Anyone know of any safe Tattoo shops near Akumal? And I am refering to real tattoo's and not Henna.

Welcome to LG, Handy!

I think you will find what you are looking for closer to Playa or Cancun. I haven't explored Tulum enough to say whether there is a good shop there, but I have never seen one close to Akumal.

I have had this discussion on a Vegas board. I understand wanting to commemorate a trip, but I would not want to mess with the care of a tattoo whilst on vacation. Especially a beach vacation.

Yes I can! I have gotten 3 tattoos in Mexico and I love them all. 2 in Puerto Vallarta and 1 in Playa Del Carmen.

I went to Scream Ink in Playa Del Carmen for my tortuga tattoo.

The shop is clean, reputable, conveniently located and they do a fabulous job! They are highly recommended on the Playa forums as well. If I wanted another tattoo, I would not hesitate to return to this shop! I do recommend that you schedule your sitting for your last day in Mexico as you can't expose a fresh tattoo to water and sun.

Thanks for all the advise and yes I was thinking of commemorating the trip but on second thought I will try to drum up a design while on the beach and drinking cerveza's and have it done at home just to be safe.

We leave tonight and get to Cancun at 6 AM

Can't wait.
