Has anyone flown from DFW via Funjets Charter Ryan Airlines? What was the experience? Are we going to be packed in like sardines?

We fly alot with funjet.. Last year we flew on a Ryan Plane.. It was a good flight. Not as much leg room as I would have liked. The flights are usually full. The only uncrowded flight we ever took was on Sun Country. It was a huge jet, with 5 seats in the center Aisle. There was enough space for everyone to lay down and take a nap. That was in the 2nd week on December..a slow time. I am sure it was a full crowd the following 2 weeks.

Have flown on a Ryan Plane and it was nice, but as another one said, yes it is cramped. I am a smaller person and thought it was cramped. My husband who is 6'2" was glad our flight was only 4 hours. But a pleasant experience however.

We flew Ryan two years ago, and flew Allegiant this year. I think the charter airlines cram as many seats into the plane as possible, thus the cramped legroom. I am 6 ft. 1, and was very uncomfortable on the flight this year. I would hate to be taller, my knees were already into the back of the seat in front of me.

We have flown Ryan Air several times. No major problems - just typical cramped charters and an occasional delay.

We flew Frontier last June and were thrilled with the difference. We actually found prices real similar finding deals from Frontier and booking land only through LocoGringo or others. Sometimes those FunJet or Aplle prices are hard to beat though...

We fly from St. Louis on Champion and Ryan charters through either Funjet or MLTvactions all the time. Yes they are smaller, but I always get there early to be one of the first in line...then nicely ask the agent for either bulkhead or emergency row seating...I almost always get them, and the flights are great..

Just flew FunJet for our trip Oct. 7-14th, out of Houston, not DFW, but it was great. On time, good crew. I'm a small person, but it did seem like tight leg room on this particular plane, which was a Transmeridian jet. FYI: you have to buy your meal for $5 if you want one, otherwise they hand out pretzels and free soda, or water.

After using Funjet from Salt Lake City to Cancun for years for its convenience---direct flight, no stops, favorable departure times, etc.---we started to see changes. "Odd" departure times, like 4:00 pm outgoing, no accomodation for other than 7 day stay without steep price increase, etc. Then we had a series of disasters---like mechanical problems with plane and no spare plane making a 4-hour trip into a 14 hour trip, late departures---and so we decided our vacation time is too valuable to spend putting up with such questionable service on a "cattle-car" type flight. We use regular scheduled airlines now.

Have used Champion Air through MLT Vacations several times - yes, there's not a lot of room but there have been flights that weren't crowded and we could spread out. Other trips, every seat has been taken - but if there's a big enough savings compared to other airlines, then it's worth it. The flight times are sometimes inconvenient - 3am check-in for 6am departure if you want seats together for a group since there's no reserved seating. The advantage is that you get in early and still have a full day to enjoy ! One thing to be aware of - charter flight times are subject to change, and if the charter flight times do change and you have a connecting flight that wasn't booked through MLT, you are on your own to re-schedule and pay any additional fees. Some times of the year, charter flights through Funjet or MLT are the only direct flights to Cancun available as NWA's schedule is seasonal from Detroit. Sometimes it's a trade-off between price and convenience - sometimes we're lucky and it works out both ways !
