I have been watching the travel channel the past 3 months since we booked our trip. There has not been one show on Riviera Maya,Cancun, PDC, Akumal, Tulum. etc nothing. Can someone tell them where Mexico is?

I did see a nice piece on E! that was called "Wild on the Mayan Riviera". It was mostly concerned with wet t-shirt contests.

Steelerman, I gotta go with Craig on this one. Although I'd love to see programs on the Roo, I don't want it to get too popular.

Steelerman - WE DON'T WANT TV PROGRAMS ABOUT THE ROO ON TV!!!!! Go to the library or buy some of the wonderful travel books that we were talking about on an earlier thread.

Got my DK Top Ten travel book yesterday. I'm glad to see it doesn't say too much about Akumal. I think it's still a secret! Makes me want to go explore some of the other Yucatan towns: Merida, Valladolid, Campeche. Maybe next year we'll take 2 weeks instead of one.

I hear ya guys. Kind of wierd they don't even talk about Cancun though. It's always about Canada,Switzerland etc. They did a thing last week about the top ten beaches and Tulum was number 4. Actually the library doesn't really have that much. I've been trying to show my wife how beautiful it is out there through pics on webshots.com. Soon she will know the real thing!!

Wouldn't it be nice if that was all.... can anyone explain why poker has taken over the travel channel? I like poker, but come on...

Probably certain country's tourist boards are greasing the palms of certain network executives. I guess Mexico doesn't feel that need, thank goodness!

There was a show on the Travel Channel in the winter of the Top 10 Mexican Beaches and it featured lots of the RM. Also on Mexicos best beach resorts.

If they do a report on the RM, maybe they'll just talk about the hurricanes, tarantulas, large cockroaches, snakes, killer iguanas, sharks, jellyfish, sea lice, mosquitoes, corruption, crocodiles, and not being able to flush your toilet paper (that alone should keep some people away!) Oh, and I hope they report on the wild tribe of LocoGringos lurking in the jungle, wearing the ceremonial headdresses, waiting to ambush unsuspecting tourists.

Well, I dared, and now I'm sorry for it! I'll be itching and searching the walls and ceilings for the rest of the day! There is now a very good possibility that I won't be sleeping during this trip unless it is 100% alcohol induced!

Always remember that when you're in a jungle environment, "ALWAYS" bang the heels of your shoes on the floor to ensure there are no "Uninvited guests" prior to putting them on, also don't reach into places if you can't see what's in there...

Actually, in all of the times we've been down there, I've only seen one tarantula, and it was outside of our room--not in it. But don't tell the Travel Channel. And if the Quit Your Bitching Tour is published, some of us will be in it--that'll scare people away!

The white bunnies are deadly, aren't they? At least that's what will be reported on the Travel Channel.
