Afternoon all

Bosco, I certainly wasn't offended in any way.  I was laughing at what you wrote and I know your humor!  We are all in this together which is what binds us together as well as our love of the tropics and warm sunshine on a beach, with a drink in hand!

My cold seems much better.  I went to the Dr today regarding my abdominal problem and he really think it's my gallbladder but we are waiting on the stupid test which is still a week or more out.  Meanwhile we also discussed the boob biopsy and he explained why looking at the calcifications is important.  OK then.  It seems those are spotted often when other tissue is dying or dead.  Hmmm.
I don't want dead boobs although they aren't doing anything for me at this point. LOL.  So next Tuesday for that!

Crunch, it's cold and getting worse here too.  Looks as though everyone but Bernie, Bosco and SoSo will feel it! We are actually supposed to warm up to 63 on Saturday and Sunday but quickly changing Monday.  Monday and Tuesday will be brutal with a low around 10 !!!  and a high around 30 !!!!  Naturally I have to go to the hospital for the biopsy on Tuesday morning!  At least it's a separate building with close up parking.

Finally the pool guy is coming to close the pool.  Chris is trying to keep the leaves out of it until then but with all the neighborhood trees and the wind, it's nearly impossible.

I'm headed into my closet to try to clear out stuff and put other stuff away.  I might as well lay out my suitcase and put the Mexico clothes in it since I'll have so little time later.  I can alway toss it in a rinse cycle before final packing.

You all enjoy the evening.  It's already 4 pm and I haven't accomplished much.

Good evening.  23 and fair skies.  Low of 14 this evening.  Spent most of my morning at Doctor's office.  Follow-up appointment on stomach pain.  The Omeprazole, Prilosec, didn't phase me so she now wants me to take Pantoprazole and follow-up with the Gastroenterology clinic nearby.  My BP was exceptionally high so I need to return to clinic in two weeks for another check with an RN.  Other than that managed to get the carpeting cleaned.  Will clean the tile floors tomorrow.  Hoping to get up to the community center tomorrow morning to register for Silver & Fit, similar to Silver Sneakers.  My plan is to utilize their walking track and other classes which are available to me.

Gem, thinking you are headed home today.  Safe travels to you both.

Holly, I'm glad to hear you are feeling better.  Like you, want to get to the bottom of tummy pain.  Glad you are scheduled for biopsy on Tuesday.  You've got the right idea with some packing. Thanksgiving and your trip will be here in no time at all.

Cindy, hear ya on the late night airport pick up.  Night driving is not for me.  Hopefully Chris is on point for the transport.

Bernie, I gotta say that I've not had an egg salad sandwich on toasted bread with tomato slices.  I vote no.

Badger, actually going to have a brief warm up here tomorrow through Sunday before the Canadian front arrives.

Crunchie, under two weeks now.  Yippee!!  Will you be able to post any pics while there?

Nipper, more pics please.  Beautiful vista on that plateau. What a fabulous place to launch.

Edit:  PJ. the story about Cudi and brother brought a smile to my face.  So very nice of ByB to send you that special WI gift for anniversary.  Sure hope you enjoy.

Sure wish some of you would check in with a quick hello.  Where's Frank, Mapes, SNF, Susy, Claire, JJ and others?   MB

Hola!!!

So many getting them thar old timers ailments. As I doctor at a seminar once told me, they are properly labeled old timers ailments, because they didn't happen to us when we were young. I know it take longer for me to get over muscle soreness than before and heal up from things. Best wishes folks on good healing and medical care!

That new bowling alley looks good. I went there today. Rent a lane for an hour, $30.00. 6 people can get in one frame in an hour. I bowled 7 games, and I'm not feeling anything, but it's not morning yet! LOL! I haven't bowled in several months and only go about once every 3-6 months. I averaged 145 for the 7 games.

I talked to the manager. They have a large open area. Doing the soft opening, to basically get the start up bugs worked out. They are offering things for the rainy ski days, wind holds, campers who are rained out in Summer. A good sized arcade room, pool tables, darts. They are looking to attract a dart league as well as bowling leagues. They should do well, I sure hope so!

I pulled my beets and carrots yesterday. I was disappointed at the beets, golf ball size when I should have a bunch tennis ball sized or larger. only a handful as well. But my carrots were something else. I haven't picked any for 6 weeks, as they are fine in the ground, even over winter. I pulled a bunch the size of large peppers! Still taste good. I like the flavor so much better than what you get in the grocery store. Tomorrow, I may take a hard look in the garden. I dug up some potatoes, which I apparently rototilled into the garden last spring, unaware. I may have some taters out there! I'll feel like I have found gold if there are!LOL!!!

Sadly, this is likely my last garden for three years! I have blight in the soil which is hitting the tomatoes hard, as well as the peppers and pumpkins. I mean, the main reason to have a garden is the tomatoes, isn't it. The only thing I have heard that gets rid of the blight is to let it lay fallow for 3 years, and even then, it is not a guarantee. I don't know, maybe I'll do a small area I was going to turn back into lawn for peas and beans.... I'll figure it out next Spring.

Skiing is opening Saturday and Sunday. On Friday, the 15th, they open up for good. My pass blacks out weekends for me (Huge savings, and I don't ski with crowds). That'll be my "home" opener. Just looking forward to it!

Have a great evening all!

Lovin life,
Bob

Good Morning Dead Boobs, it's Friday.

Twirls, I'm glad you are getting your biopsy done on Tuesday, it'll be good to have that behind you.

Bernie, I've never had tomato on an egg salad sandwich either, but I'll try anything once, I vote yes.

Nipper, thanks for the pix, I was thinking of them when I posted one of the Friday Funnies today.

PJ, Babs is actually walking a little better these days, she says to say "Hi" to you & SJ. Hope we can do PoMo again next year.

MB, it wasn't Babs and I who sent that gift, I'm guessing C&C.

According to the weather guessers we have been about 20 degrees below normal here for the past couple of weeks, a brief warmup tomorrow to 36 and then back to much colder temps.

Boat Drinx tonight.

Good Morning
Not us, either. But obviously someone who has good taste in bacon!
Very cold. Doggies did not want to linger very long outdoors.

Never had an egg salad sandwich? Huh. I haven't in a long time, I'll admit, but then, with my distaste for onion and always suspicious of what restaurants might slip in to their recipe, it is not anything I'd order. I'd make it fairly bland...just the chopped eggs and mayo. Tomato slice would be fine, bacon even better. I always associate egg salad sandwiches with Easter...was the way Mom used up the colored hard boiled eggs.

Main task today will be trying to organize my sons to get everyone together (preferably a restaurant) while Clara and Keith are here, now that he has arrived. They'll be flying back to Maryland together on Sunday.

Hope all of you with tummy and/or boob trouble get answers and relief soon. Glad you have that appointment made, Twirls. Don't fret if it is gall bladder with the tummy issues. Not like the old days when they cut you stem to stern. All done laproscopically, very quick recovery time. Mine was years ago, out of the hospital in 2 days. Now it is probably out patient surgery.

Hi to all, need more coffee...have a great day!

It is outpatient laparoscopic surgery these days and for almost the last decade or more LOL. However, my gallbladder came out 40 years ago and I was cut stem to stern. Glad is it is much easier now! Good look on the boob issue. I had calcifications that showed up many years ago and no big deal. Hope that for you Twirley.

MB - hope they get you fixed up quickly. Any idea why the BP was high? I will probably post some pics on FB and try to copy/paste them here. I don't take my phone to the beach. Especially not this year as "I don't want to know" LOL!

Nice pics Nipper. Good news about Babs Mr. Badger.

I know you are foaming at the bit for ski season Bobski. Looks like it will be a good one for you.

So many people need to check in. Bosco - you always make me laugh. No idea why you would think anybody would be offended.

Brrrr today. warm up over the weekend (only high 60's) and then that same arctic cold front comes to us Monday. Lows in the 20's and highs of maybe 40. Ick!

Hi to all I did not have time to mention. Work beckons.............

Howdy and good morning all.

Woke up to the rain on the windows but storms about done for the day. We have already reached the high for today at 56 degrees at 7:05. Low tonight 36F.  A touch of Winter for the coast.

Yesterday it was a very nice sunny beach stroll with calm winds. There were a few more people enjoying the sun and surf fishing. I did 50 minutes and then went to Fibber's to enjoy the tuna salad sandwich with no tomatoes.

Today I probably will drain the above ground sprinkler valves; easy enough to turn them back on for a little watering if needed. No beach walk today as the winds will be at gale force.

It's OK, MB, when you come out here you don't have to put tomatoes on your egg salad sandwich. I'll give the tomatoes to Badger. Cindy as well, if she wants them. ha,ha,ha.

  Thanks for the pictures, Nipper.

Well Bob, looks like it's bowling for you on the days you can't ski.

Coffee time is done. I'll post yesterday's beach pictures and the tuna salad sandwich pic.
Hope y'all have a great day,
Bernie

Morning all.

Bernie, those old timey sandwiches look good.

My knuckle is getting better, slowly, so I think it is just overuse.

We are starting to have a real problem with bufo toads, or cane toads. They were brought here to eat the bugs in the sugar cane fields and of course they are taking over. They are as big as a salad plate, they eat all the native critters, and exude a poisonous sap when disturbed. If your dog grabs one, it's bad news. I am not one for killing animals but I have gigged two humongous ones lately. They are so big it's not pleasant to hunt them down. Luckily I have only seen them at night.

Nice pic nipper.

Twirls..get r done.

A world of my own
I'll make it my home sweet home...

Good morning BCers
The rain and wind have moved on.  We have blue skies and a temp of 31F.
Yard patrol didn't last long.  Burrr!
Finally did the grocery shopping.  While walking along in my shopping zone, list in hand.
A man laid a big old kiss on me.  It was SJ!  He had come into the store on his way home for half n half.
I might like going grocery shopping if that happened more often.  LOL

Badger, glad Babs is getting around better.  Give her a hug for me.
PoMo in October is still the plan.

Bernie,  I did make egg salad with lettuce on toast for my lunch.  Yum!
Didn't notice the tomato on yours.  Will have to try it next time to see if I like it.

MB, it was my MIL in Chicago who sent the WI bacon gift.

Twirls,  glad you are getting boob job done soon.  Hopefully, gastrologist with find the root of your tummy pain.  Hugs

Bosco,  please post pic of sweet Vino.  It has been awhile.

Crunch,  we be zipper sister.  But by golly we are still here.  Hugs

Wishing everyone a beautiful day!

Morning all

"My knuckle is getting better, slowly, so I think it is just overuse. ""  Bosco, Quit giving everyone the finger!?!  LOL

MB, yesterday when the RN took my BP, it read 89 over 58!  I made her take it again just to make sure I was alive.  116 over 78!  First time she took it through my shirt sleeve.

PJ, nice mystery gift!  I  don't have access to that bacon, so it wasn't me.

Cold but sunny.
I woke up in the night from my back pain.  I had taken an Ibuprofen before bed so I shouldn't have  needed another but I finally had to take one.  I was awake several hours and then slept until 10:30 this morning.  I don't like sleeping that late.

That's about it.

More pictures from France. This is at Funiculaire St Hilaire - a railway up the side of a mountain. There is a community up there and the starting point for para gliders and hang gliders.

After the tunnel, it gets steeper!

at the top. You can see a bit of the rail in the lower middle

 View across the valley

Hello everyone---Not much going on here. Neuropathy still kicking my butt with no signs of getting any better.  Have tried just about every pill and procedure available.  Guess I'll just live with it

Here are some recent pics of my grandson Kayden.  Getting big and smart!  Little under 3 months until his third birthday.  Need to get some recent pics of his little sister Kensley.

Contemplating the day.  Where can I raise some havoc?

I'll give dad some help.  He gave me some pointers.  Guess I'll do the living room next!

Kaydenangelo--Bring on the chapel!  Guess dad wants me to master the value of priming first.  Pretty simple.

The intensity in his eyes amazes me.  Looks like he'll grow up paying attention to detail--Grandpa Frank

Good evening. 30 and partly cloudy.  Beautiful pink sunset in process.

Was a good day.  Got out fairly early and headed to community event center.  Got my card and have full privileges to all services offered free of charge.  Can't wait to start on Monday with my neighbor, Mary Jo. Then headed to TJ Maxx to purchase a new hand bag.  Found this black leather bag made in Italy which I really liked. Beautiful leather and kind of a three-in-one purse.  You can detach the leather strap/handle or adjust it for length (cross body) and the front piece unzips and you can have a small leather clutch.  I was sold on the idea and quality.

Then I came across this one and like the quality of leather, color and also zips totally up like the black bag.  Lots of different compartment on the outside of bag (both sides) and compartments within.

Finally back home around noon for a quick bite.  Got busy and cleaned all the tile floors on all fours.  Got appointment with GI specialist for this coming Monday.  Printed off the three page new patient questionnaire so will get that completed over the weekend.

Happy Friday Kim.  Sure hope you have a calm and relaxing weekend.  Dang...where's your ticker?

Frank, Kayden looks so grown up in that chair pic.  Looks like he is seriously contemplating something.  Perhaps a future presidency.  One never knows.  Sorry to hear your chronic pain continues without relief.  Hugs and prayers.

Twirls, on my post hospital clinic visit my BP was 104/68.  While in the hospital they retook it several times as it was so low.  Keep yourself healthy as you have a lot of fun stuff to look forward to soon.

PJ, now that's my kind of grocery shopping....sounds like your honeymoon did you both a world of good.  So nice of your MIL to send those yummy treats.  Happy news on the house hunting for SC and BF.  How did her interview go?

Bosco, good to hear your knuckle is healing slowly.  Those invasive large toads sound horrid.  No thanks.

Bernie, seems that I have perked some interest in the egg salad on toast con tomato.  JeJe.  Are all of their sandwiches served on toasted bread?

Badger, if next October in PoMo was as good as it was for you and Babs and my stay this fall it will be a win win.  Nice to hear Babs is getting around better.  Sending her my best and watch out for the bears.  I was sipping coffee around 7:30 this morning in kitchen on laptop and I looked up and there was a young buck walking through my yard just a few feet from the kitchen window.  Startled me at first.  By the time I grabbed the phone and took pic it was already across the street.  The rack was about one foot.  Nice way to start the day.

Nipper, fabulous photos.  Today I received maps for Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and Germany.  Also, a 600 page paperback travel book of Europe from AAA, beautifully illustrated.  I've not been to Europe so super pumped to see your photos and narratives.  If all goes well, I shall be in Germany, Austria and Switzerland next September.

I heard today Pablo that I should be hoping that the Badgers lose tomorrow.  I really don't watch a lot of college football, as a rule, but I will have the TV on when Gopher's host Penn State tomorrow at 11.  It's all the buzz.

SoSo, hope Glen made it home safely and parents are doing well.

Jamie, not much talk about the fires.  Presumably under control now.  Are you happy with the results of your eye surgeries?

Bob, hope all is well.  Get those skis waxed.  Any word on the snowblower?  Had a clip on news tonight about the back log on repair running into December before folks will get their machines back.

Have a beautiful evening all.  Sama. MB

MB. thanks, I had good results with my eye surgeries, right eye still a little sensitive to light, but OK otherwise. Can get my re-exam at optometrist and hopefully glasses in 3-4 weeks, yippee.
They gave me that Pantoprozole when they released me from the hospital, works real well, I take 2 x 40mg daily.
Probably should be seeing a GI doctor, but have been to 3 and every single one of them wants to know when or if I have had a colonoscopy. Must teach them that in their freshman year of college.

Twirls, glad you are getting your tummy and boob problems taken care of, now you can enjoy the holidays without that hanging over your head.

Bosco those cane toads look nasty, and poisonous to boot. Glad your hand is better.

C&C, enjoy your visit with Clara and other relatives.

Bob, glad you will be able to start skiing soon, am sure you will be looking forward to it a lot.

Bernie, love your sandwich pics, especially the BLT with plenty of bacon. I'm kind of funny and only like lettuce on a BLT, otherwise it belongs in a salad, IMO.

Badger, I must have missed a post, but what was the problem with Babs? Glad she is better.

Speaking of missing something, I lost a post yesterday, first time it happened to me! Anyway, my question was if anyone had any opinions on or experience with melatonin. I have been having a lot of problems getting to sleep since August, toss and turn for at least 3-4 hours when I turn in. I don't want to take sleeping pills (never have) even if my Dr. would give them to me. Anyway, I need something, since I gave up drinking alcohol a couple of months ago. Any and all suggestions welcome (already taking several strong Tylenol).

Good Morning
MUCH better temps today! 30 right now, going up to 36 later. (same temps that Crunch is complaining about, LOL) Sure feels better than yesterday's arctic weather.

Eldest son could not join us yesterday. Was feeling quite ill, even left his office early in the day, and he is a workaholic. Said there was some vomiting involved, too. I hope he is better, and if not, that he sees a doctor. Getting close to his busy season.

Played a lot of bridge yesterday. Pleasantly surprised I hadn't completely forgotten how. Even made a couple of no-trump hands, and I hate playing no-trump hands.

DIL brought the kids up in the afternoon, Seth, too, as it is parent-teacher conferences so no school for him. In the evening we all met up at Don Ramon's for dinner. Sounds like they will be here today, too...hope other son is better and they can make it, as well.
Love the purses, MB!
Holly, you can order the Nueske's bacon online just like your lobster and crab legs. They will ship directly to you, and all over the country. Got a bit famous when The New Yorker named them the "caviar of bacon" some years back.

Yuck on those toads, Bosco...will they NEVER learn to stop introducing non native species into the US? Asian lady beetles, those horrible jumping carp that are invading the great lakes...now nasty toads. It's bad enough with the accidental introductions like Japanese beetles and zebra mussels to name just a few.

Gotta get moving, hola to all!
Cindy
PS  LOL on the surprise kiss, PJ!

Morning folks, Skiing is open today for those with a weekend pass, or $39.00 to blow on really terrible conditions. Last year, they opened on a Friday, so I went. It was terrible, but I had a smile a mile long! Friday, they open for real, full time. I'll be there. Skis are waxed, ski bag packed, gloves in the pockets of my jacket. I. AM. READY!!!

Nipper and Bernie, loving the pictures, sea and mountain!

PJ, a surprise kiss! Didn't know you were going to market for one of those, eh?

MB, at first, I thought you were showing off your collection of purses, but when I started reading, I figured it out! LOL!

In the month leading up to skiing (Hunting season) there are some trails that are safe to hike on, notably at the ski mountain. Hiking on the Appalachian trail and other high use trails is relatively safe. So many hikers spooking the deer that Hunters don't bother in those areas. But the lesser used trails .... I have gotten some stares from hunters in years passed, no doubt blaming me for spooking their deer. I also have a small workout area in the basement, so I work the leg muscles pretty good for the skiing. I have a TV down there, it's not quite like walking in the woods, but at least I'm not looking at dried paint.

Tonight is a night out in town. The local cinema is showing a ski film, a rep from a local mountain will be speaking and handing out swag. We'll get some eats. Not the same as skiing, but it'll just increase the stoke! Should be fun!

Okay, I'm gonna goof off a bit and then get busy. Have a great day all!

Lovin life,
Bob

Howdy and good morning everyone.

Chilly out this AM :37F at 7:37 with a forecast high of 57 degrees. This coming Tuesday we are supposed to have a low of 27 degrees !!  Yikes, it IS winter.

Yesterday was a fairly mundane day. No beach walk due to high winds and my only destination out of the house was Fibber's. Imagine that. I did get the sprinkler valves and backflow preventer all drained.

May do a beach walk today but will have to wear jeans and a flannel shirt plus a warm jacket.
Might also stop at Ocean Isle Fishing Center while still on the island. They usually start to clear out their t-shirts around this time frame. I could use a few more.

Bosco, good to hear some improvement on your knuckle.  I had to google pictures of those cane toads. Yikes !

Nipper, pretty pictures. Does the engine on that train use a type of "cog wheel" to go up and down the steep incline ?

MB, you are such a rebel with the discussion of those sandwiches. hee,hee Yes, that is the only way they are served and actually offered as a sub for the wraps.

Thanks for the nice pictures, Frank. Those boys have really grown.

Cindy, you brought fond memories to my mind when you mentioned playing Bridge. I used to play that game in the 70's with my 1st wife and a few different couples who's names are long forgotten. I was never that good at Bridge but used to be pretty good at a 1st cousin to Bridge named Bid Whist. You ever played that card game ?

Jamie, if you have a pot shop close by, I would suggest you visit one and get their input on items that will make you sleepy. There are varieties of weed for 'sleepy time' as well as some edibles that may help. Send Holly a note to ask her about various vape pens. Oh, by the way, what would a BLT be without the lettuce ? hee,hee

SoSo, what, no chips allowed ?  Hush up girl !  Chips complement those sandwiches to a 'T'

Bob, have fun dreaming about another ski season.

  Hi crunch. Hi PJ.

Time to scoot,
Bernie
