Hola all you locos! I finally have some time to report, mostly with pictures, on my recent trip to the Roo (April 16 to April 30)!! WOW!! What a “culture shock” for me (for those of you who don’t know, I hadn’t been there since January 2000)!! Anyway – here goes!!!! The view from Villa Las Brisas our first morning there – looks wonderful even through the screen!! Looking through the palms at La Buena Vida. The fair in Playa del Carmen – aren’t the little whale and palm tree cute? The beautiful ocean from Casa Cenote! Flamencos at Lol Ha. I love the colorful schools in México! This one is in Playa del Carmen. Egg delivery in Tulúm - they sure know how to stack ‘em!! Delivering fruit in Tulúm. Check out the bananas and pineapples on the top! The traffic in Playa del Carmen. I could hardly believe there are now four stoplights!! Had to go to Easyway to pay for the car for another week. I love to see this beautiful flag waving in Cancún! Street musicians in Cancún. From the hill in Akumal Pueblo looking across 307 to the beach side. Pollos asados in Akumal Pueblo. The first is on the right (Hafet y Hamed), just as you are coming to the top of the hill. The second is a couple of doors past the first. If any of you have a chance, go get one - they are muy delicioso!! Another looking across 307. My wake up call for a week – oh how I miss these birds (they were probably waking up some of the folks at Bahía Príncipe also)!! The marching band from the school across from the zócalo (square) in Valladolid. These youngsters were really very good and so happy to see me taking their picture!! The beautiful cathedral on the zócalo in Valladolid. Mayan niña in Valladolid taking care of the baby while Mamá tries to make a living. Isn’t she a beauty?? A beautiful old church a few blocks from the zócalo in Valladolid. Altar dedicated in Valladolid, September 1983, to “los niños heroes de Chapultepec, September 13, 1847.” A “funny car” in Valladolid. La niña seems to be cautiously checking it out! The Virgin of Guadalupe appears everywhere in México; on dashboards and calendars, on playing cards, on lampshades and cigar boxes - even tattooed upon the very skins of Mexicans. The “Queen of México,” as she is also called even has shrines to her at people’s houses all over México, as shown in the following photo taken in Valladolid!! “Policía” in Cobá – looks like the cat was in charge of things here! Beautiful bugambilia in Cobá – I love these things and my dream is to live in a place where they will survive (definitely NOT Missouri)!! The cute little kiddie rides at San Francisco in Tulúm. The beach at Oasis Akumal – still one of my favorites!! Arturo, me, and LocoGringos the tattooed angel, and Gem!! Oh, how I miss my chips and salsa!!! Hey Debi, how are you and the “angel?” One of my favorite sights in Tulúm – they were actually a trio, but the girl was off the cycle before I could get all in the pic!!! My last meal at Don Cafeto!! This is what I love – beef tacos – mmmm!!! For 20 pesos (2US) you can have your car washed while grocery shopping (taken at San Francisco in Tulúm). By the way, the VW was rented from Easyway and extended for another week with no problems!! The lovely Manatee Cenote (across from Casa Cenote). I must add that now it is very crowded at times compared to the way it was in 1998 (or even 2000)!! I was in the habit of going here to cool off on the days when the electricity was off (no air conditioning) and almost never saw another person there!! Now???? This cute little guy might be there to “greet” you at Aktun Chen. I took this pic because I am totally fascinated with the “catrinas” – this is an addition to La Buena Vida since I was there in 2000!! If you are interested in jewelry or hats, please give this guy a break. He and his partner are just trying to make a living and were never “pushy” and very easy to make a “deal” with (I got my hat from them, at a very good price)!!! You will see them mostly on the beach around La Buena Vida!! Last, but not least, looking down through those beautiful palms from the “tree house” at La Buena Vida. Hope you enjoyed the pics; they are some of my favorites!

Very nice pics. Can't wait. We are going for the first time on May 18, 07 and now I kinda know what to expect. I'm sure the beach views (in person) will still take my breath away. xelgoer
