Just back from a weekend stay with friends who rented a condo in the Quinta Maya building in Puerto Aventuras. Absolutely lovely! Had a wonderful time. Great amenities in the unit (washer, dryer, dishwasher, cook top with 4 burners, small oven, microwave, ceiling fans, TV, stereo, wifi) and superb location. Relatively new, well looked after, directly on the ocean. Unit was large enough that the 4 of us didn't feel like we were tripping over each other. Only drawback ... snorkeling out front sucked. Not much to see in terms of fish or coral, and lots of current action. But, Akumal and other snorkel spots not far away. But otherwise, very positive experience. Might consider renting there myself one day.

Yup, Fatima Bay is very shallow, didn't see any real 'coral heads' except a few. Winds were very high for a number of days, and I was suffering from some inner ear thingy which made me sea sick even snorkeling. Next year my mission IS to get over into the Caleta to snorkel....

Saw these on my early morning snorkel one day the water was flat.

TWO huge Jack Cravelles came torpedoing by me...so close I could only grab 2 pictures

I also saw the biggest permit I've ever seen that morning, but he was so close, and I had my camera off as I wasn't expecting to see much. After seeing him so close and so huge, I stood up...water was only mid thigh deep!

First snorkel way way out, I did see a pair of turtles crossing the bay...too far way for me to get a half decent picture though

Thanx for the TR-so is this the small bay that Dreams is on? From looking on google earth, it looks shallow. BUT- not a total bust for you, FINS, eh?
