Bored, bored, bored..... There is a snowshoe hike scheduled for today, but there is also freezing rain ...... I don't like any of the remaining movies available today. I just may don the goretex and go snow shoeing anyways! Thermometer says 40 degrees outside.

Adaptive skiing. I getting a huge lift out of this. They are pairing me up with everyone, just to see where I best fit in. Friday, I was with 2 different kids. One was just so excited, that as he was skiing down the hill, he was waving his hands everywhere and hooting and hollering. How he didn't upset himself skiing.... He insisted we take him over the rollers in the terrain park. I just love this kind of enthusiasm! The other youth, with Cerebral Palsy, simply wanted to ski. They recently found he was able to ski without a tether, on his own. He was doing it, except for one slightly steeper section, only a couple degrees, but it was over his ability. Once he cleared that, he was good to go. I was uphill 20 feet, waving people around our fallen skier, and some people still skied right between me and the other instructors. Another instructor started yelling at them and they swerved around. I guess I need to learn how to be just a little bit on the rude side.... What is really interesting, as I am watching and observing, I am learning, just little  things, but it's all part of the program.

Folks, if you haven't retired yet, and are wondering what you'll do with your time, let me say that I haven't felt so busy in my life. I seem to be doing more different things now than when I was working. It may well be because I have the time to do more things. Life used to be about working to feed the family, then fixing up the car, home repairs, keeping the kids bikes working well, and playing with the kids. Seems I still do all that, but with work off the table, I am able to volunteer and help out  at many places I have always wanted to. It is a full and rewarding life, this retirement thingie.

Have a great day everybody!

Lovin life,
Bob

Howdy and good morning all.

Partly cloudy this morning and all day today with some scattered showers. Current temp is 60F at 8:50 with a high of 68 degrees. Generally, it will be this same weather throughout next week.

Results on Bobbi Jo (corrected spelling) was urinary tract infection. Vet did blood work, gave her an antibiotic shot and an exam. After we got Bobbi Jo home, Deb & I went to my greasy spoon for brunch and then to Walmart. I missed getting my tax paperwork off in the mail; Monday will be fine. Oh, after the Walmart trip, there were some boxes on the porch from Chewy.com. Debby had ordered two cat litter pan mats and a small cat "condo tree" for Freddie. Some assembly required. Freddie seems to like it, as it's sitting at the dinning room window facing the bird feeders.

Today is a little house cleaning. That's about all.

Badger, you big tease you.  Will be nice to see you and Babs again next year.  Maybe we can sneak in a trip this year ?

Uphill, you can't sit still very long, si ?  If you tune into a golf game on TV and then sit in the easy chair, I bet a good nap will follow. hee, hee.

Hoppybrewer, good to see ya. What have you two been doing ? Don't stay away so long.

  That's about it for now.
Catch ya later,
Bernie

good morning campers and lurkers

enjoyed the play and a visit with my college roommate.  Cindy and I managed to sleep in a double bed, it was kind of a miracle.  drove home this morning in the snow, I think we will stay in the rest of the day since it is still snowing.

Enjoy Sunday

Good Sunday morning.  6 and sunny.  Went to early service and then headed straight to car wash.  Wasn't too bad...about a 15 minute wait with 4 cars ahead of me,  Yesterday, I spent the afternoon with Christine and we looked at one house and met her realtor.  Her rating was 5 out of 10 and it wasn't a fit for her.  I was in total agreement. We'll be headed out again on Tuesday to view two more houses in a much higher price bracket with agent and then she was going to check out an open house today, on her own, on Pike Lake.  I'm anxious to hear her feedback on that one.

Hola Badger.  Slight warm-up next week. Yippee

UHK, busy is good.  Volunteer work is very rewarding.  Enjoyed the story with the two kids.

Twirls, be careful with that dang ice.  Nice of you to make up the lasagna for Cammie and Darren.  I'm sure your neighbor appreciates your cooking talents as well.

Chris, glad you enjoyed the play, visit and made it home safely.

Bernie, does Bobbi Jo need to be on special food now?  I'd be interested in knowing if the litter mats are worth it.  Hi to Deb.

PJ, did you make it home safely?

Greeting to everyone else and make it a great day.  MB

Good Afternoon
Kitchen all clean after a late breakfast, I guess that would actually make it brunch, driveway just got plowed, and letting my meal settle before heading out to shovel. Drive home was slow and steady. The normally 45-50 minute drive to tiny Kiel Wi. took us 2 hours to get home. Snow was much heavier than forecast and roads were a mess. Bright and sunshiny now.

The play was a British farce/slapstick. Very funny and very well done. Sort of a play within a play. The character's interactions as they rehearsed/ performed set along side their interactions behind the set. One guy had a scene where he tumbled/rolled down a flight of stairs. I learned at the cast party after the show that he had football player padding on under his clothes. Still, not easy to do 4 days in a row, with another performance tonight.

MB, I'm feeling very guilty about missing church 2 weeks in a row. Chris is at the tax office again on Wednesday (no valentines for me), but since it is also Ash Wednesday I plan on making every effort to go to the 1pm service. Not driving at night because of the cataracts. And then we'll be in Mexico for 2 weeks...before you know it we'll be getting "why aren't you coming to church?" letters.

Best get at the shoveling. With the 7 inches last Sunday, the midweek 4&1/2, and now an additional 3 or 4, the snowmobilers have come out of the wood work. More or less a constant whine in the background from sunup to bar close. Every year there are public service messages about not drinking and operating a snowmobile. And every year all the clubs design their routes from tavern to tavern.  uh, duhhh. Somebody is bound to get hurt.

Have a good rest of your day
Cindy

Good evening BCers!
Made it up home from Memphis around 10:30 this morning.
Thank heaven the temp stayed at 34 degrees so no frozen road during the drive.
Have been doing laundry and chores ever since.
Called about jury duty... yep, there is a trial tomorrow.
Have to be at the courthouse at 8:45 a.m.

MB,  Thelma and Louise are doing great!
Getting very comfortable in their new home with SC.
I was thrilled when they were comfortable enough to eat out of my hand.
Thelma (yellow bird) sat on my shoulder for quite awhile one night during free fly time.

Weather forecasters wrong again which is ok by me.  Talked about 1/2" to 1" of snow over 1/10" of freezing rain. It was a very light mist that you could see freezing as it hit the concrete turning everything white.  Well we might of got 1/1000 of an inch of ice, nothing a little ice melt could not handle.  Dodged another one, just wish it wasn't so darn cold!  They have been doing pretty good on the temps.  Forecasters are now about 0 for 8 on their precipitation outlooks.  Once the precipitation hits our county it seems to go north or south of us or splits leaving us in the middle with nothing. Got to love that

Howdy and good morning all.

Woke up to rain this AM; supposed to do so off and on all day. It's our rainy season. Right now it's 60F at 8:20 and the high at the beach 71 degrees.

I was supposed to take the boat into the shop today but I'm going to wait until Wed of Thursday when it dry out.  Only thing I will do today is get my tax info mailed at the post office.

Paul the brat, what cha doing sneaking off like that ?  Good for you and Babs. You certainly needed the break from subzero temp back home.  Enjoy and thanks for the food porn.

Glad you two got back home safe & sound, Chris & Cindy. Driving in the snow is always tense. Funny about the snowmobiles having trails to/from the bars.

MB, yes, the vet put Bobbi Jo on Hill's Prescription Urinary c/d for 30 days. $23 for only 4 lbs. Whew.

PJ, happy you got home safely as well. SC is fortunate to have you fairly close by. Jury duty !!  Say it's not so !  Good luck with that.

Crunch, if I win the lottery you and Tomas can join me to visit Paul and Babs in PM.  We won't tell them we are coming down there. Surprise !

Coffee time over.  I have a few cat pictures to share. Paul will enjoy them.
See ya,
Bernie

Good Morning
Tried posting at 4:15 and the computer totally locked up. Had to do a shutdown, so went off to get the laundry started.
Yes Bernie, it was a tense drive. Snow was coming down pretty thick, so we kept to the main State roads; the county roads we usually take were not plowed yet at all. I think they were caught by surprise on the intensity of that particular snow storm. Looks like the kitties are beginning to get along with each other.

Good for you, Don Pablo y BeBe. Warm R&R after a grueling week for you. Brat it up when you can!

Was wonderful to be back in our own bed. Haven't shared a double bed since we were first married, and it wasn't very comfortable even then. Amazed we slept at all, but it was late and we were both very tired.

Was 1F when I got up at 4am, now only 2, but the temps should rise gradually this week. Prolly should think about starting to gather things to pack for our upcoming trip. Will be wonderful to get away from the snow.

Time to go fold and start the next load, have a wonderful day
Cindy

Badger, good for you!  I wondered...   HOW I WISH I WAS THERE!

LOL.  the news is reporting some funny critter stuff.  A cow stealing mail from a mail box and running from the owner.  A Golden pup that was TRYING to steal socks!  And a mouse clinging to a Police car windshield looking like it was begging to get inside!   The policeman said he used "de-escalation" technique to talk the mouse down.  HA!  It was ESCALATION!  With the windshield wipers!  Funny stuff!

Glad everyone made it home safely.  We still have ice covered everything.  It should start melting soon with temperatures warming today.  Supposed to be almost 70° by Thursday.  Then back to 35° for the high on Friday!

UPK, WHAT MY MOM SAID...she didn't know how she found time to work before she retired, after she retired.  Good for you and volunteering!

Pearl is like a duck...she wakes up in a new world ever day.  She seems to not remember what she learned yesterday!

LOL Twirley.  Good stories.  We must have the same weather patterns.  Only 32 currently, but supposed to be 78 Thurs or Fri and then back to highs in the 40's.

Bernie - great idea.  We can surprise them this time.  That Saturday dinner looks delicious and so glad to see the cats calming down.  We had to have Tuco on that special hypoallergenic food fro a while and it is really costly.  I feel your pain.

JJ - that is great for your mom.  What a difference compared to last time.  Can't wait to see your finished home.

Cindy - it is so hard to sleep in anything but a king bed once you are used to that.  Hate sleeping in a full with my one and only.  No room!

Glad you are getting away without tons of the bad stuff Frank.  Hope it lasts.

Badger, hope you and Babs have a wonderful time, good on you for getting away from the snow.
MB, hope Christine finds a house she likes soon.
jj, glad to hear your mom is doing so well so soon!
Nice pictures Bernie, I've always been partial to grey cats. Salmon looks yummy.
Hope SoSo is OK, must be busy with moving stuff.

Phone was on the blink this am, no dial tone, my neighbor David fixed it (he used to work for former Pac Bell). Postponed mammogram to next Tuesday, supposed to rain tomorrow (we can use it).
My sister Laurie is taking me shopping for a new sofa the following Tuesday. She told me the insurance company totaled her old Toyota Yaris after her accident a few weeks ago, she used the money for a down payment on a VW Jetta. Probably for the best, the Toyota was pretty old with a lot of miles.

Forgot to mention I am enjoying your stories about the adaptive skiing UHK.

Evening all

I need to go somewhere WARM!  It won't be bad for a couple days but I'd love to have at least 5 days of 85°and SUN!  I'm sure we all would!  I'm looking hard at flights and locations.  Still planning my usual time late April/ early May.

My OLD PEOPLE'S furniture comes tomorrow (the rocker/recliner loveseat with console)!  I pre viewed it today at the store just to make sure that it was good to deliver.  I loved it.  Hope I do when it's in place.

I took lunch to Cammie's shop about 1.  Hung out for a bit.  Her employee made it in after falling yesterday.  He's slow but upright and working!  SHE was ecstatic.
She's VERY BUSY!  I went back by her shop a couple times before and after dinner.  She was still there alone at 8:45.  I helped green a few vases.  She has all orders for tomorrow ready to deliver and will be pushing hard to get all Wednesday orders ready tomorrow so she can concentrate on out the door stuff on Valentine's day.  It's her 4th Valentine's day in her shop.  She is doing a WHOPPING BUSINESS for only 4 years.

Pearl was really good tonight!  Very well behaved and under control and SWEET.  Too bad she won't remember it tomorrow morning.  SIGH...   I'm wearing socks on my wrists and hands.  Cammie suggested it.    I cut slits for fingers in colorful old thick fuzzy socks that cover my hands and wrists. It helps protect me even from unintentional tooth snagging plus it hides the unsightly rips and bruises.

SCREAMING BOAT DRINKS...  I shot 6 holes in my freezer.   I think I got cabin fever......I GOTTA GO SOMEWHERE WARM....where there ain't any snow and....

I shot 6 holes in my freezer

What!?! Was your freezer misbehaving?

Good Morning
We might make it to 30F today. And no snow for the 7-day so far. A good thing, as I'm running out of places to put it. Oh, and I keep meaning to mention that the pet-friendly ice melt salt we got from Petco? It is expensive, but it works great.

Twirley, the mouse on the windshield story gave me a flash back. I once used the wipers to get a spider off my windshield, but when it was still there I realized it was INSIDE the car and dangling from it's thread in front of me. Nearly got in an accident. I do not much like spiders. Particularly when they are that close to being on my person.

Good for Cammie. I do not miss those days. She will need some R&R on Thursday.

JJ, glad your Mom is doing well. 2nd time is usually better, she knew what to expect, and knows the PT is important. Looking forward to seeing pics of your new digs.

I need to go get a coffee refill, everyone have a beautiful day

Badger must be sleeping in the lazy oaf!

I so agree Twirley.  Take me somewhere warm.  I am sick of winter.

Same **** different day as they say.  Dad still won't get hearing aid, and still won't make mom a DNR, and still doesn't hear most of what people say and won't admit it, and I talk to him and hospice and their friends in endless loops of frustrating phone calls.  None of their friends has worked for a billion years and do not understand why I cannot be there every other day, week., all the time.  Sorry to vent.  Just needed to get it out.  I don't need any sympathy and I am not looking for it.  Just BITCHING!!!!

Hope your niece finds her perfect house MB.  Deb too Bernie.

Bob is MIA so he must be skiing.

Glad you are getting much needed rain out there Jamie.

No snow for a week Cindy?  IS that a Feb. record?  Molly will be glad I am sure.  Be nice if you could have a melt off of all that is left.

Last I heard Soso was still searching for her underwear.................

Buenas Dias Amigos, hoy es Martes.

No sleeping in exactly, but I did manage to make it until 5 this morning.

Cindy, I believe Twirls was referencing the Boat Drinks song by Jimmy Buffet.

Weather is wonderful, warm and windy, wish you were all here.

Not much time to post right now, more later.
