ORIGINAL: Sunburned Gringo

1. name or LG board name
2. place you live ie: state/territory/country
3. number of visits to Akumal/Riviera Maya and when you are going back
4. favorite area activity
5. favorite vacation drink

1. Flat Stanley Cup....aka FSC
2. Chicago, IL USA
3. Once.  Just got back from my first trip. I'll be doing a trip report. Going back? Hopefully next summer.
4. Getting folded up and sent around the globe.  Gets lonely in the envelope though.  Dark too.
5. White out.  I seem to get spilled on often.  And some drinks they pour in me are just gross.

I think I like this place called Mexico.  The humidity does wonders for my parchment.

Had fun for sure. So Hola to Loco Gringo's everywhere.

Please pass the white out, I spilled.

1. Lisa (& Greg)
2. Victoria TX
3. I think around 15.
4. Favorite area activity; diving Akumal with the Original Dive Shop in the morning, chilling out on the beach with friends and family, taking a drive to 'the original Xpu Ha restaurant' and drinking all of their cold beverages while enjoying wonderful food. It is always a guess whether the thatched hut by the highway will still be there(we found it by looking for the old Cristal drink sign). SO FAR they have survived progress, the main change being that they have electricity now.

The old sign was blown down after hurricane Wanda but I spied it over by a palm tree and the ladies gave it to me. I had fun getting it through airport security as a gate checked item but now have the XpuHa sign with the Cristal drink logo proudly in my back yard. Don't get me wrong; I promise it is the ONLY Mayan artifact I have ever taken back to the states!
5. Myers Rum Punch.

This is my first visit and post here. I'm looking for info on flying to Cancun and taking bus down the Mayan Riviera. We are familiar with Cozumel, ferry, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Chitzen itza. My wife and I are considering not making reservations on where to stay. Learn here on what to expect as far as accommodations and getting off and on the bus, bus schedules. We'd like to be on the beach, AC, clean, and private bath room. Doesn't need to be fancy but comfortable. Oh, we're looking at doing this in March but even flexible with that depending on festivals. So this is my introduction and I'm off to see what this site has to offer. We're in KC and she likes to snorkel and I dive. Thanks and Howdy,

I saw a grass hut, nice, no AC, fan and on the beach at Azulik bungalows in Tulum and for the dates we'd like would be 330.00 per night. Seems on the expensive side but it is on the beach and looks comfortable. February or March probably would be comfortable without AC at night. Are there places similar to this but stretch our dollar further?

Utah
We have been to the Riviera Maya 4 times, with our 5th trip planned for next week!
First trip we stayed at Xph-Ha Palace, second year Bahia Principe Akumal, third year Akumal Beach Resort (we were there for Wilma), fourth year ABR again (had to go back without the hurricane), and next week, Barcelo Maya Beach (if Paula doesn't get to nasty [&:]).
We could spend our entire time in the water! We love snorkeling!!

Well I can see that I completely screwed up the flow with my intro. Didn't pay attention the first time around to the format, so, here goes my re-intro

1. Tim and Teri/ teria
2. Salem, Utah
3. First timers to Akumal as of Sept 23, 2010/second time to Riviera Maya and we will be back next summer, hoping for July 2011
4. Snorkeling, Laying flat on my back on a lounge chair on the beautiful Akumal beach, laying flat on my stomach having a massage at ABR (best ever), watching baby turtles take their first dip in the Carribean
5. For me it's a pina colada, for Tim its a Conga (both no alcohol, we don't drink)

Have been to Akumal 3 times, with most recent in summer of 2009.  For the first time will be trying this favorite-place-on-the-planet for Christmas holiday.  Taking 19 year old son, and in another room my mom and step-dad (in their 70's but very active).  Is anybody else here going for that time period?  WE are staying at HAC from 20th to 28th and so looking forward to being able to miss the holiday stuff here, not to mention getting to be in AKUMAL again.
Just a little worried that the weather or water won't be hot like we are accustomed to down there.

We are celebrating our 10th anniversary with our 16yr old son & 8 yr old daughter. Staying at GBP Coba Dec 16-22 then in the Yoga Retreat bungalow in the jungle the following week. I`m so excited to take my family as they haven`t been to the Carribean side of Mexico. Searching for tips, ideas, restaurants and any info I can find to make it an amazing, unforgetable time. April was torrential rain and really kind of miserable.
I`d love to meet new friends there! [:D]
