've seen Black diamond trails (expert), on this resort that are as steep and challenging as this trail. The ratings are all relative and subjective. You can easily see how a skier can get in over their head. This is probably the toughest blue trail on resort and there is a tough head wall at the bottom, long after you can nope out of there. Get the wrong conditions and  the trail gets markedly worse.

Lovin life,
Bob

Good news, more good news, and yet more good news, with some questions thrown in for good measure.
Echocardiogram showed nothing wrong with my heart and either the equipment or technicians were way better because on my first 2 echos done by another tech the same area of my heart had areas 'not well visualized'. Well this gal could zoom in on it perfectly. Cardiologist said I could quit the aspirin, drink caffeinated beverages and travel as long as I was in an area with a good hospital. So while we aren't going where we had hoped to go we WILL go to Akumal!! Yippee! Flights and hotel are booked. Bonus is that flights are direct and we don't have to go through the USA so I won't have to spend time deleting posts, comments and likes regarding US shenanigans from my Facebook page - the border people in the US are able to confiscate, search and seize phones, IPads and laptops to see if you are a threat to US security. I also don't have to worry about impacts of the US government shutdown on flights. Win win all around.

My question for area travellers - are taxis cheaper to go TO the airport compared to private shuttles? I know we saved taking a taxi from both PM and Playa rather than a shuttle. We will book a shuttle from the airport cause it's easy after a long day on the plane.

Bob, sad news about the loss of a skier. Same thing happened here the other day but it was a 30 year old. Rumour has it he hit a tree. I haven't down hill skied since I had my knee replaced 14 years ago but it seems almost everyone wears helmets anymore.,
Glad to see MB and Chris back at home, speedy recoveries to you both.
Hope everyone's aches and pains, illnesses and woes improve.
Cheers!

De nada. Babs and I are really looking forward to it as well, it'll be great to see so many old friends again and with all of the health problems cropping up lately among the BCers, who knows when/if we will ever be able to do this again?

Barata, that is fantastic news, so happy for you & John!
Not sure on the cost of a taxi from Akumal to the airport anymore, but there used to be a sign by the taxi stand near the arch that listed the prices. Or perhaps SoSo will see this and check it out for you?

Babs says to say thanks to all of you who voiced your concern, she does have a very good doctor now.

Cindy, I think Chris should take and post a video of Didi and the dog.

Nipper, isn't the Bay of Fundy where the huge tides occur?

Pretty chilly outside yesterday because of the temp and a stiff wind, a little warmer today then highs near 30 for the weekend.

PJ, so happy that you are getting relief from that ambulance ride.  S/B interesting to see my charges for this ordeal.  Your fridge sounds possessed.  Would be sweet if the new power cord was the solution.  Don't remember if I offered congrats or not on the sale of condo.

When my wife fell when she broke her shoulder the ambulance ride was $1,360.  They went a little less than 5 miles.  Ambulance company said insurance was not covering it so we paid it.  Was nice to get a 1,360 refund check from them once the insurance did pay.  Same thing with the anesteologist  (sp? guy who knocks you out).  Said we were responsible for the $1,120 bill.  Paid them then got a refund check back once the insurance paid.  I think these companies do that to make sure they get paid by someone.  Sure helps with their cash flow too.

Been trying the Cannabis oils and salves for my feet pain.  I know a lot of people swear by it but it has done ZERO for me.  Hard to know what you are actually getting since it is not regulated in Missouri yet.  Those sellers of the oils could put anything in or on those bottle with very little or no risk to them.  I'll probably try it again once it is legally available in Missouri in about 1 year.  Think I will try it with the THC so at least I'll be getting something for my money if it doesn't work

Cindy--When is your grandbaby's birthdate and how old will she be?  Kayden turns 2 on Jan 26th.  His mom is planning a party, just don't know the details yet.  Boy he got loaded up on his first birthday.  He has 2 grandmas, 2 grandpas, 2 great grandmas, 1 great grandpa and 1 great great grandma.  Kid is going to be spoiled to the core.

Going to stay with my mom today so my sister Maggie, who usually lives and takes care of mom, has thyroid surgery.

Thanks to everyone for their concerns about me.  This neuropathy has been really kicking my butt.  Thanks for the prayers and well wishes.   Crunch-I miss you too.  Will try to participate more.

I agree partially with SOSO on the chiropractors.  They 3 I have been to did not do anything where I could feel a significant difference for a long period of time.  They would pop my back and I felt better for maybe 5 minutes.  Problem was I was going their for pain relief in my feet.  All 3 said it was my back that was messed up but I had a skin biopsy done showing I had small fiber peripheral(sp?) neuropathy in my feet.  They all thought it was in my back.  I could see how they could really hurt a person.

Good Morning
Frank, ingest the CBD oil. A drop or so on your tongue, or on some food you're eating. My brother has been giving it to his ancient dog, and says it has done wonders. Also, Didi's birthday was the 4th of Jan. Son and DIL wanted to put a bit of separation between Christmas and her birthday. Seth's birthday is Dec. 19th, we did that a little early, for the same reason. (personally, I think son and DIL did some poor ovulation planning, but there you have it)

I am so sorry to hear Babs has got a double whammy of arthritis. I know I've been hurting with this yoyo weather and the barometer all over the map, she must be miserable. Is this doctor going to come up with some treatment plan? Hope she can get some relief. Perhaps some CBD oil?

SoSo, a very artistic shot! Lovely.

Barata, SO happy for you! Have a ton of fun.

Jamie, yes, we are planning on looking for a pup in the spring, most likely immediately after the LG gathering in PoMo. Since we live in the frigid north, training is much easier in the warmer months. Do not want to go outside in the middle of the night in the middle of winter. By the way, it is about 12 F here right now. I rest my case.

Looks like this next big storm will mostly miss us, staying south to wreak havoc on Twirls, PJ, and BB. All right by me, but sorry to see ice storm in the forecast for you southerners.

MB, hope you are getting stronger and feel better each day!

Time to get going and start the laundry; have a wonderful day!
Cindy

Hi everyone.

Up early this AM. Current temp 35F at 6:45 and high only 45 degrees. Low tonight 26 degrees. At least it will be sunny today and tomorrow.

Lillie Mae is in St. Mary's hospital and doctor said it doesn't look good for her. He suggested we see her now rather than later. She fell at the home two days ago at breakfast time. All the residents were waiting in their wheel chairs for the doors to open when Mae decided to stand up and start walking down the hall. No walker no anything. Just trucking down the hall. Someone by the nursing station spotted her and shouted "where you going Lillie Mae"; she turned and did a face plant. An ambulance was called for transport to the hospital. They did stitches on her face and kept her overnight in a room by the emergency area. Fluid was discovered in her lungs. She is hooked up to an IV but is in a coma. Recovery is not expected.

Debby will pick me up in about an hour for the 5.5 hour drive to Richmond. Our youngest brother Larry will be driving down from Charlottesville VA. Bob in Tampa will wait to hear back from us after talking to the doctor today before flying up. Debby and I are planning to drive back home Friday afternoon or Saturday.

I will report back when I get home.

Hope y'all have a good day,
Bernie
