So I think I have said it in previous posts but my mom has a torn rotator cuff that she refuses to have surgery on until June. She does pretty well with it for the most part but last weekend she tweaked it really bad and we are not sure if we are going to be able to go. So to avoid losing any more money we have cancelled our reservation at HAC. We have plane tickets and will be making a pretty last minute (for May 6) choice on going or not.

Now we chose HAC because it is small and not an AI. But with my moms shoulder flair up we think maybe an AI might be a good idea since everything is right on property.

I want to make a list of possible resorts to have ready when we get close to time to choose from based on availability and price. The most important thing to us is a swimable beach. We would love snorkeling. Anybody wanna throw out some ideas for me to reseach?

Sorry so long...super sad

I am blonde (and gray), I am not clear, but is your Mom going with you?

If so, Palladium only asks for 24 cancellation I believe. If you book directly with
them, you pay when you arrive.

Good Luck and I hope your Mom heals quickly. I work with a youngish man that has
had both shoulders done. He was out of commission for 6-8 months each time.

Yes, my mom is going with me. I think the recovery is why she is draging her feet so much. Thanks for the advice, will look into it.

If there are no kids Catalonia Royal Tulum might be a nice choice. It is a small resort on a great beach for swimming and walking and also has pretty good snorkeling. Lovely resort and not too far from Akumal if you want to take a day trip.

You might find that HAC would be better than an AI. It is only a few steps to the beach, the pool, several restaurants and some shopping as well as a couple of doctors close by. Any AI is going to require much more walking and stair climbing. We almost always stay at HAC or the Hotel for at least part of our trip, don't do any cooking and the only walking involved is what we want to do for excercise. We've stayed at ABR five times and even though it is a very small resort there is more walking and much more stair climbing required there than our stays at HAC. In any of the larger resorts you will have long walks or have to ride shuttles to the beach, restaurants, etc.

Thanks for you thoughts Whale. I would love to stay at HAC. The big problem with them is their cancelation policy. If at the last minute my mom decides it is a no go we will not get any money back for our hotel. When it gets closer to time and we are sure that we are going I will look at HAC for their availabiliy. I was just thinking it is such a small hotel they may not have anything open by then. But you are right, those AI look massive! Are there any that are on the smaller side besides ABR?

OK. I hope you get to go. And, what is HAC? I would love to take my parents to our new favorite place and HAC sounds great with not much walking. We have stayed only on HMB and none of the places there would suit my parents.

I have torn my rotator cuff (yes, I know....) and the Labrum muscle along with it.
It is only day surgery and then you go home in an immobilizing sling.
Get the "ice cooler" machine and ice regularly.
DON"T PUT IT OFF, as more damage will occur to the area.!

Need more info, PM me.

I shredded the biceps tendon and tore the labrum in my left shoulder in October. Had surgery right before Christmas. I'm back at the gym working out for our next trip in two weeks. The procedure is non-invasive now and you can recover from it in 6-8 weeks. I went back to work as an electrician three weeks after surgery. Get 'er done!
The difference in pain levels before and after was significant, even in a few days.
I'll be 63 in three months so age shouldn't be an issue.

My mother's doctor told her it is a deep tear and she would be off work a minimum of three months. She will not even be able to start therapy for 6 weeks. I will let her know what you all have experienced.
