Good evening.  80 and sunny.  What a beautiful day.  Up early and saw the last of the full moon which was so beautiful.   Church at 8:30 and Christine picked me up and we met my bro and his wife for brunch.  It was a really good time for all.  Christine saw my recent updates and we had a chance to catch up.  Watched the end of Packer/Viking game and then on to the end of KC game.

Badger, way to go Pack and your team too Holly.

Bernie, good thing you checked on the Lillie Mae and got those poles adjusted properly.  The duck shoes were JBU, Just Be You, by Jambu & Co.  I paid $20 on TJ Maxx site.  Best buy I've made recently for mowing a wet lawn.

Cindy, heat is on here.  80 today and 85 the next couple of days.  I am loving it.  Last blast of summer.

Twirls, thanks for the conversation this evening.  The eggs Benedict was great but not enough Hollandaise, sauce and not nearly as good as mine.   Just saying and certainly not bragging.  I'm not a great

Pretty quiet here.  Beautiful sunset here and time to eat my ensalada.  Be well, MB

Good Morning Football Fans, it's Moanday.

I couldn't get away from work yesterday so I listened to the Packers/Vikings game on the radio, it sounded like there were some questionable calls, but a win is a win.

Lots to get done today at work, so, off I go.

Wag more....bark less.

Good Morning
Was a treat to just sit and watch the game yesterday. Great first half, rather sloppy 2nd, but like Paul said, a win is a win. Twirls, I'm curious, did they run the insurance commercial with Rogers and Mahomes down there? Cute, but Mahomes didn't get to speak. Maybe next time.

Deck is wet and there is thick fog out there, not sure if it rained a bit, or the fog made the deck wet. Either way, sure can feel the humidity. Haven't checked weather yet, but doesn't really matter as it is moanday and that means laundry. Hope the sun shows up by the time I'm done, and I can get back outside.

Since the page has flipped, if I try to go back and refresh my memory of everyone's posts, I'll lose this one, but know that I read it all and hope you all have a wonderful day!
Cindy

Howdy and good morning all.

Will be a nice sunny day here on the coast. Current temp 74F at 7:13 with a warm high of 87 degrees.

Yesterday I went to the beach for a little walk; only did 40 minutes. There were some huge waves rolling in and a few folks surfing them. I didn't bother bringing the boat home; not a good day for pictures.

Today I have jury duty at the County Courthouse. Have to show up at 1 o'clock.

Thank you for the info on the duck shoes MB.

Badger, Hi Ho Hi Ho. Don't push yourself too hard.

  Hi Cindy.

Thanks to all from me today.
See y'all.

Happy Moanday ALl!

I hope you have a good week Badger and cooperative weather.

Fun football to watch yesterday. Cowboy game was fun after the 1st quarter. I thought Minnesota was going to catch up to GB for a minute. Saints - yikes. At least the part I saw.

Have a great day all.

Good morning BCers!
Up before the sun for a change.  Went to bed at 9:30 last night.
Beautiful and cool outside.  Enjoyed my walkabout the yard with lil doggie.
Going to be a cooker again this afternoon.  A high temp of 97F.  Hottest Tennessee September in my memory bank.
Had a great weekend with SC and her pets.  Lots of laughs.
Finished the wash yesterday.  Need to work on the dreaded ironing today.
Also, need to decide which of the fancy dresses I ordered online are keepers and which are being sent back.
Loved them all....but don't have much need for 6 semi-formal dresses.  For sure I am keeping the fluttery tiered dress.
That dress is pure fun.  LOL

MB,  Your wall decore looks great!  Love your antique dry sink.
We have one similar but the back piece where you would hang towel is missing.
My mother and sister made an antique-looking washbowl and pitcher to place on it.

Time to get going.  Need to drag the hose and watering can.  Try to keep plants alive in this heat.
Have a great day all!  Hugs

Morning all

Games were great yesterday.  I think the Raiders surprised KC with their ability in the 1st qtr but KC got their game on.  Mahomes fascinates me with his ability to hit his receivers in the chest, shoulders and arms so accurately.  Of course we have some great receivers too and many other players as well.

Cindy, there are a LOT of Mahomes commercials running here.  Nationwide is the insurance commercial I recall.

Another summer day here.  A high of 95 anticipated.  Possibly a record.  Humidity has been lower, Thankfully.  I managed to get another coat of paint on the display cabinet.  I did it early because I have to be able to open the windows for ventilation and the humidity has to be down.  A bit more touch up and 1 coat on the exterior cabinet and it will be done.

We had a good dinner of smoked pork steak, baked sweet potatoes and fresh green beans.  Yummy.  The air was filled with BBQ smells in the neighborhood with everyone taking advantage of the weather and football games.  I love that smell.

We have started watering the lawn since it's been so dry.  The birds and squirrels had a party in the sprinkler.  I've been watching them play in the birdbath this morning.  Pretty entertaining.

Still no decreases in any Delta flights.  They are pretty reasonable on flights using miles and I'm short of miles.  I should have enough soon for a February trip.  October is out unless a cheap paid flight pops up.  I did rationalize that IF I paid for the NOT cheap full price for October, I would then have enough miles for the February trip.  However I am trying to watch my spending and the market is a roller coaster right now.
I'm still pondering a trip to Charleston and possibly include Savannah.  Maybe next spring.  Fall is too iffy for Hurricanes but cheaper than Spring.

I've been amazed at the difference in Tigger's whole demeanor since having him shaved.  He has quit hiding.  He's very social and stays mostly where we are.  He wants a lot attention and petting but is content to just hang out.  I was afraid it would be just the opposite, like the only time I had a dog shaved.  Poor Edna was mortified and hid under the deck for a week.  I guess Tigger will get shaved every summer!  Sure has cut down on the shedding hair in here by a noticeable difference.

I have nothing on my schedule until Thursday this week.  HMMM, what to do?

Rant warning!!  Just lost my xit on neurologist office.
Most of you know that my husband, SJ lost the use of his right hand on August 2nd.
He had an appointment on Aug. 30th with a neurologist.  That appointment was canceled by the doctor's office.
Moved to September 19th.  I just got a snotty arse phone call from the neurologist office.
Saying that the doctor stated there will be no grace period for any patient who is even one minute late for their appointment.
Wayne has an appointment for 8:15 a.m. if he is even one minute late.  His appointment will be canceled.
At that point, I interrupted with a Whoa! Whoa!  Your office canceled his last appointment.  He has been waiting three
extra weeks to be seen.  Walking around with no use of his right hand.  We are concerned that this delay in being seen by the
neurologist may lead to permanent nerve damage.
Lady then states you need to understand we are down two doctors.  Doctor Blah Blah told me to call everyone and
tell them that if they are even one minute late there will no grace period.
(rolling my eyes at this point...I'm sure doctor didn't mean take a snappy attitude)
I followed with... Ok, I'll tell my husband what you have said.  But you tell Doctor Blah Blah that I said to lighten up!!
Then hung up.  (Really wanted to say F off)  Someone needs to rewrite the script for the lady who is calling all the patients.
Would have been better if the doctor just owned up that he is down two doctors in the office and asked nicely that
every patient arrives on time.  Or he may not be able to see them.  Not call with a snotty attitude.
I've called Wayne and told him what was said.  He laughed his butt off.
Also told him if this neurologist is even the least bit squirrelly.  Leave!  We will go to Nashville or Memphis to see a neurologist.  WTH!!

Good evening.  85 and sunny. High of 87.  First time we have hit 80+ since August 20th.  I'm soaking it up totally and no complaining.  Headed over to Toyota for 9 a.m. service appointment.  Hung out there and car was done in about an hour.  Got in and the air was on maximum cold and the knob to set the AC temp was not working.  Drove right back into the service isle.  They gave me a new Camry for my inconvenience and about an hour later the tech texted me that they could not duplicate the earlier problem.  Back again around noon.  What a PITA.

Had to make other arrangements with another Blue Cross friend to go to funeral tomorrow for my friend Judy's late husband.  Something came up with another friend but I'm just glad to not go alone.  Other than that I didn't accomplish a whole lot.  Watered in the new sod early and just finished watering the outdoor flowers.

PJ, glad you are keeping that one dress you posted on FB.  So cute.  Did you model them for your daughter?  Glad you had a fun time together.

Cindy and Pablo, that was a tough game to watch.  I caught the second half after my brunch.  Lots of missed opportunities.  I'm always on the fence when we play the Pack.  I think Aaron is an amazing quarterback. The best team clearly won.

Bernie, nice beach pics.  Keep up that walking.

Crunchie, hope you have a smooth work week and that both Tomas and you are improving.  Think about you often.  Glad you booked your flights.  I don't like that way and see game.  I've never done two different one-way flights.  Perhaps worth checking into.

BeachBilly, any sign of returning kittens?

Twirls, sounds like a good football day was had.  Your food sure sounded yummy.  My neighborhood was similar.  Lots of people grilling and you could hear people cheering or just enjoying their Sunday football.

Hoping some of the lurkers will check in.  The BC is awfully quiet.  Have a great evening all.  MB

Good Morning
Humidity levels still at saturation, but at least today will be a more comfortable 75. Yesterday's mid 80s had me moving slow, don't know what was going on, but just felt achy all over. Today, so far, so good.

PJ, I do not know HOW you managed to NOT use the F word! Clearly that woman needs to go to some phone etiquette class. I guess we are blessed here. In all the years since 1985 when we moved here, I've only ever had one time that someone ****ed me off royally, and that was our actual primary care doctor. Never went back, switched to a different PC the next day. Funny thing was, his nurse, who I liked very much, switched to our new Dr. shortly after, too. And as far as making appointments and getting in timely, all the phone people have always been pleasant and helpful. Down side is health care is extremely expensive here compared to national averages, but once again feel blessed we have good insurance. Did I tell about the hospitalist? When Chris was in the hospital back in January, there was a guy whose only job was to stop in each patient's room on his floor, once each day. 5 minutes each visit. Any questions? Any concerns? Done. EACH of those 5 minutes, over 5 days, was billed at $800!  Also, I don't believe I've ever had to wait much more than 5 minutes when going to an appointment. They actually have a sign at the receptionist's desk to let them know if you've waited more than 5 minutes.

Twirls, food sounds wonderful! And the commercial that Mahomes was in with Rogers was for State Farm.

MB, glad you found someone to go to the funeral with you. Just not something one wants to do alone.
Bernie, 40 minutes sounds good to me! I wish I could do that, but my left foot is deteriorating so much, I think I may be shopping for a cane pretty soon.

Have a wonderful day, all!
Cindy

What is the issue for your foot Cindy? Anything to do for it? I am sure you will rock a cane, but it seems like you will get frustrated with it when you are doing all that land maintenance. That hospitalist cost. Yikes.

MB - I am so glad you have someone to go with you. Hard to go to a funeral like that alone.

PJ - yep, did that the wrong way for sure. Training issue. It is really hard to get into a neurologist or almost any specialist around here too. The wait for an appt. is ridiculous. I fear it will only get worse.

Yeah, that is not too far away from us, about an hour. Apparently, someone smelled gas evacuated the building and the firefighters were turning off the gas when..... I'm not sure all the events that led up to this, but I think, generally, they first shut off the gas outside, then ventilate the building. I can't help but wonder if someone turned on a light switch or something....

From what I hear, this building was recently renovated and was set up quite nice. Worked with developmentally disabled folks. Flags across the state are ordered to half mast for a couple days in memory of the dead fire fighter.

Just a note about gas lines, but when I built my home, the HVAC company, licensed gas line installers, did not do a pressure test on their work and refused when I asked them, saying something along the lines of we know how to put in gas lines. They also said that the LP company does the pressure tests when they install the gas tanks. (Passing the buck to someone else to check your own work...). Sure enough, I ask the propane company to do a pressure test. They say that whoever installed the gas line was supposed to do their own pressure test. I don't remember how, but I got the LP company to do a pressure test, and sure enough, there is a leak. I call the HVAC company to repair their work, and they have someone nearby who comes over and repairs the work. I'm thinking that maybe, just maybe, the gas codes should be a little more stringent about requiring pressure tests on gas lines???? I'm glad I insisted.

On to more positive things now. Yesterday, I harvested a good many crops from my garden. Squash, peppers, tomatoes, onions and pod peas. I neighbor is taking chemo for pancreatic cancer, and gardens. His garden is not so much this year, so we put together a bag of crops for him. As we are driving up the road, here he comes waling his dog down the road. We chat a bit, then deliver the bag to his house so he doesn't have to carry it all the way.

We also put together a couple other bags for friends. And we'll deliver more to other friends tomorrow. We can't possibly eat all this before they spoil. I'll likely pick just as much today and tomorrow as things ripen up. I love gardening and have reduced the amount of plants and still, I get an overabundance. Fortunately, I have a bunch of friends who are happy for garden fresh crops!

Lovin life,
Bob

Howdy and good morning everyone.

Will be a beautiful sunny day on the coast today and hot. 89 degrees for the high. I will be in a cool court room today and unable to see the beach. Current temp 72F at 7:29

Most of yesterday was spent sitting in a chair. Over an hour in the Jury Room waiting to go into the Court Room and then waiting for the actual jury selection of 12 people to be completed. It was not finished and we were all dismissed at 5 o'clock. This case will take at least the rest of this week and maybe into next week. I have to be back at 9:30 this morning. The case is a child molestation one that involves a school age child and some of the witness' are from an elementary school; we haven't been told very much yet. Thus far I am not one of the 12 in the 'jury box'. There are about 100+ folks packed into the court room that are part of the jury pool, listening to all of the questions and proceedings during the jury selection. Only two have been dismissed thus far and two pulled from the pool. It's a bit like "jury roulette", as the selection process is supposed to be random. The gal sitting next to me seems to be very nervous about being picked. I don't really care. I already have lined up Doug to feed Freddie her afternoon meal. Just have to call him to keep him informed. Doug doesn't work any longer and is on disability.

Today I am sure that the jury selection process will be completed. I'll let y'all know if I have good luck.

Need to get moving as the County Seat complex is about 20 miles away.
Happy day to everyone,
Bernie

Morning all
LOL.  I assume that last post was Chris?  Has she had reason to kick you lately?
Cindy, I hope you some care for your foot to help it heal.  Meanwhile, do what you can but try to elevate it some.

PJ, I don't blame you one bit and I would report her to the patient care person or whatever they call them.  It must be something about the neurology dept.  I got the same treatment when I came down with RA.  I got sidelined twice and the nurse got a ****ty attitude with me.  I did report her however it didn't make it easier to get an appointment.  It actually made it worse.  It turned out I didn't need to see a neurologist anyway.  Get him in somewhere, even if you have to travel farther.  A 2nd opinion is always good!

Bob, I was going to ask the same about that explosion.  Very sad that it killed the Fireman responder.
Good on you for passing your bounty to others.

MB, I don't envy you about the funeral.  Glad you have a friend to go with.  I limit myself to the visitations.  I can't do the services anymore.  I've hit my bearable limit.

I'm going to try to get out and do a few errands before it gets too hot today.

You lurkers better start checking in.  If us few quit posting, you won't have anything left to read on LG.  We can only carry this so far...

Good morning BCers!
Three weeks of no rain.  Another day of temps in mid-90s.
Going to Jackson this evening to see the Willie Nelson and Alison Krauss concert at the ballpark.
Temps should cool down nicely by the time the concert starts.

Crunch,  Yep, seeing many signs that specialists are leaving our area.  Small rural community hospitals shutting down.

Found these pictures of the explosion.

Here is the building, almost move in ready:

And here it is after:

I don't know about you, but I just can not fathom the sheer destructive force that can do that. You can see the fire trucks and how they are located within the blast radius. The 6 injured firefighters are basically dealing with burns. Hopefully, their fire captain maintained a position of when out on a call, you wear your helmet, jacket, pants and boots.

Our Fire Chief maintains that, while a neighboring town does not. We had a legal agreement with them about sharing coverage for our two towns (Our town is 1300 people, the neighboring town is even less, share coverage is a fiscal consideration). The other Fire Chief, recently resigned under curious conditions, did not require his men to be in uniform of fire gear when on call. Our agreement was dissolved.

As much as I might complain about codes and procedures, they are in place for a reason. The investigation into this whole episode will prove interesting.

That, obviously, was Chris. I do not kick his butt, it is too high. Shins are tempting sometimes, though. The issues are multiple. When I was a kid, I sprained my left ankle many times, probably in the neighborhood of 12 different times. Most likely, I adjusted the way I walk to favor it a little. Then just a couple of years ago, I sprained it again, and managed to get a small fracture in the bargain. Podiatrist says my arch is falling. On top of that, there is degenerative arthritis throughout the foot. I do have orthotics, which I will use more in the winter months, but in the meantime I developed a bit of toenail fungus. Podiatrist told me to let it be open to the air as much as possible, so have been wearing sandals most of the time. Good, supportive sandals, but can't use the orthotics...and I'd like to have toenails that can be painted for our next tropical trip...   There you have it. Oddly, most of the pain seems to be the top of the foot.
