Not much is mentioned here on this site about this place. It looks nice and quite and I know snorkeling can be had there. What experiences has anyone had there? Are the meals any good at the hotel/resturant there? And are the price fair?

I am referring to Paamul beach. Sorry about the spelling. There are some reviews out there but wanted to hear what this group had to say.

Hung out there a few years ago, and had a great, cheap lunch. I forgot about that place...I will give it a try again next week!

Ate lunch there twice, did not snorkel since I did not have my suit on. The shrimp stuffed avocado is good, plenty of shrimp and the price . was fair. They have a little pool which you can use if eating or drinking there. About 20 cabanas, looks cute, but I would want a car if staying there, not much there. Nice place though. Very peaceful and relaxing.

want a reply from someone that is lucky enough to live in PaaMul?? Yes, it is a very quiet, laid back community--the perfect place to relax. Every day we have day trippers come in just to escape the crazy masses. the snorkeling is good, the beach is pretty and you will get some good food and drink at the restaurant. we also have one of the better dive shops in the area and last but not least the bar makes a mean pitcher of sangria! I hope you enjoy your visit.

Sol Man, We saw one shot on Xpu Ha beach in Oct of 11. About 4 months later we saw it on TV. Pretty cool. CB

Wow, to think I inspired some of you to go visit this place. As for nothing to do? Doing nothing and having all day to do it is just what I am planning if I ever get down there again. Looks like I have seen the last of Akumal beach. Very sad it will be alll built up by a resort.

My wife, son, and friend were to Paamul, in Sept. 2012, first time there. Took Collectivo from ABR, and walked in to the beach. Beautiful spot, not many there, enjoyed some snorkeling, ate at the restaurant, best fish I had all week, although a little pricier than other places we've eaten at there. But the view is great. My wife used the nice pool while we snorkeled. The lady at the little hotel there left me see one of the rooms, very nice, and looked new to me. Large room, small kitchenette with microwave and coffee maker right on the beach. Think we might try staying there one of our next trips down. Off season price for a week was only $595. I would like to tell you the place is horrible and don't go to keep you away, but if you like to explore new places, put Paamul on the list.

I have several pix from Paamul in the first installment of my trip reports. I have met some great people at ScubaMex dive shop, and met a charming lady, Marie, who recently built there last year. The one-on-one dive instruction I got there for my certification last year, my camera dives, and my refresher dive this year were OUTSTANDING. If your diving skills are not that of a seasoned pro, I would highly recommend the TLC these guys and gals can provide. There are a lot of dive instructors that go out on a regular basis. Now as Reefhugger commented earlir, The one refresher dive I di was quite crowded - 15 divers I think. But there were about five sub groups - each with there own dive instructor in the smaller group. The owner, John Evertt, was the over all diver master on that day. My individual instructor was Jim Rennick. Glenda led a group of five from the resort. That dive was pretty crowded because it was too windy and rainy to go out the previous day, and there were a lot of antsy people on the next windless, sunny morning. TMB
