Howdy. I'm staying at Dolce Vita with wife and child for four days (after 4 days in a villa way south of Tulum) in January. Anybody have any recommendations for Soliman Bay as far as restaurants go? I heard the seaweed was bad at Dolce Vita after booking there. We've been all over Tulum's beaches and the ruins (Coba, Ch.Itza, Tulum). The main purpose is RELAXATION.
Also, never been to the biosphere. Is it worth seeing with a 1 1/2 year old or should I stick to building sand castles with the family?
GringoKid ---- I'm not familiar with Dolce Vita; however, I stayed at Nah Uxibal in Soliman Bay last month. Although, there was some seagrass near the shore, I didn't find it to be a deal-breaker or even a problem.
Other than Oscar y Lalo's, there isn't a restaurant in Soliman Bay. And from what I hear, OyL's won't reopen for some time. Your best bet is Tulum or Akumal. "Chop chop chicken" in Tulum rocks --- as does Zamas. In Akumal, I'd recommend Turtle Bay Bakery or La Cueva del Pescador. Lol Ha is good too.
As for RELAXATION --- you can't help but relax once you hit the beach in Soliman Bay ---- particularly with a beer or margarita. It's quiet and somewhat secluded.
I can speak to the biosphere question because I've never been.
Thanks for the Akumal recommendations. I'm totally a Tulum guy (January will be my 6th time in the last 7 years!), and I'm even luckier that my wife likes the rusticness of it all too. (Last May our 1 yr old slept like a rock in her pack'n'play with a mosquito net over the top). We'd just like to check out Akumal or someother places to see what's around the area (hence the Soliman Bay/Dolce Vita stay). Gracias
Just returned yesterday from a 10 day stay at Dolce Vita on Soliman Bay. Oscar y Lalo is the only restaurant on the bay and it is open - we ate there three nights. Dolce Vita is is perfect shape. Their guys keeps the place spotless. The beach is soft white sand and is raked every morning. The pool is 4 1/2 foot deep and had a shallow 1 1/2 foot section walled off for small children.
