Hi, I am looking for anyone living in or near Felipe Carrillo Puerto. You know, someone who can give me the inside scoop. We will be moving to Felipe Carrillo Puerto on or before June 1. We have found a house to rent and an apartment next door to rent. The plan is to fix up the house to our liking and then convert the apartment into a taqueria. When we are up and running, we will let you know. Just looking to meet new neighbors or someone informed enough to add to what I have learned so far. Any help will be appreciated. Life is an adventure...is it not?

Whitney, thanks for your encouragement and hope to see you some day. It doesn't matter to me if the taqueria is up and running or not...stop in. We will be moving in June 1, and unless you stop when I am back in Michigan for a week or two, I will be happy to invite you in for a looksee...and taco if we are open. lol Whatever, do stop by. We are one block south of Domino's and turn right for three blocks. House on the corner #662. Okay Howie...that's not fair.

Absolutemente! We are going to feel our way along. We truly expect that our market will be locals...if we are lucky enough to have ANY customers. lol But I kinda want to know what the gringos would be looking for if they stopped by. So, right now I haven't begun to pack...am going to California to see my new granddaughter on the 24th...but intend to start packing the day I get back home to Cozumel. Antelmo tells me that here in Cozumel you pay for your permit to run a restaurant depending upon how many hours you are open. More hours...more cost. We don't know how it works in FCP. We will find out though. lol At first he would kinda like to stay open sun up to sun down to see when his customers come in and what they want. Then we will go from there. We're just kinda stumbling blindly right now but it will smooth out with posted hours. I would kinda like him to have two consecutive days off like we do in the states. But it will depend on the clientele. If he has two days a week off, we can still do some traveling around the Yucatan. I am expecting that FCP might not have the same high season and low season we are accustomed to on Cozumel. Depends on how many people in town actually work in tourism related jobs. These are things we just don't know. But I am sooooo looking forward to stepping out of the ratrace that thousands of cruisers create when they descend upon this little island. It's like living in a resort town back home. Let's hear it for the sleepy Mexican town!!! Viva Felipe Carrillo Puerto!!!

Me pierden cuando usted habla español!! mi falta practica! I can barely speak, let alone write. We like the restaurant called, I think 24/7 or 24 houra? You get a huge quantity of food, but I'm telling you, you can't get a good shrimp taco between Lucy's in Akumal--and Casa del Mar in Mahahual. I would love a good battered, deep fried and awesome shrimp taco for the drive...or tacos al pastor! Unless I have missed something, the last place you can get those is Playa Del Carmen. Good for you and congrats on the new grandbaby!

Wow!! Felipe Carillo Puerto has some amazing history. And, also, FCP himself was a remarkable figure. And now there was just an article inEl Universal that FCP's lover's diary was just found in Mexico City. But I digress: how does one find your taqueria once one arrives at the Pemex in the middle of FCP? I have some research to do there in June. Will you be open then??

David...We are planning to move June 1. Therefore, the fixing up of the house will be priority one. Once that is done, then we can think about the taqueria. Since I am heading to Michigan in late July, I would like him to hold off opening the taqueria until I am back and able to help. Don't know if I will be persuasive enough on that. But for sure we are looking at some time in July...hopefully August before we open the doors. However, that doesn't mean you can't stop by to say hi and check out where we are. Sooooo, from the Pemex, keep going south on hwy. 307. There is a Pemex north of town and then the one you made reference to in the middle of town. As you head out of town, heading south, you will see the ISSTE supermarket on your righthand side. Keep going. Then you will see a Domino's on your right hand side...go one more block and turn right. We are three blocks in and on the corner. At our intersection there are no other houses on the corner. The house is currently turquoise. That will change. But if you come in early June it is likely to still be turquoise. Letty's Novedades is in the middle of our block right next door. Easy to find. Stop in and say hi.
