Hola LGs.
In the past, if I have not rented a car, I have loyally engaged USA transfer.

http://www.usa-transfers.com/

I have heard of a few kudos elsewhere about Canadian Transfers. Does anyone here know, or have experience of Canadian Tranfers?

Used them Hotel Akumal Caribe March 4 and back to airport March 15, two passengers.

On time and on price, I paid $60 down cash and held the $47 balance cash until return.
I phoned them to remind about return but probably wasn't necessary. Smart to do though.
No complaints, drivers didn't speak much English, free stop at 7-11 for beer.
Probably could pay for grocery or liquor store stop?
USA transfers have always been good in the past, but $20USD paid the driver's tips.

I have always used USA transfers, but this new one will be my next choice. Better the 23 bucks in my pocket, than theirs!

I hear ya Fins. That is one of the things that caught my attention too.

nevertoolate, thanks for relating your experience. Did you pay in advance online? Credit card?
If so, it sounds like their operating model is similar to how USA currently operates.

Muchas gracias for the information.

They are getting great reviews on the other travel site. You a can order most any kind of beer for a $1 each for the ride, so no stopping. We have never used a private transfer, but will give Canada Transfers a try this time.

@palapaboy, I paid cash and was prepared to pay all upfront, like USA right?,
But they didn't seem to be able to provide a receipt,
instead offering pay half now and half at pickup.
I had my cash ready so just buried 47USD deep to keep for return.
I tipped with pesos, just 100 each way if I remember right.
Was that enough? Driver seemed ok with it.
Bought a couple bottles of wine at 7-11 along with beer, and a coke for driver.
Concho y Toro reservado merlot and a Cabernet, not too bad,
But probably available at Chomak for about the same price.

Steve where does it show about ordering the beers ahead of time for a buck?? I was just on their site and couldn't find that info anywhere o there. That's a great deal if it is available. Would certainly make me a believer in a hurry!!!

www.canadatransfers.com

On the left hand side, just below the search for transfers section there is a blue bar.
In the blue bar It says" Free water on arrival" and below that it says "Preorder beers and softdrinks on dollar each"

here is a previous thread on them

http://forums.locogringo.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1523986&mpage=1&key=canada%2Ctransfer

I talked to the owners running the firm - I believe they used to work for USA Transfers - all new vehicles - cool faceclothes in the van, free water, supposedly pay in Canadian cash, sunscreen and bug spray to order

We only need transport from the villa in Akumal to the airport. We have booked canada transfers, but found out later that usa transfer won't even do one way to the airport, only one way from.

Kermit ... wonder when this changed as I did a one way from Akumal to the airport with USA last year. Their website clearly states one way from Akumal 80 bucks.

Taking Canada transfers next month.

Me too Kermit, was planning on taking USA one-way from Akumal to the airport. Hopefully they are dropping someone off nearby and can fit me in.

Most times taxis are just as cheap going back to the airport

Private transfer is good if more than 3 of you though or lots of luggage - large vans

Not true. I just booked USA Transfers two days ago and have received my confirmation voucher for one way transfer, Akumal to the airport. The only difference is for a oneway transfer to the airport you must prepay on line using their PayPal account.

This is the email I received when I requested one way to the airport. I was never told to book it online and pay with paypal, which I didn't want to do anyhow as I want to pay in Canadian funds.

"Hola Bren,

We can provide private ONE WAY trip airport transfer from CUN airport to the hotel for $80 1 to 3 People, $85 for 4 to 7 people and $89 for 8 to 10 people. Price is per vehicle, not per person, and includes Flight Tracking, airport meet and greet, private non-stop direct transfers, taxes, fees, parking, insurance. It does not include tip to the driver if warranted.

You can book it in the link below:
http://www.entertainment-plus.net/transfers/akumal-transfers.asp

Please let me know if you require any assistance or have any questions.

Have a nice day!!

Yeah I see that. But what it looks like to me, and I think you may have been thinking the same thing by your last sentence is that they got it mixed up as to which one way transfer you were requesting. The one way from the airport to resorts you can pay in cash when you arrive. But all other transfers that do not start out at the airport must be prepaid at the time of booking. Wifey and Bub found this out when they booked a transfer from the Isla Majures ferry dock to Akumal a year or so ago. After I checked I found out that this the rule.
