mornin,
glad to hear Boat Drinx can be so good for the soul Badger.
C&C great story with the pooch and the mailman , I can just see it, too funny.
PJ , not fun having an empty pantry , DW thinks ours is always stocked.....
she has a vivid imagination.
JJ, glad we only have a hot tub , it would never get warm enough here to have a pool
maybe that one day in July......
Twirly hope the nerves calmed down , just think of the reward at the end of the plane ride.
and the donuts with the cart you'll be doing when you find nipper.
SNF, just how many horses , freezing or not , do you have there ? that's got to be alot
of hard work taking care of them.
so the DWs in Golden and they are forecasting a winter storm , imagine that..
I keep telling her quit making it snow  and stay home.....jeje.
BC name the dog , i'll go with Pepe , although we still haven't stuck with a name for that
cross eyed feline we have........what a goober.....

Morning all

Bad weather moving in way before forecast.  If its storming like beck in the AM, I'll have to wait for a later flight.  Not being a rider of the storm!   I am barely keeping my nerves from jumping out of my skin.  Spending the night in a motel near the airport.

Nipper and Lorri , I'll watch for you coming out of the water.  Don't think I'll ever forget her story about being lost in the dark!

If I get on the plane and the planes make it to Cancun, I should be in Akumal by 2-3 PM.

Hola!

Pretty day here and warmer - finally!

All finished with the morning chores and housework, having some lunch, then out to the garden.  Sent DH to the grocery store - always taking a chance there.  For some reason the pantry list varies greatly from male to female shopper....

Steak and seafood on the grill for dinner later!

Cute puppy Bosco!

jj That sounds like a real mess.  Give 'em  'ell!

Badger   Only usually???

1Run  4 here at the house that the family own.  24 give or take at the #2 barn.  Those are all owned by other people.  I simply work as an assistant trainer these days.  I used to Manage the place.  You are right  - it is a lot of work!  I'm too old and cranky for all that xit - literally - anymore!

Twirls  Deep Breath.....Exhale .....Smile.....You'll be on the beach soon!     Brat!!

Good news is the lawnmower guy is here.  Bad news is the mower is still not running after half an hour.  I told him I would make a run for any parts that are needed.

Why does everything have to have a name?

What happened to my favorite emoticon with the mexican hat?

After a few clunkers, I would never buy another mower that didn't have a Honda Engine.

The naming thing is a power trip: you are who I say you are.

Mower and tiller are serviced and running just fine.  I have surface tilled the west asparagus bed and my knee is barking so I will rest a while before surface tilling the east asparagus bed.  Tomorrow we will topdress the beds with peat and composted manure.  looking forward to munching on asparagus by the end of May.

Interesting/scary thing: on the days when it has warmed up. we kept finding live wasps in our enclosed back porch. Finally discovered the source...a bamboo wind chime that I had brought in for the winter. They were up in the hollow bamboo. I thought I had read some where that only the queens hibernate. Whale, if you are lurking, please "chime in". On one day, we killed 11 wasps.  I hope that this severe winter has reduced the wasp population overall, do not need a repeat of last summer's invasion. Hate wasps.
BOAT DRINX! YAY!
Cindy

Some bees and wasps lay eggs in hollow tubes or holes and supply the baby wasp with a paralyzed insect for food. They will put in an insect, lay and egg on it seal the hole, put another insect in, lay and egg on it, put in another seal and so on usntl the tube is full. The unknown mystery is why the egg in the bottom of the tube which was layed first does not hatch first and eat it's way through all the layers above it thus killing those babies but it doesn't they hatch in order, last in first to hatch. Bringing your wind chimes inside may have accelerated their hatching because they thought it was spring. Once they have all hatched I doubt you will see them again. These insects don't build nests like some social wasps.

I'm sticking with my John Deere with it's Kohler engine. Turns out the reason it wouldn't start was mice had crawled up under the cozy winter tarp and nested and chewed through a wire. Lou said before I cover it up for winter to pour moth balls around on the deck and the smell would keep the mice away. Learn something new everyday.
Whale, thanks for your response. I'm no expert, but these wasps looked just like the ordinary paper/umbrella wasps that were building their nests all over our deck and gazebo last summer. They did not look like the yellow jackets that got in a wall via the range hood vent (Well, BEHIND it where the caulk had shrunk) Whatever, I just want them gone from my living spaces.
Good time at Casa Tequila for the tax offices party. The kid had a good year, all three offices' numbers were up. AND he picked up about 4 new business services clients for year round cash flow, so he's a happy camper.
I'm done yakking now.

Good Morning Yakkers, it's Sunday.

I worked yesterday morning then went to Tim's funeral in the afternoon, not a lot of fun.

Weather looked like it'll be xitty all week with rain/snow mix most days, what happened to spring?

Hola...
very windy day yesterday.  Makes it hard to do things outside.
I did attempt to remove a bush.  I even trimmed it down to the nubs.  I'm just not a digger.  Mr JJ will have to finish the job

We should have heavy storms today. Hope Twirls gets out before they get here or there.

Pool water is getting lighter.   Mr JJ was getting really mad and I just told him, it's only temporary. Nothing chemicals can't fix- as I handed him a beer.

Cindy.  Hope you don't have any more wasps!

"What should we call Bosco now if we can't use his name??"  Well, I've just been calling him DIY.. because he is just that kind of guy..... Bosco, you should've named the frog!

Good Morning Campers and Lurkers
Looks like we got a little rain last night and we have cloudy skies this morning.  We are sposed to get rain Monday and Tuesday.  Does not look like a pleasant day to be out picking up sticks, or top dressing the asparagus beds.
Hit the power ball this morning, too bad there was nothing to go with it, I guess I will still be working for a while.
Enjoy Sunday

PJ---I've been told by our local MFA Coop that Roundup won't always kill the roots of poison ivy.  They recommended "Crossbow".  Cattleman use it to kill woody stuff in their pastures.  I highly recommend it.  Just be sitting down when you see the price.  I think it's about $60 gallon but you dilute it to 4 or 5 ounces to a gallon of water.

$60 gallon is worth it to keep from getting poison ivy... and whatever you do, do NOT poison ivy.  The poison can get inside your mouth, lungs, throat from the smoke.

So I woke up this morning with about 2inches less water in the pool and see we sprung a leak on the pump.  I was totally stressed all morning waiting on the pool store to open at 11.  He told me what he thought it was, we took the top off, texted him a picture and within 30 minutes,  I was back home with the part.  Had to wait for the torrential rain to stop to put the part on and WaLa, worked like a charm. Thankfully, I will be able to sleep tonight.

I saw on FB Twirls made it safely and was heading for her bathing suit and a cocktail.

Pretty picture Kwing.

Good Morning Bush Trimmers, it's Moanday.

JJ, glad you found the problem and thanks for letting us know about Twirls, we will see her briefly next week when we become BRATS!
I think you meant to say "do not BURN poison ivy", nasty stuff. I've only gotten into it once in my life, but once was enough!

Kwing, are you being a brat??

Forecast for this entire week....rain, with highs only in the 40s, luckily I am working on an inside remodeling job.

Wag more....bark less.

Good Morning
Same forecast for SE Wis. WIND. Howling now. And I think from what I saw of the weather map, we'll be in for more rain than the north. Too cold for tornadoes, tho, so I guess that is the silver lining. Stay safe, all y'all to the south. This system is huge and nasty.
Glad to hear Twirls made it safely out of Dodge.
And yes, don't burn it PJ! When I got the skin reaction to cedar, my dr. said the same thing...if we burned it, I should stay far far away cuz the smoke could make me have those poison ivy-like symptoms in my lungs, throat and nose. Everything in the cedar family gives me a poison ivy type rash.
Have a great day, stay safe dry and warm.

Good Morning Campers and Lurkders
It is ugly out.
Only a few more days until the derby party at CC's.
Every time we get wind like this I worry about the big half dead tree in front of the house.  I thought we had a guy lined up to take it down last winter, but it never got done and then it got cold.  I guess I will have to call a tree $ervi$e, hate to do that.
Enjoy Moanday

Happy Stormy Moanday.

I too am allergic to poison ivy. How would you scratch your lungs when they itched though?

Glad the pool was an easy fix JJ.

I have a cold or a sinus infection. Or maybe it is the black mold they just ripped from office wall. Or maybe it might be
the asbestos tile under my carpet. They are trying their hardest to kill me!

Have a great day everyone :)

So, is the dude formerly named Bosco just going to keep yanking our chains or what?
