Evening all
Had a fun chat with MB a bit ago.
Badger, that breakfast looks great.
PJ , huge family.  Very cutie pie of a new born.
For those looking for direct contact info...GOOGLE!  HM has their own website with phone and email info.  I've called twice and emails go to booking something.com.  I have it somewhere.  It's not that hard to find...I did!

Update on me... I still can't get upright without horrible pain.  It's probably just as Crunch said.  I suspect same.  I'm doing all I can to be proactive in my health care and healing.
Saturday I have an appointment with a Neuromuscular pain specialist recommended by a patient of his.
An MRI would be great for diagnostics but an MRI DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM.
Worst case is I pay cash for one...

The church who is responsible for the CHRISTMAS CRUSADE for the kids, will pick up my gifts on Saturday at noon.  I just have to organize and tag everything for each child and put in boxes already marked and started.  M/L INVENTORY and checking my list twice, like Santa.  3 of the girls were all the same size so I bought multiples in a pack like socks and underwear.  Also leggings and tops.  Just need to match up colours in outfits for each.
Chris put the bike together.  It's a very kewl bike (and matching helmet)  for the 8 Yao boy with the typical big wish list and no size for clothes or shoes.  I did get him a work out type 3 pc.  jogger suit in what SHOULD be his size AND it has the emblem of hid favourite BB player on it. Plus the CHIEFS backpack, although no autograph.
I'm pretty sure they will all be happy and I will think of them on Christmas morning.

When I was young, I remember waking up and going to the Christmas tree so very early , before anyone else was up.  Mom would leave the tree lights on after Santa came.  Our Santa gifts were mostly unwrapped and placed around the tree with ribbons.  Everything seemed to sparkle with magic.  I would soak it in, that magical sparkle, bikes or dolls or whatever, and then go back to bed.  But that magical moment of discovery will be with me forever.  I hope to pass that feeling along to other children.

Good Morning
Gosh, PJ, you have me beat and I didn't think that was possible. I have 13 nieces and nephews, 4 girls and 9 boys. 2 of the boys are close to Seth's age, so I don't think they'll be procreating anytime soon. 8 greats, 5 girls and 3 boys. On Chris' side there is just the twins, 1 boy and 1 girl. I love the name of your newest family member as well.  She's adorable. I think Callie Grace should meet my youngest g. niece Zoey Pearl, I like the ring of those names together.

Holly, glad to hear the church is picking up the gifts. I'm a big fan of the steroid shots myself. I've had 2 in my left hip, after the bursitis I had, one in the left knee (damaged from walking poorly as a result of the left hip) and now most recently the rotater cuff. I think they are like magic, although I'm sure the PT helped, too. Sending prayers your way.

Snow coming your way, Bernie. You can have it, I don't want it.

C-C-cold here. Thanks, Canada.

MB, sounds like you have everything under control.

Kids coming over tomorrow, I need to get some gifts wrapped (or out of sight). Today's first task is making a list of ingredients and buying them so I can get going on my baking/candy, then pick up some stamps at the P.O. and start on cards.
Y'all have a great day!
Cindy

Twirley, I love what you are doing for Christmas! Just love it. I'm hoping the docs can figure out what is up and get you some relief. This is just terrible.

PJ, a blimp!!! I'd love to see one, though I am not sure why(???) I mean, it doesn't affect me in any way, but I'd love to see one just the same! Thanx for sharing that.

Bernie, you went shopping with a woman???, You, a bachelor?

MB, it is snowing right now here! But it's not supposed to accumulate. Phooey. I've been putting in 5 hours a day on the slopes of late. Getting better at things and loving the fresh air.

Badger, loving the vacation pics! Keep em coming.

Have a great day all!

Lovin life,
Bob

Buenas Dias Amigos, hoy es Viernes.

Twirls, I'm sure you remember Joe, one of the owners of the now defunct Cancun Billy's? Well, he recently opened a new burger joint on Nino Heroes, the first street as you come into town (to the left). GREAT burgers, in fact by far the best we have ever had in Mexico. The combo price which includes a burger, fries and a drink is 130 - 170 pesos or $6.50 - 8.50 U.S.
Place is called Burger Underground.

Burgers are big and juicy!

We did get a kick out of this lady sitting in front of us wearing this shirt while chowing down on a burger

Funny story, we asked Joe if he had seen Pancho, the crocodile that sometimes appears in the jungle across the street and he said yes, in fact one day they were portioning out a large delivery of fresh burger when Pancho came totally out of the jungle and looked like he was going to cross the street for the burger he had just smelled.

Yesterday Babs had an appointment to start the process of getting another crown, price is $115 U.S. Crown should be ready next week. My next appointment is Monday. No big plans for today other than picking up laundry, we still haven't seen SoSo, but have plans to meet both of them tomorrow for dinner at El Campanario.

That is hilarious Badger!

Beautiful name PJ.

I just saw this pic on the Funnies thread and I need to text it to someone.  Can only text.  Any idea how to get it from here to my phone other than taking a picture of it?

Howdy and good morning all.

It's a little overcast along the coast this AM but we should see mostly sunny in an hour or so. Currently our temperature is 38F at 7:39 and the high will be 53 degrees.  Rainy conditions the new few days.

Yesterday was fairly mundane. Grocery shopping, trip to Lowe's Home Improvement for more icicle lights, and finally a trip to my pest control company. I had dropped off a 'squished bug' for them to identify a few days ago but the owner couldn't tell what it was, as I had really SQUISHED it too much. He had requested I bring a "more complete" specimen. So I caught one that was still alive in Freddie's food bowl; dumped it in a zip lock bag. Funny, the two girls in the office wouldn't take the baggie from me and kept saying 'ewww', so I dropped it on the office desk. Got a call later in the afternoon from owner Jimmy. He identified the bug as "silverfish" and will have a tech spray next week. He asked me to see if I could find their 'nest', probably around books or cardboard boxes.  Hmmm. I am now on a mission to find where these little rascals live.  Anyone ever had silverfish and were they easy to eradicate ?

Other than searching for bugs, not much else on my list. Need to search for the little cell phone case.

PJ, that is one adorable picture of little Callie Grace ! A sleeping angel.

jj, I have never been in the real estate business but know that it has become more complex over the years. Good luck on the real estate license exam.

MB, I speak the truth. I know that you really don't want to cook for 20+ people. Do the Chinese take out !
hee, hee. Then tell your family to only bring the things they want to drink and a few desert dishes. When the delivery shows up just yell "Surprise, dinner is served". Everyone can get a scoop of what looks good and share the different items. A true 'family style' meal. You could select a variety of menu items from your favorite local place and prepay for the food for a specific date & time. Easy dinner. You would just need some paper plates and several big spoons for scooping food from the little delivery containers. Whatca think ?

Holly, you must be doing a little better as your last post was fairly long.

Cindy, did you say the "S" word ? Say it's not so !!  If the coast gets anything other than a dusting that will be somewhat rare. I hope no ice & snow on the streets, as people here do NOT know how to drive in it.

Yes, Bob, I was very brave that day. What was I thinking ? hee, hee.

Very interesting place, Badger. The menu and big sign out front all in English. That's definitely an appeal to the American customers. Will be interesting to see if it does well. I'll try it based on your review for sure.
Reference Pancho the croc, I will view him from a distance. Those things scare me ! Thanks for the great pictures. Burger & fries do look good.

Crunch, now WHO are you going to send that picture to ? ha,ha,ha. Only a 'rhetorical' question.

Coffee gone and time to have some cereal or oatmeal.
See y'all later,
Bernie

Buenas Dias

Thank you PJ for posting the pix.  Blimps are amazing glad you had a glimpse, would like to see one up close one day. Congrats on the newest wee one, wow what lashes!

Healing prayers sent for you Twirley.

Nipper did you fly out of TO to Bonaire?

JJ glad you made it safely home after class.

UHK not all females shop that way... how does a beach with a computer sound?  Funny fellow.

Badge that is so lovely to find Roy!  Bless Babs for bringing the doll, so sweet.  See you manana.

Great moderator to have your Dad talk to someone in a AL facility, look for one that has CARF accreditation.  Crunch Alternately right click on the image and save.

Cindy you put so much effort into being perfect, think you need a doobie. LOL  You will get it right one year.

Chris post the letter in your own style and screw everything up ROTF, ooops the devil in me came out. That’ll be two lumps of coal for me and yippee back on the naughty list.

Jamie congrats on the heater and shears.  Love a good shear for the kitchen, so useful.

BeBe my exact thoughts about the forums, business choice for sure, expensive.  Our old home came with silverfish... no kidding – my worst nightmare.  They get into your gyprock, you are toast forever.  BTW a lavender oil spray they don’t like, thrive on moist environments, ie water bowls. An

MB that was quite the cleaning workout, those dust collectors are a PITA.

We received the first heavy frost back home.   Make it a good day all.

Good morning BCers!
Gloomy day with misting of rain.
Lil doggie is feeling much better.  We just had a rousing game of fetch.
Now she is all tuckered out.

Cindy,  Yes,  I do come from a large family.  Love that the little girls are getting
beautiful old fashion names.  Enjoy the grandchildren tomorrow.

Twirls, so glad the church will be picking up the children's Christmas presents.
Bless you for making sure they have a wonderful Christmas morning.
Thinking of you and so hoping you find some relief from pain.  Hugs

Crunch,  OMG!  Now that was a surprise!   Maybe he should have waited until such time
as shadows would be longer to take that picture.

Bernie,   You sound like my big brother.   LOL   My mom got so mad at him one year
before the big Christmas get together.  Mom had been sick and in the hospital.
He insisted that they should just get deli trays and desserts.  Paper plates, etc.
Save all that work and preparation.   Mom wasn't having it!  That was the Christmas
big brother learned to make gravy and pie.   Mom sat in her recliner and schooled him.  Ha! Ha!
Now he proudly makes different types of pie all the time.

UpHill,   I love moments like that Blimp passing by.   The delightful and unexpected.

MB,  Good for you carrying on traditions and favorite recipes.   Hugs

jj,  You will do great on those tests.   Go get em!

Morning all

SOSO, your suggestion that Cindy smoke a doobie made me spew coffee across the room.

Cindy, mom put me on THE CHRISTMAS LETTER detail one year...  I actually think those things are pretty stupid.  Most people write about the regular stuff like who got married, who had babies, who got a new job or promotion or who was sick.
We hadn't had a great year, that year, and the one she started was full of WOE.   I took control and penned a quite hysterical version of the same details.  She was aghast!  Well I sent them out my way and she had lots of responses that people said they LOVED IT, instead of the same ole stuff.  So it became a new tradition.  After that year people actually looked forward to OUR letter.  I did the same with her funeral.  I'm sure most people don't remember much about funerals but my friends are still LOL about mom's.  Laughter is a great gift to share.

Bernie, I am feeling a bit better recovering from the upper respiratory infection.
I LOL about your day with Andrea.  I could just hear her bubbly PEEPING and your deep sighs of desperation.  I remember shopping for your spoon rest and T shirt!  You are just as bad.  Remember me saying "BERNIE, BUY THE DAMN SHIRT"???  I don't think you ever found a suitable spoon rest that trip even though we looked at every shop in 3 different areas.

All I want now is to be able to walk upright.  I have a 1:30 eye check up and not sure how to manage that.  I can drive but I will have to take my walker and I don't know that I can manage it by myself.  Chris is still sick and my neighbour is busy.   UBER...???

Good luck with your eye appointment, Holly. Hope the pain management helps also and glad you were able to arrange pickup for the presents for the youngsters, so good and generous of you to do that. I also remember Bernie shopping for the spoon rest that one year, we must have stopped in a ton of places and I don't recall him having success, he wanted a very specific design.

crunch, glad to hear your dad is willing to consider assisted living and talk to Tom's relative. Hope he can find a good one, maybe make some new friends to eat with, play cards, watch TV, etc.

PJ, the pics of the new baby are so cute, such a pretty name.

SoSo, good to hear from you, hope you two are having a wonderful time as usual.

Badger, good pictures as usual and those look like nice juicy burgers, but no way I could eat one without deconstructing it, as my mouth is pretty small, at least that is what my dentist always tells me. Score on the crown, the one I had last winter cost me $430, and just finished paying off Carecredit. Hope both your treatments go well.

We had a lot of rain yesterday, with the usual mudslides in burn areas, some towns in Orange County (where Disneyland is) got 2" in 2 hours so streets flooded as the storm drains could not handle it all.
It was raining really hard, or like my late FIL used to say, it was raining "like a cow peeing on a flat rock" and woke me about 5am or so. Rain didn't stop either until 1pm which is not usual for LA area. Back to mid 60's today and might hit low 70's Sunday, so a good day to get my gift cards.

Cindy, how many tubs of Christmas decor do you have, anyway? You really go all out.

Good evening.  17 and clear.  Brrrr.  Up early and tree service arrived at 8 a.m.  All trees, with exception of seedless Marshall Ash out front trimmed up.  3 guys and finished in one hour.  Talked to brother Phil about the turkey on the grill which he would happily do. So game on for that and ham.  Was going to run some errands but then the snow showers started and I wimped out and got a few more things done around.  Manana is fine.

SoSo, beautifully frosted trees and view back home.  Enjoy the tropics for now.  Hope you two can meet up with B&B and are feeling better.

Twirls, I enjoyed our chat too.  Take care and hugs.  Thankful for your neighbor, Chris and niece that lends a hand when able.

Jamie, are there more weather related incidents in CA now than in the past?  Seems to me there has been an up tic. Just curious.

Those hamburguesas look darn good.I don't know what it is, but I always crave a hamburger at some point south of the border with fries.  I'm just saying.....

Cindy, enjoy time with DiDi and Seth tomorrow.  I want a pic when she sees the snowman tree for the first time.  It will be nice to have both of your sons home for Christmas.  What's for dinner?

Speaking of dinner, Bernie you best shutty uppy or I might buy myself a ticket and crash your Christmas plans with Deb.  Perhaps Holly would like to join in.  Double the trouble.

Bob, I'm not much of a shopper anymore.  I am leaning to the right.

PJ, delightful and unexpected is the best.  Love when that happens.

Crunchie, Happy Funny Friday.

Have a beautiful evening everyone and be happy. MB

I rate myself WAY far from perfect! As for the doobie (FYI, I believe they're called "blunts" these days, kinda like the guy in the betraying shadow picture), Wisconsin has yet to legalize and Mr. Christian can also be called Mr. Law and Order. A far cry from his attitude when I first met him in college. But hey, if you want to ship me some from legal Canada, I can assure you I wouldn't complain! Just don't tell my kids!
And BTW, beautiful pictures. I love it when we get hoar frost mornings here. so breathtakingly pretty!
Cindy
and I really don't want to admit it, but for those asking, I believe it is around 18 storage tubs, not counting the tree boxes. But not all gets used every year, if that is any kind of excuse.

SoSo, I don't even want to know how you altered that picture, or what was going through your mind as you did.

Good Morning
What I thought was a funny reply to SoSo's post earlier got Chris all upset and telling me to delete it. I hope you all realize I was just joking around.

Gonna make low-sodium soup for lunch today. DIL has a heart checkup Monday and wants to keep the salt levels down. I don't use much salt anyway. Chicken, carrots, taters, etc. Will also haul out the bread maker and start up some rosemary bread. And a fruit salad.

Afternoon will either be Christmas cards or cookie baking. Haven't made up my mind yet.
Have a wonderful day!

SoSo, we flew Halifax - Newark - Bonaire with United. We clear US customs & immigration here so there is a short time in Newark. We had a chuckle with that as after the signs that tell you not to take excess liquids through, there was a bin to leave your cannabis! On the way home we had to stay over in Newark.

A few random photos this morning

Eggs Benedict yesterday at El Nicho, always delicious

This photo is for Senor Law and Order
Only $15 U.S. at the new Chedraui

Next time you are having a bad day, maybe think of the guy behind the cement mixer, lower left, he spends all day pulling concrete blocks 2 at a time or full buckets of mortar 4 stories up, by hand, using a rope and pulley.

Christmas decorations in the square

Good Morning.
It's a balmy 19 degrees this morning.  BUT we might hit mid 30's so that will feel like a heat wave and I won't need to lug a coat around.
Badger.. those burgers!  making my mouth water for sure.

SoSo... beautiful view you have.

Cindy... I have close to that many bins and boxes of Christmas.  When we moved, I got rid of a few. Now I'm down to my favorites, which I have no room for in this house and Mr JJ wants me to thin out that collection.  *sigh

Crunch  that photo is hilarious!

Bernie can probably find his spoon rest on Etsy.  I love looking at that website.

I'm watching my SIL little dog this weekend.  Thursday night I think he slept 2 hours and the rest of the night he whined. We put in in our bed, we put him in his kennel, we put his kennel in our room and left the door open, we put his blanket on our bed, we put his blanket on the floor. Finally, we just let him roam and whine in the living room.  UGH... Mr. JJ let him run outside for a while yesterday and Jax was yawning last night.. At first, he would not lay down.  Finally I snuggled (just held him down) him and he fell asleep until about 2.  I had to snuggle him again and he stayed asleep until 6.  He finally ate this morning, but he constantly whines.  I'm guessing he has some anxiety and misses his Mom.  He is totally a mama's boy.  Anyway, at least we all got some sleep last night.

Not sure what's on the agenda today.  I need to finish Christmas shopping.  I've only bought one gift.  I usually do online, but I need to actually see the stuff in real life. Besides, we aren't sure on my MIL.  She expects a present and is very difficult to buy for.  I hate it when people expect presents.

I need to go find myself a cheeseburger and fries somewhere.......

Enjoy your weekend Clubbers.

Crunch, we figure we help pay for a large portion of our vacation just by the $$ we save having our dental work done here, and what a great place to "recuperate"!

PJ and JJ, don't you ever look at the Friday Funnies? They're not all that bad, although sometimes that Frank character......

MB, I am the same about burgers, after about a week of seafood and Mexican food, my body craves a big ol' juicy hamburger.

Bernie, the owner of Burger Underground is originally from Detroit, I stopped by for a chat yesterday and he was surprised that even though there are not a lot of tourists here yet, he had already sold over 50 by late afternoon.

Twirls, how are you feeling today?

Babs has been getting a stiff neck at night from the pillows here, we might venture over to La Colonia to see if we can find something better for her, then meeting VSD and SoSo later.

Morning all

Miserable night trying to sleep.  I woke several times with HORRIBLE butt pain.  Actually it's not confined to my butt.  It runs down my left leg and wrapped around my ankle.
This morning I'm seeing a Neuro muscular pain guru guy.  He was highly recommended for sciatica.
At least the snow and ice missed us but it's going to be extremely cold and windy.

Howdy and good morning everyone.

Cloudy this AM with signs of past rain on the deck. Weather radar shows heavy rain heading this way and we will probably have rain off and on all day. Current temp is 45F at 8:17 with a high not much more than the current temperature : 48 degrees

Slept in a little past 8. Probably would have still been still sleeping if Freddie hadn't jumped on the bed and started meowing and pawing me awake. I didn't do anything strenuous yesterday so I assume it's this cold that is sapping my energy. So far, just a normal head cold.

Today Jamie is supposed to come over to look at Bryan's tree that he wants cut down. He said he would also check my chain saw. It starts fine and runs OK but the chain is not getting very much bar oil. If it's not raining, Jamie will hang my Christmas lights on the roof-line above the garage door and pull my other lighting down from storage in the garage attic ( snowman, deer, wreath, other ). If weather is too yucky, will reschedule for another day.

Not much else on my list today but a trip to Walgreen's to pick up a 'script. I looked into cabinets yesterday for any evidence of silverfish. Was using a high intensity LED light but no luck thus far. Today I will closely check my closet plus the drawers in master bedroom furniture.

SoSo, beautiful pictures from your area back home. Thank you. Otherwise, you be bad on that altered picture of the guy and his...... hat.

PJ, happy to hear your little dog is doing better.

Jamie, I remember that day with you, me and Holly. Yes, that was a long day in Play del Carmen. I never did find that type of mosaic tile pieces embedded into the spoon rest. Finally gave up on that style and purchased one in Tulum the following year. Funny you mentioned that story, as I just broke that spoon rest a few weeks ago. Now I'll need to find another one.

Holly, I do remember the "endless" search for just the right t-shirt at the right price. I drove you crazy. Thinking I finally purchased two of them in Puerto Morelos. One of them you found for me had a big green iguana on it. You handed it to me and said "buy this, it will look nice on you. Besides, I'm not looking with you in any more shops".  I bought it. True dat.  Good luck with doctor today.

MB, I will 'clam up'. hee, hee.

Cindy, I din't see anything worth getting upset about. Matter of fact, if someone is going to send you some "stuff", please let me know. I could use some as well. Hee,hee.

  Hi Crunch.
  Hi nipper.

  That's all for now.
See ya later,
Bernie

Weekend at Bernie's

Nipper, I wouldn't mind having the job of TRASH COLLECTOR at that airport.  As of 2 days ago medical marijuana in MO is now legal and can be discussed with your Dr.  LOL.  I've been talking to my Dr about it for quite some time now.

Eyes are great.  Can't get used to going to bed and still seeing.  I keep thinking that I need to remove my contacts!

Paul, I saw that burger place last month but didn't try them.  I thought there were 2 New burger places?  Little Italy was great though.  Have you ever eaten there?
BTW, the Chedruari in the colonia had an ATM that allowed a 5000 peso withdrawal rather than the average 3000 and a decent exchange rate.  Wonder if the new one has same?
