What a wonderful report! So sorry to see it end.

SIMP, yes you can run a tab at the Lol-Ha, when you check in, ask them to set it up, they will take a credit card imprint and in return give you a plastic card like a credit card (in the past this used to be a piece of heavy paper) and when you check out, they will have a copy of all your receipts to look over before you sign for any bar or restaurant charges. It is very convenient. You also get your beach towels at check-in so be sure to ask.

What an AWESOME trip report...one of the best!  Thank you.  I saw some of my food favorites in there and they are looking good.

Your room is cute; and with the kitty at the door, quite perfect.

I'll be re-reading your report.  That's how good it is.

Thanks again!!

always felt that way too... but I've read of people finding scorpions and nasty spiders on the third floor. I think snakes can climb walls too. Just stay armed and alert I guess! :)

Lol Jane you're freaking me out! I'm REALLY snake phobic. Say it ain't so!!! [sm=kopete018.png] [:'(] [:@] [:@]

LOL I know I know! Let's just say G will be going into the room ahead of me at ALL times [8D] and no sleeping with the windows open [sm=kopete019.png][sm=kopete019.png][sm=kopete019.png]

Sorry 9KC! SD had me so creeped out I forgot to say thank you for the great TR and photos. I thoroughly enjoyed them.

Bad bad SD :)

Oh, I requested second floor. Can you guarantee it'll be a snake free zone? Ha Ha!

Thanks for sharing your report, I really enjoyed it, full of pics like I love!
I remember well Rudy from Lol-Ha, when I was there in July I met him during a breakfast with SS47 and his DW, I was wearing Hekab-Be shirt because I was going there, he asked me about the shirt and told me his son Juanito was in the library, I went there, search for Juanito and chat a little with him (a very nice and good little boy), I took a pic with him and when I went back I show it to Rudy and he was almost crying! Sorry for the hi-jack but I wanted to let you know this nice story about him, he is a very kind and nice man!
Thanks again for the pics, I love them all!

Well...you'll be relieved to know that there were NO BUGS anywhere in the room or on the floor. (well, there was one pesky mosquito that hung out around the shower, but I got him one day.

There is no shelf in the shower, but I put some small bottles on the window ledge. The larger ones I just left on the floor in the shower. It's pretty good sized.

We bought the coffee refills complete at Super Chomak. $24 pesos I believe. Whatever we didn't use up, we brought home with us (meaning sugar, creamer).

The Foot Basin is before the path that goes to the front door, but you could get sand on your feet still. I found the best way to get the sand off was to wipe my feet on the grass outside the side balcony and then step onto the patio and right into the front door.

The A/C is adjustable, but Jim likes it cold.

Plenty of space in the room to leave your luggage out if you want to. Two short tables - one I kept all our hats, bathing suits, and suncreen on. I didn't really check to see if the over the door shoe holder would work there. We usually take one on our cruises too. Plenty of room on the top shelf of the closet though.

The drawers were not musty at all, but since I packed my undies and bra's in Ziplocs, I just left them in those in the drawers.

The maid does a thorough cleaning daily!

When we checked in they asked us if we wanted to run a tab for Lol Ha, but we brought the cash to pay, so just paid as we went. Maybe next time will set up the charge.

We changed our beach towels daily at the lobby, which is the only thing I found inconvenient. I would have liked them closer to the room. We found that on the way to breakfast or Super Chomak we would take the dirty beach towels with us and exchange then.

We could not hear our neighbors at all. I was really impressed with how quiet the rooms were. Maybe the A/C muffled it a bit. (not that is was noisy or anything).

I would definately stay in this room again!

That was so fun to read! Too bad I did it right before lunch. Now I'm dying for enchiladas. [:D]

BTW I saw your '9KC' inscription in the sand at the web cam!

Yay...somebody saw it! I actually came home and went to the webcam link that is a time lapse for the whole day and tried to find us on it, but as much as we were around it, I don't see us. I scrolled through each day slowly, but the people on this link are so small compared to the regular webcam pictures. I thought maybe the link had the wrong dates or something, then I found my 9KC in the sand on the 10th and 14th towards the beginning of the day! [:D]

Good to know there were no bugs! I emailed LG and they said the hotel is full for the first week in Nov., so we can't switch to a first floor room anyway. I did email the hotel directly and asked them to please keep us in mind in case there is a cancellation!

As for the shower - does anyone else have this problem when there's just a stand-up shower w/no tub? Where do you prop your leg when you want to shave? [:D] Do you just hop around on one leg, or what? In Jamaica we had this kind of shower and I just turned a plastic trash can upside down and put my foot up on it when I was shaving, that worked.... but every day the maid would take it out of the shower and put it back where it should go! [:@] I'll have to see what's available here...

The coffee refills, $24 pesos for how many? And it makes 4 cups? Good coffee? (I do like/need my coffee!)

I never thought to bring my "unmentionables" in big ziplocs, I'll definitely be doing that, thanks!

You said you exchanged the beach towels at the lobby, where is the lobby? On the map, is that where it says "offices"? And - anyone know what hours we can exchange towels? We're up pretty early, I can tell already we're going to have to make some arrangements for lounge chairs -

http://www.hotelakumalcaribe.com/akumal/maps/hotel.asp

Sheesh - I'm a total planner, can you tell? I probably should have started my own post, rather than hijack your trip report! But, at least this way the info is all in one place!

Well, I use Nair, so cannot help with the leg shaving question, sorry.

As far as the towels, yes they are in the lobby, but being a bit lazy, I just hung my towels out on the patio to dry but used the pool more than the beach so they did not get dirty and sandy. If you use the beach a lot, then you might want to exchange the towels. They had a lot of loungers by the pool (last time I stayed here a couple of years ago there were not so many and people kept dragging them over to the beach which ticked me off!) as well as some nice pool furniture. For loungers under the beach palapas just go see the chair guy and he will set them up for you.

Haha - Jamies can be girls or guys, much to my 9yo son's chagrin.... His name is Jamie, also, and he hates it that it's one of those ambidextrous (can't think of the word) names. Just yesterday at the truck dealership the manager introduced himself, and our son said "I'm Jamie" and the manager said "I have a sister named Jamie". [:@]

I've already figured out the Jamie on here is a girl!

I sat on the shower floor. You really can't adjust the shower head, so I just turned off the water while I shaved my legs and then turned it back on to rinse. There is actually a wooden step stool in the closet, but it's so you can reach the safe if you need it as it's on a high shelf.

The coffee refills, $24 pesos for how many? And it makes 4 cups? Good coffee? (I do like/need my coffee!)

It was only enough for two cups and Jim said too weak, but I thought it was good.

You said you exchanged the beach towels at the lobby, where is the lobby? On the map, is that where it says "offices"? And - anyone know what hours we can exchange towels? We're up pretty early, I can tell already we're going to have to make some arrangements for lounge chairs -

It's probably a good 2-3 minute walk to the offices to get the towels. We would take them late at night and exchange so we would have them ready in the morning. The lounge chairs we usually had to hunt down the chair guy. He hung out by Lol Ha since there is a spot there for hotel guests to use also. Just watch for the guys wearing STAFF shirts or ask the security guy walking the area to call one for you.http://www.hotelakumalcaribe.com/akumal/maps/hotel.asp

I'm sure there are plenty of planners out there that will appreciate your questions. I am one of them that likes to know those kind of things before I go anywhere. [:D]

Okay - so I'm asking this question for my husband. His very most favorite thing to do on vacation in MX is heading out to the beach about 6am (when he basically has it all to himself for the most part) and hanging out on a lounger, playing guitar. At the A/I's he usually has a good hour or two before people start to show up en masse.... But is he going to have a lounger to sit on? It's my understanding that they're taken in every night - do they take in the ones around the pool as well? He could drag one of those down there, then bring it back up when we go to breakfast around 9am when the chair guy comes on duty, would that be allowed? And - it's hard to play guitar on a chair with arms, do the pool loungers have arms?

A lot of questions to keep my hubby happy, I know... but if he isn't happy, then I'll hear about it, and I want to be able to enjoy myself! [;)] If I figure this out before we go I can "forewarn" him!

As for the coffee - I like mine STRONG, so I guess I'll have to figure out a way to make my own!

No loungers on the beach...all are taken in and I think the ones by the pool remain there....you hubby can go sit on the life guard stand early in the a.m....sun up...that is what I do if I just want to hang out on my own......

Coffee.....you get the little pot and some coffee packets, we go to the Chomack and by filters and additional coffee if we want it strong like we make it at home...just be care not to overflow the pot...[:D]

Arms on the loungers...don't think so, have him take one of the chairs off of the patio......

Sorry, but it's an electric guitar - you can't hear it at all, and that's what he prefers. He plays for himself, not for other people. [&o]

Thanks for the tip on sitting at the life guard stand, shifty. I'll let him know!

There is a very simple solution on how to shave your legs in the shower.. You just have your partner sit on the floor and bring their knees up to there chest. You then use their knees as your foot rest. Problem solved.

9KC  I really am a quiet person. People either come up to me an talk or they avoid me. I guess it has something to do with the hats.[&o] People have come up to me wanting to buy some of the hats or outright ask for the one I have on.

Well...there you have a point. He'd be sharing his hats with all the many LGRs online. That would be a great thing to see every morning on the webcam! Yep...you gotta go!!
