newbies here..we are just about 2 weeks out from La Joya...after reading alot of the restaurant reviews we are looking forward to eating at the following places....
our question: what do you think is THE "absolute, must have, can't miss" at the following...
1.) Que Onda
2.) Cueva Del Pescador
3.) Turtle Bay
4.) La Lunita
5.) TequillaVille?

We know it's much to ask, and probably been covered....but we really would like some input.....thanks Kevin and Mary

They're all great, really!

Que Onda - Pasta Maribel or Viva Mexico
Cueva - The whole fried fish, of if you don't like it staring at you, the fish fillet, breaded or in garlic and butter. The ceviche is awesome too!
Turtle Bay - everything, every meal
La Lunita - everything
Tequillaville - I actually haven't eaten there much, but it's always great!

Agreed as to Scott's post above -

Lucy's Tacos for fish or shrimp tacos and homemade ice cream is must. As is the Loncheria for good cheap eats.

Also, El Taco Maya in the Pueblo is very good.

WHAT

No Lol-Ha (although their stuffed burger was tastey and their sliders)

Tequilaville for their Coconut Shrimp and hamburger as well

Cuevo - seafood platter

LBV- hmmmmm (give me time - I'll think of something)

Scott pretty much nailed it. I do have to say that on our longer trips, after about 10 days of eating mostly seafood, I really crave a big juicy hamburger and Turtle Bays' is one of the best I have had anywhere!

Chamico's. If you love seafood.

All the ones you mentioned are equal, but different. Sort of depends on the mood too.

If you have the time try Imeldas which is located behind the CEA building. They are open for lunch and have good food and a great price. All of your other choices are great too.

Sadly , the tacos from Lucy's tacos were no longer available from Turtle Bay the new owners at their main restaurant unless something has changed recently . We love everything else there . You don't have La Buena Vida on your list , one of your closest options . We've only had a few meals there but they were wonderful .

Here's a commercial that's been running lately at my house , Pretty funny

This was posted by Turtle Bay not long ago about Lucy's. (For those of you who are unaware, both of these places are owned by the same awesome peeps!)

First of let me Thank Everybody for their support of Lucys Kitchen here in Akumal.
We have been closed through no fault of our own due to some structure issues of the current Lucys Kitchen.
Working in with the property owners we have settle upon a resolution for Lucys.
I am thinking that we will be in our new structure within the next month or two. Lucys will still be located in the same area of the property with the same outdoor sitting space.
Until then we will be offering Lucys Ice Cream & Tacos at Turtle Bay.
We just set up the ice cream machine and I should have a batch of Salted Caramel rolling out in a little bit. Next will be
Chocolate Habanero followed by Pumpkin.
We will be serving theses ice creams and other assorted items like Dessert Shots, Cookies and Cupcakes at The Taste of Playa
this Sunday so please come see us.
If your looking for great Tacos that are not fried check out the Bakery Taco offerings.
The Tacos Boracho are served with local grilled fish and the what seems to be a really big hit are the
Blackened Fish Taco with Black Bean-Mango Salsa and Poblano Cream.

Thank You so much for your time and patience and we look forward seeing all of you in the future.

Yes... you must try the Loncheria lunch counter. I agree. Cheap, authentic, good and fresh. Neat atmosphere as well.
