Just booked an unplanned but very much needed week away from thinking and way too much snow!!! We were looking for the elusive "last minute deal" but to no avail. Prices here go up as the travel date gets closer!!! ABR was booked up for Easter break so we decided to try Posada Del Mar on Isla Mujeres as opposed to trying one of the all inclusives in Cancun. Just need some sun and relaxation. Any thoughts on Posada now that we've booked it ;) Also, can we just catch a taxi at the airport to the ferry or should we book a transfer in advance? Thanks for your input.

We stayed at Posada for 5 nights in 2010, right after they opened their new section. Rooms were modern, AC worked great, it's right across the road from the beach, and JAX's bar is 3 buildings up the road! Awesome coconut shrimp!

We LOVED Isla and I long to go back there.

The beginning of this trip report includes our first days on Isla!

Have a great time on Isla, in the process of booking Posada del Mar right now for four nights in May, it is a popular place. Been to Isla 6 times but just never stayed at Posada because until a few years ago, they did not have fridges or in room safes, both of which are a must for me. So this time I am staying in the new building which has those features.
The food is so great there, for such a small island there is something like over 100 restaurants, and that is not counting the street carts which I plan to try this time - bring on the Bimbo dogs and marquesitas!

Thanks for the responses. We are feeling good about our booking Posada we stayed 2 nights at Ixchel Beach Hotel a couple years ago and loved it but we were hoping to tighten the budget this trip.... its very last minute for us. We loved the vibe of the island and very excited about going back! Looking into booking our taxi! Thanks again!

Posada del Mar is in a great location - walking distance to everything.  So many great beach bar/restos, Playa Norte is lovely, the sunsets are amazing, the colour of the water takes your breath away and Isla is just the perfect, laid-back place to be.  We had a fabulous week there last Fall - stayed at the far end of the island in a lovely condo just 5 mins away from Villa Rolandi.  Returning at the end of this year, but this time renting a condo at Ixchel on Playa Norte - we loved the peace and quiet of the Southern end of the island, but are looking forward to being in the middle of everything and not having to hop into a cab every time we went to eat.  Reading Fins Trip Report and seeing her pics has made me want to go back NOW!!!
