Hola everyone, we just got back yesterday from BPA. We were scheduled to stay at BPT, but on the apple bus from the airport, they told us they still were not accepting guests, and we would be upgraded to the Akumal side.Tulum side is now accepting guests. We actually got grey wristbands ( VIP )which allowed us unlimited reservations at the ala carte restaurants. We had a junior suite (a sofa, and table with chairs) along with the king size bed. Let me tell you, this place is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had excellent service..I took some small gifts, and gave them away along with cash to our hosekeeper, mini-bar boy, wait staff, and bartenders. They all were so appreciative. When we left, our mini-bar had 15 beers still in it. He brought a new six-pack every day! The food at the buffets was great and the restaurants were fabulous. We hit 4 different ones for the week. We also did not have to pay for our safe key in the room.We went expecting a charge. We went to chichen-itza.......FANTASTIC.!!! ( A little intimidating, when I got to the top) The resort is very clean...indoors and out. Weather was great!! We want to return in March. Our trip was wonderful.......there was only one problem.....I did not meet one LG. I searched for coolers, asked everyone I met,(they thought I was nuts) but did not find one. Where were you all hiding??????? I was the girl that almost passed out trying to get my picture taken with the iguana on my back Idid it and now I have the proof. Please feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to answer...You guys all helped so much. Btw, if you like laying in the pool, definately pack a blow up floaty. We took ours, and I'm so glad we did. Someone is probably laying on it as we speak. Adios!!!!!!!!!! Honeyb

I'm glad you had a wonderful trip! I'm surprised that no other LG'ers were there. How about posting the pic of you & the iguana?

I'm glad your trip was wonderful! It seems most people who go have generally positive comments.

I am going for the 1st time 12/20 for six nights. I'm sure our problem will be when it is time to go back to reality. We will be sad that we only reserved six nights! Oh well - some vacation is better than no vacation.

tanseeker, it really was hard coming back.....I had a huge lump in my throat, I know we'll be back soon. Yes, you can snorkel from the beach. Some of our friends did it. We took one day to Chichen-itza, which basically took the whole day, it was worth it. We walked the beach a little, did some kayaking, ate drank, and soaked in the sun!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, they were fun to just hang out with everone in the pool at the pool bar. A couple people asked us where we got them, and were dissapointed we brought them from home, we had extras and agve them away. Have fun blowing them up.

Honeyb, Glad you had a great trip to the BPA.
We arrived on 11/18 building 48 just across from Lobby Bar and
theatre. Watched all the beautiful weddings from our patio.
Sorry we did not meet.

Thanks for the report. I think we will be staying here in February. We've never been, so am just more than a bit apprehensive about picking a place. Reports like yours help with the anxiety!

Honeyb,
It is a great idea taking a floatie. Every year I think about it, but when we travel in January they are very hard to find. If only I could remember to pick up a couple in the summer

Hi Honeyb,

I am glad you had a good time. I will be at the Bahia Principe COBA on Dec 11/05 to Dec 18/05 for the first time to Mexico. Any report on this resort? BH Coba is suppose to be on the other side of BH Akumal.

I want to bring some snorkeling gear with me when I am there. Is it even necessary?
Any info on excursions - deals and cost?

Thanks for the info for the floaties. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds great!

My girlfriend and I will be going this Sunday Dec11 (6:40a.m. Uggh) and news is scarce about BPCoba.

What sort of gifts for the staff do you recommend?

How clear was the water? I plan to scuba and snorkel, any suggestions for Dive Shop?

How was the Internet at the Hotel? Any chance of VOIP to call home? (Toronto CAN)

Food- "a la carte" vs buffet?

And lastly but most importantly; Floaties? What type? In a pinch I was thinking of using a large Mesh Laundry bag with noodles (styrofoam) on the sides and head.

HoneyB,

Are there close places to walk to for a good snorkel experience? I wish I had a trip planner ... kind of like wedding planners, ya know? We'll be there for 10 nights and really want to have a blast!
