I'm all too familiar with The Oatmeal [:D][:D] my hubby loves his bizarre, quirky humor and illustrations! So Dung, that news article was about his family?

He's obviously not for everyone. But then neither am I.

Edd would know better than me Greenga. I assumed it was. I just thought it was one of those crazy family memories. A life experience that only a family could relate to. I don't have much of a family but I can imagine.

In a way, it reminds me of Family Vacation with Chevy Chase.

LOL...That's what I tell myself every day! Think of yourself as an acquired taste Dung! That's what I do and it seems to work, at least for me anyways! [:D][;)]

Though I didn't see the connection between the original post and the story of the house burning down, I really liked the house burning story with the "broken" cat being the survivor. Maybe cause we burned down our house and the aloof, schitzy cat survived - and became a closer, more cuddly cat after. Plus it made me laugh.

No, the cat had no part in the house burning. Hoyt fans might know this: "the cat was cool and he never said a mumbling word." He was just happy to see us when there was no where else left to go[:D]

Me too! Have "Live Machine" on vinyl, still drag it out now and then.

This story comes to mind in the light of the Lance Armstrong downfall. It also works for anyone that has ever made a mistake. I think of it often. [8|]

Donkey in the Well

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.

Finally he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway, it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They each grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement, he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer looked down the well, and was astonished at what he saw. As every shovel of dirt hit his back, the donkey did something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed, as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off.

Moral: Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up!
