Morning all
I tried posting yesterday but lost it.
I decided not to go to Eureka.  I really needed to get some stuff put away.  Plus I had some fall colored silk flowers to arrange.  Gem and Shana had brought a beautiful metal basket filled with consumable goodies for our weekend (which we didn't consume but I'm working on it).  I put the fabulous basket in service as a floral centerpiece last night.  I almost have it finished but ran out of fillers like moss for the edges.  I have over filled it and may need Cammie's touch to oversee my work.
Speaking of Cammie.  I was so in trouble for speaking to her helper awhile back, but she has come to the realization that he WAS OVER ORDERING and costing her way too much money and wasting fresh flowers that would go bad over weekends.  Plus his work wasn't quite her standards, so she cut his hours and his ordering privileges.  Which means she is now putting in 70 hour weeks.  She now understands the side effects of being the owner and boss.  You still have to oversee everything and everyone, which also takes time.  You just can't leave things up to others even if they should be qualified do the job.

Pearl was a bad girl yesterday and managed to somehow get the TV remote from the living room ( that I don't use) and in my short absence, chewed the HELLo out of it.   It was found in the solarium room that I watch TV in.  I don't even know when or how she got it or how she smuggled it in.  I have a gate to keep her out of the main house but I did allow her to follow me out there a couple of times yesterday.  She is sneaky because I never saw her with the remote prior to my short absence, but somehow she smuggled it from the front room.

Today I'm going to smoke a turkey breast.  It's supposed to be a high of 82 and we are forecast for a beautiful week of Indian Summer.  Highs almost in the 90's with a heat index above 90.  I'm glad my pool is still open and although water has cooled down, I can still get on a floatie without getting too wet.  Once you are HOT, the water feels pretty good.  Better yet is soaking in the hot tub and then running into the pool!  It's a real pore treatment.  No pun intended.

That's about it.  Everyone else's comments or questions seem to be the same I'd say so posting it again is redundant.

I'm glad Paul is on the job but too bad about the rain.  Maybe you can get a few hours of rest and hopefully the rain ends soon.

Good morning BCers!
Weather is in the gorgeous range.  Windows open!

Uphill,  Thanks for the beautiful views.

jj,  I do a lot of eye rolls at boxes around here.  Never really had this house under control
since moving in nearly 18 years ago.

Cindy,  sorry about the lighted mirror.  Maybe Badger can fix it for you.

Happy Birthday to Mr. JJ

On Friday I told my boss I was retiring. So I guess it's real. WooHoo. He was both happy for me and sad that I'm leaving. I've known him for over 30 years and he's been my boss for the last 16. My official retirement date is 12/1/18. My last day will be 11/29/18.

It's a beautiful day here today.

Have a great day everyone!

jj, our weather is similar, 75 today and 80 tomorrow but rain and possible thunderstorms Wednesday (we can use the rain). Happy birthday to Mark.

Beautiful pictures UHK, thanks so much.

Hope Badger and C&C have a great time and the rain lifts so they can get some work done as planned.

Congrats on the pending retirement, Beach Billy.

Bernie, hope that Nell's does reopen. Sounds like a real nice place.

Had a skunk hanging around our building for a week or two, on the half landing (which they call the "rock garden") late night and early morning. Landlord managed to trap it somehow, not sure what they did with it, we were told it would not be harmed. Have a great rest of the weekend all.

Good afternoon.  52 and partly cloudy.  Early church followed by another tanning session and 3 other stops.  Cut all the hostas down and made a trip to compost site short distance away.  Pretty much done with fall clean-up until I return.

Was good to see Green Bay win and Houston.  Not much else going on here.  Did a little bit more packing, but will most likely finish tomorrow.  Tuesday will be busy with boarding Maya and last minute details.  6 a.m. flight on Wednesday.

Happy BD to Mr. JJ.  Enjoy those warmer temps folks as long as you can and Bob thanks for the nice pics.  Skunk hanging around no bueno Jamie.  Have a beautiful evening everyone.  Gotta get to a few more things.  Later, MB

Evening all
I was all set for Sunday night football, thinking it was the KC GAME.  NOT!  Darn it, . I was really looking forward to it!  Oh well, tomorrow night I have something to look forward to...

MB, nice talking with you.  I do hope you have a fabulous trip.

Bob, your pics are breath taking.  Literally, I'm sure, just to get there!  You sure stay in shape.

Bernie, hoping you are high and dry, LOL.  And well fed.  I'm sure you are, even with Nel's closed.  I hope it's temporary.  I hate it when my local places close up.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MR. MARK!  I'm wishing you a FANTASTIC YEAR!

C & C, I know how Paul can get when he can't work due to unforseen delays, like rain.  I'm sure you do too.  Hopefully it cleared up and he was able to get some work accomplished.

My turkey breast turned out moist and juicy!  I used pomegranate and cranberry juice in the water pan with hickory, Maple and Apple wood.  Mac and cheese in the oven and broccoli salad on the side.  Probably most will feed my neighbor's family tomorrow night while she teaches piano.  I now try to have their Monday night dinner prepared and ready to reheat.  She is very good to Pearl and myself.

Dang, Hallmark channel is a movie I saw last night.  I may 're watch FRANKIE AND GRACE.

Good Morning Bomb-Diggitys, it's Moanday.

Belated Happy Birthday to Mr. JJ, any chance you two can make it to the party in PoMo in May?

Twirls, food sounds delish! Sorry I didn't get a chance to call you, but will soon.

Bernie, how did the date go?

BBilly, congrats on your pending retirement, now you have no excuse for not joining us in PoMo next spring!

MB, is it wrong for me to be jealous of your trip?

Well, we worked thru a light rain all day yesterday, but did manage to get a lot done, Chris was a big help. We quit in time to catch the last bit of the Packer game and then had a very good squash soup that Cindy made. Definitely need the recipe for the soup. Bad news is that today is supposed to bring even heavier rain, but we need to keep going.

Wag more....bark less.

Good Morning
Welcome to October. Twirls, yes. I do make fried apples in the fall, and thanks for the idea! I'm going to make pork chops for dinner tonight, so that would be an ideal side.
Was good to see Chris out helping the guys yesterday and getting some exercise. Me, it took forever to peel and chop the squash for the soup, but I had my little kitchen TV on the Packer game to keep me company.
PJ, so happy to hear we'll be seeing you next spring!
BB, congrats on your retirement! You'll be free to join the group in PoMo next spring! Do come!
Thunder boomers overnight, but it looks from the radar that the heavier rain is going south of us, so hopefully the work will continue. I think they just left to go get some stuff from Home Depot and/or Menards. (across the street from each other, so quick trip)
MB, almost there!
Bernie, sorry about Nell's, but look at it as an opportunity to try places you haven't been to yet.
Happy Belated birthday to Mr. JJ!
Have  a puzzling appointment card on the fridge...says "Wed. 10/1" Need to call the office when they open at 9 to see if they have me down for Wed. or today. (Chiro)
Time to go start some laundry, have a wonderful day
Cindy

I hope that rain abates so you can get the work done.

Congratulations BB for setting the date and letting them know.

That is nice of you Twirley to provide dinner for them.

Bob - that looked like a beautiful hike.

MB - happy for your imminent departure south.  Have a great trip.  That desert sounded delicious.

Bernie - have fun on your "interview".

Supposed to be 88 here today.

Glad you got that skunk relocated before disaster hit Jamie.

Howdy and good morning everyone.

It's dark out !  This is not normal for me. The forecast calling for mostly sunny skies today. The current temp is 69F at 6:55 & a high of 80 degrees. October 1st might be the start of our cooler temperatures.

Yesterday my date was canceled again and reset for today at 4 o'clock, as Joyce wasn't going to be back from Raleigh until around dark. If this gal is trying to make me anxious, it's working. Reminds me of that song by The Clash : "Should I stay or should I go". Hee,hee.  I did get the grass finished, though.

Today is put the truck into the body shop day. I truly hope they do a good job and don't try to rush the work. That hurricane really put them behind scheduled repairs. I also need to get my rear gutters cleaned out but I will NOT climb up on my 12' step ladder without someone to hold the ladder for me. I have a safe method to keep the legs from sinking through the rock border but it will be more secure if I have help. Other than that, no other work needed today.

Badger, crossing my fingers for you to have better weather.

jj, those boxes are the "scourge of moving". So easy to keep putting off the job, for sure. When you finally get to unpacking, try to make a "give away pile" and ask yourself if your really need that item. Old pots & pans, glassware and clothing make good candidates for charity. Some good will come from your donations. Hope Mr jj had a good birthday.

Holly, sounds like Cammie has finally 'grown up'.  Owning your small business will do that. Thanks for your concern but I am fine and "high & dry".  You sound like you are doing better. Yes ?

Cindy, sound like you are taking care of "the boys" in the food department. I see the Packers won. Go Pack.

Hi Jamie. Hi PJ.

BB, congrats on the retirement plans. December right around the corner and the time will go quickly. I would ask all of your coworkers to give you restaurant gift cards at the retirement party. They come in very handy down the road. Hope to meet you in PoMo next year.

MB, two days ! Whoopee !

Crunch, 88 degrees ?  I thought you said it was Fall in your area ?

Must get ready.
See everyone later,
Bernie

Bob, your pics are breath taking.  Literally, I'm sure, just to get there!  You sure stay in shape.

Twirley, I weigh about 30 lbs more than when you last saw me, many moons ago. When you say breath taking, you are correct! You and I both have weight issues. If only we could spread some of that each other's way!

It's raining today. I have a small town project to wrap up. I'm about to visit the electrician and grab the conduit and install it myself. Then the guys can backfill the trench, and can do the concrete.

You may remember I had some garage floor repairs to do. I have waited 28 days for that patch job to cure (seems to be some arbitrary standard) and then I sealed the floor with some sort of hardener, to fill the pores in the concrete to prevent spalling in the future. We'll see how I did come spring, of course.

Anyways, my brother was over the other day, and I showed him my patch job. He and I both were thinking about his front steps, precast concrete that have seen a good deal of salt over the years. A couple years back, we built a roof over the steps, which has pretty well eliminated a lot of his icing problems. Here are the before and after pictures of his steps.

This used to be my job, way back when I worked commercial construction.

Something funky happening with LG. I'll post this now. More later.  Have a great day!

Lovin life,
Bob

Dang it!  I neglected to CONGRATULATE BB on your retirement date.
Maybe we can visit and do some travelling?

Cindy, fried apples are a great dish to serve with pork!  Mom usually did that.
I love them.
I hope the work can continue uninterrupted by the weather.

2 nights in a row that I have been able to sleep almost all night.  I've been taking an 800 mg ibuprofen at bedtime although the Dr told me it's killing my 1 kidney.  I know I have to quit but not before the new bed gets here Thursday.  This one is too hard.  I hope I'm not going to be "baby bear" and need to change beds again before  I get one that "just right" LOL.  I did order the softest bed they offered.

So far it's a beautiful day and a high of 80 expected.

Happy Monday

Had an easy weekend on-call.

Thanks for the retirement well-wishes.

Twirls...That sounds like a great idea. I have to work out some kind of critter care system. I hate asking the same people all of the time. I'll look into professionals for any extended trips.

Bernie...WE HAVE MET. Glad I left a lasting impression on you,

Another gorgeous day today. Hope the workday goes fast.

Today is my Dad's 91st birthday. It also would have been my husband's 73rd Bittersweet I guess.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good morning BCers!
Cloudy here... temps are climbing again.  85F expected.
Might have to turn a/c on this afternoon.  Got a bit warm upstairs yesterday afternoon.
SJ was pretty down all weekend with the cold.   It was a slow weekend around here.
Gave SJ the info I had gathered on PoMo for next May.  After telling him about the Saturday morning
non stop flights out of Nashville on Southwest at great price.  Plus discounted hotel price.
He agreed we should book now.  So I pushed the buttons.  Sat. May 4th - Sat. May 11th.  Yeah!
Since flight and HHM are non refundable.  Also pushed button on some trip insurance.

Twirls,  hope you can find a more comfortable bed.
It is time for some fried apples in my cast iron skillet.  Usually make for Sunday brunch in the fall.

BB,  Congrats on picking a retirement date.
Happy 91st birthday to your dad and to Joe in heaven.  Hugs

Cindy,  we need pic of Badger and Chris working together.
Will you please share recipe for squash soup.  Sounds yummy!

Uphill,  great job on your brother's front steps.

Need to get moving ... errands to run today.
Wishing all of you a wonderful day!

Hey guys.  Truck in the body shop. Got my rental car : a Nissan Rogue; cute little thing.

Darn, my morning post was all messed up; a partial duplicate within the original post. Odd. Corrected now.

  Nice looking repair job, Bob.

BeachBilly, you DID leave a lasting impression. Har,har, har. Sorry, I can't remember shix any more.

Possible date with the never ending date changer said she couldn't make it today; she is still in Raleigh. She gets back tomorrow and has a birthday planned for a friend..how about Wednesday ? Wrote back that she seems to be too wrapped up with her kids & other stuff, so I have decided to date other gals as they may occur and I seek a steady girlfriend that is available for travel.

That's it for now. Gonna go get some pesos.

Don't feel bad Bernie.  I can't either and I think you have some years on me.  I do remember that at 4:30 today I'm getting $2,700 for my Dodge Dakota that has 323,187 miles on it.  Can't decide if I'm headed to the bank or the casino!  Would have taken $2,000 so I'm feeling pretty good!

Good evening.  47 and cloudy.  Did not venture out today.  Heavy and steady rains earlier.  Concentrated on paperwork and organization of trip stuff.  Need to be creative as one checked bag, no carry-on and 1 small personal item on board which will essentially be my laptop and travel document, pesos, USD and whatever else I can fit in the limited pouches.

Frank, great news on the sale of Dakota.   Sweet.

Pam, my thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.

Badger, it's okay to be jealous only wish that some of us LG'rs dates would have overlapped.  Will be missing Holly, Crunch and a couple of others dang. Perhaps May is the next option for some of us.  Best of luck with this weather.

Bernie, had a good laugh when reading your morning post.  WTH happened?  Good on you to blow off the chica that keeps rescheduling.  Not worth it.  Hummmmm....pesos?  Are you pulling a Bosco?

Bob, nice work on brother's step repair.  Quite the transformation.

BeachBilly, so glad you put in your date.  That takes some pressure off.  Good girl.  Happy BD to Dad's 91st.  Probably a sad day for you as well.  Still sending prayers your way.  Did you ever get that water leak issue resolved?

Cindy, we need some pics of the work action happening at your place.  How did the check engine light thing work out for you?

Twirls, good luck on new bed.  I swear it is easier to buy a vehicle.  You need to get off that ibuprofen chica.  I'm just saying and you know that I am not shy about saying it.  Enjoyed our visit on phone, take care.

Wishing peace and healing to all.  MB

Evening all

PJ, see you in spring!
Cathy, instead of going in March, go in May.  Or go with me to escape in February and in May.
Frank, can't you 2 get away for a week?
I'm happy many are interested.  I'll plan to be there.

Today Pearl became a more expensive dog...   I took mom's pearls, that Pearl  somehow got from a bag on my dresser.  The necklace was a present from my dad in the 60's.  Thankfully they are individually knotted so she only got 4 chewed off, but I have to have the whole thing restrung.  I didn't find one end of the clasp.  Thankfully the diamond studded fancy part was on the surviving end.  I'm not sure I found all the pearls.  We did check her poop.  The minimum repair is $82.00!  And while I was there I spotted a couple of very nice rings...
BTW, my jeweler told me that now is the time to buy gold or jewelry.  Apparently gold went down again.  He is actually upside down in several pieces he has for sale.  He's willing to make good deals in order to turn the inventory.

I got worn out today.  Went to the chiropractor at 11.  Came back and did a few things.  Mostly put stuff away.  Then went to the store.  Unloaded and put away the groceries.  Then I started dinner for my neighbor family. I only had to do the fried apples.  The turkey and Mac and cheese just had to be packaged up.  And a few deviled eggs because I was craving them.  I added Mississippi Mud cake (store bought) for dessert.  I love doing it and they say they love my food and they appreciate it.  She usually takes Pearl to romp with her Labrador almost every day and she has been a great help in many ways.
I was so worn slick by the time I got everything finished for them by 4:30,  that I sat down and only moved to get more wine!  I did eat quite a bit all day and I'm stuffed.  The turkey is so good.

Looking forward to the game tonight!  GO CHIEFS!!!

Badger unfortunately will be not be in the Akumal area during May for the gathering, lots of folks are coming for a BD party, Derby etc. Will be staying in PoMo this Dec. twice in a year yikes lol.

Cindy good plan with getting the insect soap on those plants prior to bring them in. Need to get myself some eco aphid remover for next season, all the leaves were crawling.

Hi Mapes, you two coming down in spring?

Twirls will you be down in MX for a Feb visit, hope to catch up with you.

Crunch glad to hear improvements are happening, hopefully you will be back to your normal soon. Ya have some serious snorkeling about to happen soon.

Rather surprised Badger hasn't posted yet. Both he and Chris were up before me. Supposed to be sunny (FINALLY) today. It rained off and on all day yesterday, but they worked on getting some electrical stuff done. Hoping to see some siding actually go up today. And tonight is seafood enchiladas at the hitching post! I get a little break from the cooking. I think the apples and pork chops were a hit last night, Dwayne, (Paul's "crew") had never had fried apples before and was good to have him clean out the bowl so there weren't any leftovers. DIL may come for a visit today with DiDi. Curious to see if she calls Paul "Papa" like she does with most men not her father. Will try and get some picks today.

PJ, I'll send you the recipe later on today. Don't actually have anything written down, a friend described it and I went from there.
But other than the cutting of the squash, it is pretty easy, just adjust for how many you're feeding.
MB, The problem with Chris' car was the sensor to the gas cap. Jake said sometimes they just wear out. He was able to get it done same day. Not cheap though. I think Chris said $80. But better than not knowing and have that light flashing.
Time for another cuppa. Have a wonderful day.
Cindy

Bernie...WE HAVE MET. Glad I left a lasting impression on you,

BBilly, I think all of us are starting to suffer from a little memory loss, including Beach Barney, er...ah...I mean Beach BERNIE.

Good Morning Clubbers, it's Twosday.

MB, you HAVE to come to PoMo in May, our last big BC party was all the way back in September of 2011 at the ABR and who knows when/if we will be able to do this again?

SoSo, we'll miss you next spring, where are you staying in December in PoMo?

More rain off and on again yesterday, but we did manage to get the barn wired and make substantial progress on the new doors, hoping the weather clears up for a few days.

Good morning poop checkers.  Sorry Twirley, I couldn't resist.  That Pearl!

Glad the weather is improving so the job can get done.

Soso - you sound busy.  When do you leave?  Snow tires soon made me laugh.  88 or 90 here today.  Our Fall is certainly different than yours.  I am not really better at all.  The Neurontin just keeps the symptoms in the barely tolerable range.  I go back friday and will schedule the day surgery spinal injection.  Not sure that is the answer though.  It feels like something is compressing the nerve and I wonder if it will eventually require surgery to release it.  They start with the least invasive stuff so I have to go along with that program.

Bernie - I don't blame you a bit. All the date changes were kind of rude.

Congrats frank on getting such a good price for your car.

PJ - hope you are staying as far from SJ as you can.  Congrats on the trip booking.

MB - are you feeling antsy and unsettled?  Anticipation can be fun and hard.  Turning in Maya today will really make you feel like you are on your way.

Howdy and good morning all.

Just now getting to be daylight. Gotta stop waking up in the dark; I don't like it ! Will be mostly sunny today with a high of 84 degrees. Current temp is 72 degrees at 7:06

Got the gutter in the back cleaned out. Man, it was really stopped up with debris from the hurricane. Lot's of leaves and pine needles all mixed with some yucky black gooey mud-like stuff. Ugh. My new neighbor Chet held the ladder steady for me. Nice guy. He just got a contract on his previous home in Statesville NC. It needed some repairs before he could get it on the market.

Not a whole lot planned today. I do need to drive back to the Hertz rental place to pick up my paperwork that I left on the rental guy's desk yesterday.

Frank, memory loss is just a thing that happens once in a while to me and I don't worry about many things in life. Look at the bright side: I get to meet BeachBilly again and gain another "new" friend. hee, hee.

Speaking of which, where did we meet BB and the year ?  I should have remembered a pretty gal like you !

Wow PJ, you don't mess around when booking your Mexico trips. Congrats. I wish we had Southwest airlines close to my area.

No MB, I'm not pulling a Bosco, although it would be cool to see Joe & Connie again. I booked a short visit back in July; had the free miles so why not ?  I will be in Tulum for 5 nights.

Holly, very nice of you to make some meals for your neighbors.

Hi SoSo. You know, I think I will do a beach walk today. Will take the camera with me so you can see what changes there are at Ocean Isle Beach. I'm not sure what "fluff her off means"...Canadian speak ??  ha,ha.

Cindy, the Hitching Post sounds great for a break in your cooking efforts. No dishes, right ?  I wish I had a good Mexican restaurant around here; have 3 of them within 6 miles but they are all 'fair' at best.

Badger, I think we have met ???  Nothing wrong with my memory, Fred ! hee, hee. I am starting to look at flights for May next year but thus far, good flight time down and crappy one on the return. I will see what turns up in the future.

Crunch, thanks for your support. I honestly just lost interest in meeting her. Hope that spinal injection works.

Time to get moving for the day.
See y'all,
Bernie
