We've flown Champion out of Denver a couple of times, and yes, it's a sardine flight. I'm not a tall person and I felt quite snug, but I'm not sure the non charters are any better. I just figure I can put up with 3 or 4 hours of not comfortable for the two weeks of paradise.

We flew to Cancun from Denver on Champion once....definately not a luxurey flight. My son and wife have used Champion out of Denver several times and have decided not to use the "bucket of bolts" any more. So - take the Valium for sure!

It's funny you mention Champion. Check my trip log...http://www.locogringo.com/forums/tm.asp?m=482993. I flew out'a Denver and the crew was pretty rude. Make sure you bring snacks and pillows if needed. Have fun once you get to sunny Mexico.

See if USA 3000 flys out of your area.

We've flown Champion and USA3000 out of Detroit. USA3000 was a nicer flight but both airlines had cramped seating if you are 6'5" and 240lbs. (my DH) Champion has no movie and no music - really bare bones but we found the air crew very nice. As long as the flight times and prices are comparable go for USA3000. If not, stay with Champion. No matter which airline, its only a little over 3 hours!

Champion is a bit cheaper than USA3000, plus USA3000 is sold out for the days we want to go. So, i guess at 6 2, 240lbs, im going to have a wonderful four hours. What time does the bar at metro open? I figure a martini and a valium and ill be okay.

We also flew Champion out of Denver and we also noticed that the crew was pretty rude. Had a couple of questions for them and they kinda bit our heads off when answering ... kinda like we were wasting their time.

But other then that the Champion flight was fine with us. I liked that it left Denver at 7 am cuz that put us in Mexico early so we could enjoy the sand sun and water! Altho I do wish it departed later then it did so we could have had another 1/2 day in Mexico!

Sorry about the BUCKET OF BOLTS remark - that is my son's opinion and he and his wife are the more seasoned flyers. I just wanted to make sure you took enough Valium!! Ha !Before 2000 my husband and I had never flown on a vacation and never any great distance.....my son decided to get married in Cancun which forced us to fly to Mexico for our very first time. (that was our Champion flight) Since then we have gone back 2 more times and this Feb, at ABR will make it 3 times flying to Mexico - we fly Frontier. So I will tell you once you step foot in Mexico you will forget your flight with Champion - and with the Valium, you will forget the whole day. Oh! one piece of advice....don't mix the booz with the Valium....they might not allow you to board!

I say STOCK UP ON THE VALIUM!!!!

We are also doing Champion Air on our upcoming trip in April. It was through Apple so we didn't have much of a choice. We have flown them a few times before.

Last October, I was very queasy after boarding the plane for the return flight. It was extremely hot out and no air was moving on the plane. My wonderful husband explained the situation and asked the stewardess if I could have some water. Absolutely not. She said I would have to wait for the drink cart once we were safely at flying altitude. At that point, I stopped worrying about throwing up. Hoped I could maybe get her shoes when she walked by. Problem resolved when husband got up, went to front of plane and asked another stewardess. She gave him water and I was fine.

Just have your martini, take your valium, and before you know it - you will be in paradise!

I found the staff of Champion very nice and accomodating..
I guess it is me..I get on the plane and thank them for taking me to paradise and when we land, I thank them for the ride...I figure it is best to ingratiate myself to those whose help I may need later !!

Well, thanks everyone for their input and this is what i was able to find out...

I will be flying an uncomfortable sardine can made of a bucket of bolts.
Drink martinis and eat valium like tic tacs.

IM SO EXCITED.

I can deal with 4 hours of misery for a week of paradise.

Thanks everyone.

I wish I could help you -
but I always take Valium and a drink so I do not remember a thing about the flights.

Sometimes I take Valium and/or Xanax and a drink.
My family does not know how I manage to walk off the plane(seeing I never take those kinds of pills on a regular basis)
but I think that I am so excited about being on the ground in Mexico that I fight
all my drugs off.

ENJOY!!

Yuk, yuk, yuk - I hate Champion Air. I am not the most "svelte" person, and the seats in front are so close that I could barely get my tray table down past my stomach (I know I need to go on a diet, but the airline doesn't have to remind me). Out of Denver, Apple Vacations now uses Champion. We were told by our TA that MLT (WorryFree) was having trouble filling all their seats on the Champion charters, so they made a deal with Apple to share them. Service is generally good, but the 4-hour flight from Denver to Cancun is extremely uncomfortable for anyone bigger than about a size 2.

I've haven't checked their website recently.

But as of a couple weeks ago, Worryfree had $99 round trips from Denver. You can't get to LA for $99 out of Denver. Maybe on Southwest on a good day.

For $99, I would put up with a lot of rude service. I can buy lots of Montejos once I get there so I don't remember it & with the money I save, I could get a massage for my sore legs and back.

Hi TATT: I definately will try to be at the party. By checking out all the pictures on the forum I am thinking we may not be in the same age group though.....getting a little long in the tooth here - my 5th grandchild is due to arrive the end of April!! Regardless, the whole week is going to be a great time for sure!
