Good day all.  Up early to get an early start on lawn.  Started around 9 and all was done by noon including cleaning both bird baths, bird seed in feeder, flowers watered and flag out.  It was 87 when I finished.  Expected high of 95.

Happy birthday Cindy.  Hope you have a lovely day.

Frank, good news on the tenant.  Glad it all worked out for both of you.

Badger, enjoy your dinner at Mexican restaurant.

PJ, nice that SJ has a few days off.  Enjoy your time together

Nipper, I couldn't view the last two pics you posted, but I did see the earlier ones.  Thanks.

Bernie, busy day with Deb.  I'm sure she enjoys your company.  Maybe that's why she doesn't get her own Costco membership?   Put you feet up after the lawn work.

Bosco, nice photo of you and Connie.  You too Bernie.

Bob, watch out for those darn black flies.  A lot of things on your to do list. Have fun checking them off.

Holly, a pool sounds really nice right now with this heat wave.  Maybe I should set up my kiddie pool on the deck.

Make it a beautiful day.  MB

Happy birthday, Cin..

MB, nice pictures of the ceremony, very poignant.

Frank, good news about the tenant.

Holly, don't you have one of those garage doors that you open with a remote control? My building has one and they work great, except for when the battery starts to die, like mine did today. Fortunately the manager saw, and got me a replacement battery so I could run a few errands, including picking up a chili dog (good but too big, should have gone with the grilled cheese).

Bad news, my check engine light is starting to come on, think it might be the brakes since they sometimes make a little metallic sound. Will make an appointment for week after next (I don't drive much and replacement crown is this coming week).

Beautiful tribute MB. Thank you for sharing.
Happiest of birthdays to you Cindy.
Dad is going to put my bro and I in an early grave or mental hospital. Enough said.
So hot here my menopause is in overdrive. Yikes.

Many thanks for all the birthday wishes!
Stinking hot here too. I shouldn't complain after the winter from hell. Prolly lost a couple of pounds from sweating, so that can only be a good thing.
We are all cleaned up and heading to church tonight, and Mexican dinner for us, too, afterwards. Son #2 and family will be joining us for church and dinner, (our treat) and then tomorrow morning they are taking us to breakfast at one of my favorite places. So, some Seth and DiDi time. Hope DiDi can stay relatively quiet in church, don't want to rattle the new young Pastor. Then again, he and his wife are expecting their first child in July, so he might as well get used to it. And I for one will happy to be in air conditioning. Although it is not bad in our house with the ceiling fans going.

Crunch, I hope you get your Dad settled somewhere where you can keep an eye him. At least somewhere where you can have peace of mind.

Happy Birthday, Cindy!  You look MAHVELUS, Dahlin! I don't know why that popped into my head but it works for your occasion.

Anyone who wants to come to my house is welcome anytime.  Even if I don't happen to be here!

Had more helpers today.  Not cheap but willing.  A lot was accomplished including things I didn't plan to do right now...Cammie was here...so the coffee table has 1 coat of paint that isn't the right color.  It's neon flamingo red instead of burnt orange coral.  Oh well, I was going to cover it with black and crackle the finish.  I'll do a 2nd coat in something less neon.  New flameless candles got batteries.  Some Windows got washed and Magic mesh screens were installed on 2 doors.  Pool was vacuumed, backwashed.  New solar light installed on the umbrellas.  AND MY GOURD LIGHT FROM MEXICO was hung up on the covered patio area. Etc, etc.   It's starting to look like a tropical paradise.  I have at least 23 planted bright coloured pots around the patio edge.  I just need a white sand beach...and I've thought long and hard about that but the sand would end up in the pool and every cat in the hood would find it first.
I'm worn out and about to eat some spaghetti.  I may go out for a drive later.  Looks like the rain went around us.

Buenas tardes!

Why shiver me timbers! 'Tis the day o' yea birth, Miss Cindy! Full sails n' calm seas taday and evermore, lass! Cheers!

The brothers are together again, MB; bet it was a beautiful service. 90s already!? Yikes! We've been hitting the low 80s the past few days...feels like MX!

Welcome home Kim, Tom, Bob, Lori, Joe & Connie. Your trip looks like it was a great time! Thanks for sharing all the pics Bob and Bernie.
Bob, what is/causes a "snorkeling concussion"?
Hope you can get your dad settled in somewhere, Kim, before insanity catches up to you.

Congrats to Diver Ron on #600 and to you Nipper on your shark siting.

I think Jay IS so proud of you, Holly, and I'll bet you are right; he rides with you when Roxanne leaves the garage. She has been behaving herself lately, si? Good idea on getting a caterer for your 7/4 party...wish I could be there!

JJ, Feel you on the loss of your job. Was in the same boat a few years back. 27 years and they decided they could do without my experience. The corporate mentality regarding the "bottom line" is inhumane, IMO. I'm my own "Boss" now, so I have time off whenever I want. Money is not as good, but weekends are mine and a lot less stress. Good luck!

The new tenant certainly sound like a keeper, Frank. Sorry to here you've been suffering with your feet. Can't believe they haven't figure out how to get you some relief.

Having your favorite company around for the weekend is the best, eh PJ? Still saying prayers for SC.

One of the downsides of taking a two week vacation, is having to play catch-up at work and at home.
Skipped out of work yesterday to mow the lawn again before we hit the mid 80s (60+ humidity), made a repair to the granddaughters' swing set, and planted the garden today after running around to a few tag sales. Don't really need anything (anything affordable, anyway), but I like looking. Just finished making a couple jars of spicy, pickled fiddle-heads. Will have to give them a month for the flavors to meld. Sweetie is at her 40th class reunion...I passed. Nothing planned for tomorrow, and two parades to attend on Monday, so a nice mellow weekend happening here.

I'll post some more pictures from our last trip...stand by.

Bob, what is/causes a "snorkeling concussion"?

We were getting ready to snorkel at Coral Princess. She was set to jump in, but then wanted to sit down and "scooch" in off the concrete pier. She lost her balance as she was sitting down and rolled backward. Her head hit the corner of the concrete step just behind her. She didn't miss a beat, but has had headaches and went to the doctor this morning. He gave her some of "those" pills!

Lovin life,
Bob

Good Morning Gardeners, it's Sunday.

Great pic of Bosco and Connie, thanks Bernie.

Patty, thanks for reposting that photo, right back at ya!

600 dives, wow!

PJ, glad you two have a 3 day weekend.

Twirls, sounds like a busy day.

Mapes, lots of familiar people and places, thanks for sharing.

MB, what are you up to today?

More perfect weather up here today, yesterday I got the basement egress window installed and in return received 3 free meals at our local Mexican restaurant. Works out well for both of us, owner is very happy and I made about the equivalent of $50/hour.
Forgot to bring my camera for food porn, but I'll try to remember to bring it today as the daughter of our friends Rick and Sheila is getting married.

Not sure why, but Cindy liked the birthday card she received from Chris much better than the one I got for her.

Howdy and good morning everyone.

Partly cloudy this AM with a chance of t-storms late today.  The current temp is 74F at 7:34 with a high of 81 degrees. The beach goers should be happy today.

Yesterday I finished up cutting the grass after I fed and visited Doug & Regina's cats. They are so happy to see anyone, so I spent a little time giving them some attention. Went over to the storage place and got the rusted bolts off the trailer plates and replaced with a set of new plastic ones. Afterwards I went back home to clean up for the day. I decided to return the extra cable box from the guest bed room). The cable company satellite office was just a few doors down from Fiber McGees so I decided to grab a late lunch; it was already 2 o'clock. Had one of my favorites : chicken fingers & fries. Was yummy as usual.  Put on a load of laundry after I got home and decided to watch some golf on TV. Shoot. Fell asleep and woke up at 5:30. Darn, missed the golf game. hee, hee.

Not too much on the agenda today. Probably make a grocery store run as I never did catch any sales during the week. The weather has been pretty good for a boat ride but no way will I go out during the Memorial Day weekend.

I missed your B-day, Cindy, so Happy Birthday just a day late !  Hope ya had a good one.

  Funny card, Badger.

Thank you for the updates and pictures, Ed.  Was nice to see a few folks still supporting the library in Akumal. Oh, good to see Mona & Brad.  Hi Mona ! Hi Brad !  I had to look up those pickled fiddle-heads you mentioned; never heard of them before.

Hi to everyone else. I need to get over to Doug's house to feed those cats; they are going to be PO'ed.
Catch y'all later,
Bernie

Good Morning
Was a good birthday, eldest stopped by in the afternoon with a card, also bearing one from youngest brother. He was down at their place for a run. Wasn't very happy because Uncle Dan beat him by a minute. Dinner was good, no food porn, but I had quesadillas de espinanaca, delish. Didi behaved pretty well in church, only tried to wander off once. She did come out with some fairly loud "Ayes" (her way of saying Hi), figured out later a friend of mine was behind us making faces at her, so she was saying Hi back. Naughty Vanessa. Seth complained that there was too much mention of death in the prayers, said it "disturbed" him. Explained to him that was what Memorial Day was all about, and he eventually got past it.

Time for me to go get ready for birthday breakfast, been up since 4:30 and I'ma getting hungry. But did get all the nectar feeders cleaned and refilled, fresh oranges out. Another hot one today, 92. Still pleasant right now, though.
Have a wonderful day
Cindy

Good morning BCers!
Beautiful blue sky here.  So far all the rain cells have missed us.
Hear thunder and see lightening in the distance.  That is all.  So far great weekend for us.
Grilled up a huge rack of ribs yesterday.  Served with a lime marinated black bean and corn side dish. So yummy.
Spotted one tiny tomato coming on.  Can hardly wait for one to ripen.
Herbs and green onions planted from seeds are doing great.
Did some more research on NOLA road trip.  SJ wants to go to Ship Island in the Gulf of Mexico.
Takes about an hour by ferry boat ride out of Biloxi, MS to get to.  Should make for a fun day.

Maple,  Love the pictures!  Great group of people to spend time with in Mexico.  Cenote pics are awesome!

Bernie,  Will be cat sitting myself for next week.  I hear you about not taking the boat out on holidays.
Turns into stressful not enjoyable.

Wishing everyone a beautiful day.  Hugs

Getting back up to speed today. Got our vacation memory plaque hung. We have the guy doing the spray paint art make us a sea scene picture, with some memorable sea life  (that we saw this trip) on it. If you have never seen these guys do their thing, they really are quite talented, and it helps us preserve our memories.

Then I headed out to the shop, had several projects awaiting parts and warm weather. First up was replacing the seals in my rototiller (bought used). Some $30 in parts. First time, but a little Youtube video and gathering the proper tools, I am finished, I think. The shaft, cleaned and examined upon disassembly, ($87.00) has some wear on it. It may not be the seals that were bad, but the shaft. I'll find out soon enough, gonna let the gasket sealant dry up good and try 'er out tomorrow.

Next up, check out my nail gun, it failed me when I used it during cold weather a little while back. Works fine now, I oiled it up and and just accounting the failure to the very cold weather.

Then I wanted to re-work my stair template. I had the parts and wood sitting on the bench since fall, like I said, I just wanted warmer weather. It is so nice to have everything in good working order. I do not plan on going back to work, but I like my tools to be ready for action!

Always a business before pleasure type of guy, I have today's business attended to, I will be getting my bicycle down from the ceiling of my garage and taking 'er for a spin after lunch!

Ribs!!!! That got me thinking, I need to make a grocery run for red meat!!! Specifically burgers! And salad stuff. (Emptied the fridge before vacation). After the bike ride. Gonna do up a rotisserie chicken for this evening.

Gonna goof off now, Be well all!

Lovin life,
Bob

Greetings everyone.  Summer officially here with church service at 9:30 through Labor Day.  Got the flowers watered after church.  88 and filtered sunshine with a high of 94.  I'm hanging out in the AC today.  Think I may have overdid it yesterday in the heat doing the lawn work.  High of 99 predicted tomorrow.

Jamie, hope you get the car issue straightened around and the crown appointment goes well.

Cindy, I like you birthday approach carrying over the celebration to the next day.  Glad you enjoyed your special day and had a terrific breakfast this morning.

PJ, the ribs sound yummy.  I'm defrosting some for tomorrow.

Twirls, glad you're getting some more things done around your place.  How about some pics of your tropical pool setting and the new lighting from MX.  Sounds lovely.

Bernie, is Deb liking her new home?  She's still probably getting settled in.  Must be a little quiet around your place now.

Maplesyrup, thanks for the beautiful pics.  Did the kids ever close on the house?  You've been busy catching up on things.

Nipper, 600 dives.  Quite the accomplishment.  Congrats to Ron.

Crunchie, sorry about the Dad issues.  Hope you and your brother find a solution soon.

Bob, that's terrible what happened to Lori.  Glad it wasn't worse, but it probably gave everyone a good scare.  Hope she feels better real soon.

Badger, I got nothing going on today.  Officially my day of rest.  Nice pay day on egress window project.  Have fun at the wedding.

Have a beautiful day.  MB

Hola Clubbers!

Beautiful Tribute MB.  Gave me a lump in my throat

Happy Birthday Cindy. Hope you have a fabulous birthday week!
Maple  two week vacation!  I’m jealous and that cenote looks very refreshing right now.

Bosco.. that is  a great picture of you two

Badger. Bwahhahahaha.. that card is hilarious!

Uphill.. a concussion while snorkeling!  at least you have a funny story to tell and what "pills" did she get?

Twirls… Sound like you are a busy little bee and your July 4 party sounds fun.  Hopefully, I can sneak off for a weekend and come visit you sometime this summer.

Weather.  Hot. Very hot. Heat index today is 100.  It is days like these that make me really miss my pool. I mowed the yard yesterday and I was so hot when I finished, I had to come inside for the AC and water, water, water.  It’s a riding mower, and my yard is just a little under ½ acre and there are shade trees.  But it was brutal.  This is the first Memorial Weekend that I can remember being summer-like.  Usually it’s raining and on the chilly side.

Took Mom on the cemetery run this morning. She wanted to get back home before it got too hot, so I picked her up at 8:00… was already in the 80’s by 9:00. Dropped her off around 10:00, did a little flower shopping, but I didn’t buy any… Got home and cleaned the house….

I applied for a job 8 minutes from home.  I haven’t heard back from them but I did some networking, so hopefully that will help.  I have bitter feelings with the company that is sending my position to India, so the sooner I can leave from there the better.

Guess I’ll go find something to do.  Mr JJ is watching Roger Rabbit.  I had forgotten how funny that movie is. Let’s see,  stay inside and watch a movie, or should I try sitting outside with a cold beer???

When my nights start with margaritas, they end with happiness!

All this talk of ribs...We bought Costco ribs for tomorrow's dinner.
Hilarious card Badger.
Dad lost money on the house sale after 10 years. So.....He bought a condo in the same place. Sigh. Nothing close so he will still drive everywhere which is not good. It's a process and he has always been like this so I must just Be patient. How can you love someone so much and yet they drive you crazy?  Oh, wait, that is pretty much characteristic of every good husband too😂

Evening all
My nice planned day turned into a nightmare.  The friends who came were supposed to be a group of 10 and bringing side dishes.  I was doing the meat.  The 10 turned into 4 and 1 dish of broccoli slaw was all that was contributed.
Pearl was the worst she's ever been.  Coupled with my friend who brought his dog , Unannounced.  NEVER SHOW UP WITH A UNANNOUNCED PET.  I KNEW Pearl would be a handful with people around, as she loves attention.  But she calms down.  Unfortunately someone here  was not comfortable

Good Morning
It is still a Monday for me, so laundry is on the agenda.
Twirls, sorry you had a bad day. Hope whatever you're reading is entertaining. I have been reading an engaging little series of Victorian era San Francisco murder mysteries. Can't think of the author's name right now, but very addicting.

JJ, hope you get the new job and easy commute. I hear ya on jobs to India; that is what happened to our younger son. To make the indignity even worse, for a year prior to his losing his job, it turned out he trained his replacement with weekly skype sessions to India. Rat bastards.

Another day of temps in the 90s, then we moderate to 80s. Still hot, but not quite as bad. Got my hanging baskets planted and hung yesterday, and Chris worked on planting some porch pots of lettuce and spinach. Moved the deck table into the shade of the house for more comfortable workspace. got it all done just in time for an afternoon pop up shower.

Remember those lost in service to our country and those who served and are serving.
(and enjoy the day off )
Cindy

Howdy and good morning all.

Look at the radar and you will see the t-storms hitting North & South Carolina right now. Rain and more rain. Ugh. Current temp 73F at 7:52. High is supposed to make it to 79 degrees today.

I woke up around 2AM when the 1st round of storms came up the coast. I also happened to have some pretty sharp pain on my right side : combination of bad gas and 'bad potties'. I was having a fun time trying to go back to sleep. Yikes ! I think I'll hang around the house today.

Got my food shopping done yesterday along with a bunch of beach visitors staying on the island. I bet they knew the forecast was for heavy rains today and needed to stock up on food and snacks so they can stay inside their condos and beach homes. Kids will probably drive their parents crazy today.

Oh, speaking of crazy, my phone land line is out since yesterday morning. Called the cable company and the tech said he would 'make a note of the problem'. Hmmm. No idea when the problem will be solved.  Glad I have my good ole flip phone.

MB, yes, I'm sure Debby enjoys my company but I don't enjoy shopping with her.  I make a list and get the things on my list and get the heck outta there. Deb wants to see EVERYTHING in the store. To answer your question, Debby is getting her new house in order pretty quick. All six ceiling fans are installed and her new Sleep Number bed was delivered and in place. Screened in porch is done. The sod and landscaping bushes/trees look nice and green.  Her two sons and grandchildren will be coming out to stay the end of June sometime. As for me, I am enjoying a little 'alone' time right now. Freddie also seems to have settled down with Debby's cats out of my home.

Hi Crunch. Now I see why you were a bit bummed and not much you can do. Hang in there kiddo.

Holly, Holly, Holly. Always something with you. Perhaps you need some new friends, right ?

Cindy, glad your B-day was good.

Crossing my fingers for you jj. Best of luck your way.

A big thanks to all those who have served our country, both in the past and the present.

Coffee time is done. Trying to limit my coffee consumption to 2 cups these days.
See y'all,
Bernie

Went to the garden center early to beat the holiday crowds. 3 cart fulls and 3 gift cards later we were on our way. Now the real work begins. (Chris asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I said "a nice Mexican gardener") That's terrible, I know, but I sure would like to smuggle one in.

Cindy---Get in line.  There are companies going out of business due to a government policy that is limiting the amount of seasonal visas that are given out.  Saw on the local news that Creve Couer, an effluent city just outside of the city of St. Louis, usually hires a company that uses 35-40 seasonal workers to keep the landscaping looking good in the city parks and along roadways.  This year that company was only able to hire 8 workers with visas. Policy is affecting industries from tourism to farming.  Sad situation.  If you Google "lack of seasonal workers with visas" you'll get a long list of articles on the subject.

A big "THANK YOU" to all of those who have served, especially to those and their families that gave the ultimate sacrifice-their life--so that we can live in the best place on this planet.

Good morning BCers!
Alberto has brought us rain. Will be raining off and on every day until next Saturday.
SC came home last night.  Dropped the grandbirdies.  Retrieved a bottle of wine she had stowed here.
Then went off to see her friends.  she managed to get 4 days off in a row.  Due to another worker
wanting to trade days.   Good!   Much happier than when I saw her last.

Cindy,  Glad you had a nice Bday celebration with family.

Bowing my head in respect to all the brave men and women who have lost their lives
in service to their fellow man.  Soldiers, Police, Fire Fighters and EMTs.  May they rest in peace.
