OMG is all I can say about this fabulous resort. We have never done an all inclusive resort before. Not sure why, probably thought that the food was inferior and would we get our monies worth?..yada...yada. Well I am here to tell you that this resort is wonderful in all respects. We were greeted at the reception desk with a couple of mimosas while Daniel explained where our villa would be. He explained the layout and where the buffets were. We collected our keys to the room along with a locking mechanism for the room safe and were told that we could step over to the public relations desks to make our dinner reservations at the restaurants of our choice. They have a book of menus so you can browse through that to make your selections but please keep in mind that after the reservation is made, you can always come back and change them to another restaurant if there is availability there at the time you choose. We ate at the Tortuga, the Oriental (in the Dona Isabel hacienda), the Tequila and Frutos Del Mar restaurants. Oh and yes, for my birthday we selected the Alequin restaurant. They all serve wonderful fresh food. Keep in mind that most of the restaurants have a great buffet type appetizer and dessert set up but the gourmet restaurants do not. All served above average food. I rate fine dining restaurants here in Chicago and these meals could certainly compete with the fine dining restaurants that we have here. The buffet for breakfast was great and you can even make your own omlette if you so choose. Many different juices and sides items to go with your eggs such as chorizo sausage, potatoes, carmelized pineapples to name just a few. I know that many people do not feel the need to tip these hardworking bussers at the buffet but we did that daily because the way I look at it, they are working every bit as hard as any of the restaurant servers, maybe even more so, so please tip them. That means a lot to these energetic, always smiling hard working people. I was a little reticent about booking at such a large resort as I am not able to walk long distances so therefore the dilemma. I must say that I think that in my case, I may have been better off because there were all day long trams that travel between the villas and the lobby and some restaurants so I did not have to walk at all. Everything was included so we needed nothing. The drinks were great and the swim up bar was fun too....there was even a bar set up on the beach. What more can you ask for? You must reserve the snorkel equipment at the little rental shack that sits near where the boat is tied down the morning that you want to snorkel. The activities pool had all sorts of entertainment during the day. We heard them playing bingo and the day we left we were approached by a nice young man that invited us to a pool side barbeque of sorts. Unfortunately we were leaving. Oh and I should mention that they have photographers that take photos of you on the beach and the stand to view them at the end of the day is between the front lobby and the buffet restaurant. You buy it if you like it and they have some beautiful little frames to put it in too. There is just so much to keep you wanting to stay here and I must say that I am ready to go back already. I have never wanted a time share before but if they had one here, I would certainly have to consider it. I liken this place to the Caribean DisneyLand..lol. If anyone has any questions that I might be able to help with please don't hesitate to write me at wkendz32@hotmail.com. Just write Akumal or something similar in the subject line so I don't delete it as junk. I'll have to post some of my photos as soon as I get them sized down a bit. If I have forgotten something I will post a sequel to this report...*s*.

My wifes family and I were there from Nov 21-26 and we also had a great time.. We had a total of 12 people (4 families) with 2 kids under 5 yrs old. I think the best thing regarding the whole trip was the attitude and hard work of the Mexican people. They would go out of their way to make sure you stay was unforgettable and do it all with a smile. I had traveled to Cozumel about 8 yrs ago and experienced the same service.

So Lindarella where did you find the best Margaritas? We were there at the same time and I found that the Lobby Bar made them the best(strongest).. and also the Beach Bar with the swings.

I think it depended on how busy the bartenders were. I never got one at the beach bar. I loved the resort and would go back in a heartbeat.

Thank you I stayed at the Coba, Dec11-18, It was nice to celebrate the Grand Opening the day before we left. It was quiet around there. Not bad, though not busy. It almost made no sense to open the new buffet or Fantastic Lobby for the traffic. We were looked after at the Premier (bpa) and Gold club. Ate everywhere anyway. There's a new theatre too beside the lobby and great niteclub with live groups. You''ll get the hang of the shuttles. They circulate all the time or just grab it at the Premier lobby. One comment re the "a la Cart" resturants. Food quality varied nite to nite. Sometimes over done and cold. Recommend that you don't order what is recommended, maybe precooked(?) Staff was great but the chefs maybe prima donnas.
