After much 'playing around' with this 'insert foto thing' I think I am
finally able to post this message! It is for all of you old ‘Gringos’ and
your memories and for all of you new ‘Gringos’ who are curious about
the ‘view’ of certain places you have read about on this message board!!
Some of these fotos are mine, but most are from other people!
Hope you enjoy!!

Cata

Could be your view of the Yucatán jungle before landing in Cancún:

One view of the Cancún airport:

Could be your view on Hiway 307 on the way to Playa del Carmen, from Cancún:

raccoon (foto taken by me June 4, 1998):

Hope you enjoyed the fotos - now some of you first timers have a better idea
what things might look like!!

PS - If you enjoy these and would like more go to Yucatán Fotos Número Dos to see pics taken in April 2005!

Cata- Zorro loves this post! Gotta pin it to the top for a bit. The newbies need to see the magic...

Loved the photos!!!! We will be returning to Akumal in 16 days, they can't go by fast enough. Pollos Asados, in Tulum, when was your picture taken? We, or I should say, my husband posted a picture, same place, Chop Chop Chicken, as he calls it. Ours was taken in Oct. 2003. Just curious? We will be spending a weekend in Valladolid and going to Ek Balam(spelling?) The beach at the Tulum ruins is just breath taking no matter how many times you see it. Seeing the Arch in Akumal, you know, you are home again

Catalina,
Great photos. Thanks for posting them. They really capture the feeling of being there. I really liked the view of the Tulum ruins from a boat. First time I have ever seen the ruins and the beach from that point of view.

How long did you live in Chemuyil?

Hi Mark in STL! That was a neat foto wasn't it? I got it from some people from Canada! I lived in Chemuyil for nine months in 1998, went back to visit in Jan. 2000, and due to circumstances beyond my control, have not been back since! I am working on changing that - I think it is way past time!!

Three months and counting down. Pizzaria Leo's here we come. This time I will not park under that tree out front.

These pictures are great! The last time I was in Puerto Morales was during a Fiesta de Guadaloupe parade. That was the bomb.

Great photos! We're not going until spring, but it sure is great to hold me over.
One question about those liquor prices in the Wal-mart photo. Please tell me those prices were in pesos and not US dollars!!!!

We,ll be heading down to Tulum in 6 weeks. Loved your pics, you seem very knowledgeable about the general area. We,ve done all the typical tours etc on previous visits and I was wondering if you have any ideas about places to visit and activities not to be missed? Or something off the beaten track?

thanks
Sarah

13 more days. Thanks for the great pictures. What is it about this place that brings out the passion in all of us? Is it the only place that we really feel alive? Sorry, maybe its getting late and I'm getting too mushy.

Que hermoso! Thanks Cata. You've captured some of the great 'vibe' of familiar places we locogringos have come to love.
