Either. They have some tables but we usually take it back to the condo.

Go to the top of the hill, then turn right, go to the next block, turn left and go down the hill till you see it on the right side. White with blue trim that says Loncheria Naty Akumal on the front.

The little white place next door to Naty's in the photo is also a small three meals a day family run , restaurant El taco Maya . Very economical as well as Naty's . Naty's also has beautiful ribs cooked on that same charcoal if that appeals to you . We got the whole take out package including tortillas , maybe they were just out of stock BlueBeachLady . Turn left at the white building to get back to Main street .

Thanks for the directions... I did a mental/ visual of the directions, so now I will know where to go. I'm going to explor the pueblo this trip, I think.

So in September? Maybe last March... We were walking around Tulum Pueblo, looking for a place to eat. KRBNBob kept going on and on about some chicken place he wanted to try. So I ask him, "what's the name?" He tells me he doesn't remember, "but it's a chicken place." Well, that is not helpful, so we end up with pizza. So recenlty, I am reading on the boards about this place everyone recommends, and I say, "hey, everyone is saying we have to go to Broncos chicken." He gets all irritated and says, "that's the place I tried to get you to go to, but you didn't want to go." I said, "um babe, NO, you couldn't remember the name of the place, so how could we go there?" K-Bob.... "oh."

Now we have two chicken places to try next week!

It doesn't sound like they are breaded, but can anyone confirm that? Not even dusted with flour... I'd hate to get it, and find out I couldn't eat it.

    It is, what it is.

They are not breaded but the achiote powder they put on them may have flour in it. I'll bet if you contacted them the day before or early in the morning and asked them they would cook you a special one any way you want. Shouldn't be a big deal. Might help to take a translator with you if you don't speak Spanish or get someone at your lodging to write you a note in Spanish telling them you want one that contains no wheat or flour.

I think Broncos chicken is in Tulum pueblo, not Akumal.

We have achiote paste here, and even the ones we have found down there have corn flour. I have a card that explains about my wheat allergy, but I am pretty good at thoe spanish words.

Yeah, I know it's in Tulum, you must read, the way I read... skim over it and half pick up the words that stick out [;)] I can't tell you how many times I read a post a second time, and got something totally different from it, haha.

According to The Painted Fish cookbook real Mayan achiote doesn't have any flour in it. It is a combination of ground annatto seeds and other spices. It is diluted with citrus juice and used as a marinade.
The other three recipes for achiote rubs, Recado Rojo, Recado Negro and Ricado Para Escabeche have no flour in them. They do contain different combos of garlic, clove, oregano, salt & pepper and cinnamon along with small amounts of oil.
I guess it depends on whether you can find any authentic achiote and I'd bet you can.[:)]

Flour doesn't grill very well. Think about it.

No breading....have tried several places, never seen breaded...that is if they are places locals eat. Some of the michoacan style place's marinate is sweeter... we were told it was pineapple juice.

Ya, maybe! Cause we also got some strange rice-a-roni type pasta along with the rice and the ever popular watery black bean substance with the slaw. Never had that combo before!

Easy to find the tortilla place - head west (further from the 307) to the next street, turn left (heading to the main road).  At the corner of the main road, turn left agaiin, 2nd place on your left.  I  think it had a sign Tortilleria when I was there last but on Google Maps, I see no sign (just an election banner - maybe it was covering it up [&:]).  I remember paying 7 pesos for 500 grams back in January.

    Last in Mexico Mar 12 to 19, 2019 [19th trip to MEX, 15x to RM (1998 to 2019), 9x to HMB (2006 to 2016)]

Just finished my 1st Naty's lunch of this trip. [8D]

    A few things of interest:

    - price was 100 pesos (I think the same as last year ??) and included tortillas
    - the outside of the restaurant has been painted - no longer blue but a reddy-brown color
    - the road that it's on has been totally re-done.  It is smooth and paved now.  (used to fear bottoming out the car on that road before)
    - the tortilla place mentioned says "Rocio and Jenifer" above it.   The 1/2 kilo is now 8 pesos.
    - the chicken was as good as ever!!!    [:D][:)][;)]

    Last in Mexico Mar 12 to 19, 2019 [19th trip to MEX, 15x to RM (1998 to 2019), 9x to HMB (2006 to 2016)]

Why is the takeout cheaper than the dine-in?
