Geez, I have been posting like a madwoman and haven't even introduced myself! tsk tsk

My name is actually Patt; Pond is my long time online alter-ego.
I live in Winterpeg, with my hubby and a furball dog named Chase.
We have been going to Cuba for the last 6 years, and I decided finally that there was nothing left for me to explore in Varadero, so I went shopping for a new destination. The Mayan seemed to have what I wanted: gorgeous beach, turquoise water, opportunity to snorkel and friendly people.
I am stupidly excited about our fast approaching trip to the area, and can already see that it will not be our/my last! There is no way I will be able to cram in all that I want to see and do in only two weeks.
Once I get beered out.. anything else is possible; fruity drinks, wine or tequila shots!
I love this forum.. very informational and tons of fun...[sm=kopete008.png]

Dios Bo'otik Riviera Maya.. heaven is a camera in my hand and a snorkel in my mouth..

Many visits to Playa Del Carmen, Akumal, and Tulum. Never have I ever had the desire to stay in Cancun...and never will!
Akumal is my favorite, Casa Cenote and the little bar across the street....name forgotten...but the guy is from Texas and has been there for years who owns it, La Buena Vida Bar...
Return to Catalonia Maroma Playa June 11th!! It's been a while and I can't wait.
Love the Ice Cold Sol and Pacifico, fresh pico and guac...the diet of choice while in paradise!
Snorkeling, meeting new people, and just exploring what the Yucatan has to offer is what I like best!

Hi All! I've been a fan of LocoGringo since the very first time I found you on the Internet last year. Finally joining up!

I now live outside of NYC, but we have a house in Puebla.
I've visited the Riviera Maya twice. Once six years ago and again last December.

Hi everyone - I wonder if there's anyone that goes back as far as my DH and I do with this area of Mexico? We've been going down to Q. Roo for the past 27 years starting with Cancun in 1983 (there were only seven resorts/hotels,hostels, etc in total back then) when it was in it's infancy, then spreading out to Cozumel and southward as well as other parts of the Yucatan peninsula (Merida, Palanque, Villahermosa, Progresso, etc) . We just got back from the Catalonia a few days ago. Do we have a favorite place? As long as I'm in this part of Mexico, I'm happy and that's all I know.

I originally came to these forums because we remembered an old wooden sign on the way down to Tulum on the southbound side of Rte 307 pointing to a dirt road on the other side of the road stating that "The Most Beautiful Beach in the World" was there. And it was, too. There was a beautiful beach, a nice little restaurant that served great Mexican food, palm and coconut trees ... the works for a great day at the beach. We loved it and went back half dozen times. Since we hadn't been down that ay in quite some time, we couldn't find it on this past recent trip.

We're just back from Xpu-Ha the other day (where I really think it must be), and we still cannot find it's exact location. We can't find any locals to ask who are old enough to remember. I know it's a long time ago, and that sign and the beach must have been blown around by several hurricanes since we saw it last, but if anybody remembers, please reply. I'd very much love to know where it was.

Karen, just back from the Catalonia Resort
