ORIGINAL: jackfish Hi all staying at A B R Have Friends coming just for a Visit can they just walk Through out to the Beach. ABR prefers that visitors purchase a day pass so don't be offended if they say something.

just walk Through out to the Beach. Security will not let them in through the ABR gate without them purchasing $50 day passes Have your friends go into Akumal Playa by the Lol-Ha and walk down the beach to ABR or you can meet them in Akumal (playa)

I am curious about the day pass.. some say it is $35.00 and some say it is $50.00... has anyone did the day pass recently and what was the cost? I am thinking paying a day pass would be nicer so you won't have to lug chairs to the beach and order beers from Lol Ha's.. not that that is bad either... When you are sitting in the snow both sound really good...

Either convenience store in Akumal sells it for 1/2 the price. Cold. Buying lunch at the Loncheria (small lunch counter set up beside the Super Chomak is not expensive and very good. Not sure what you mean by lugging chairs down to the beach.... you can't do that on the main beach in Akumal... unless you're bringing your own. You can rent chairs at the Lol Ha... but most people just set up with their towels etc under one of the palm trees dn go for a snorkel or sunbathe. You can walk quite far south towards ABR as there is more public beach. It's highly debatable whether a day pass is worth the $ it will cost you. YOu can buy a lot of beer and food in the town of Akumal for $70-$100... and I don't believe the day pass at ABR includes dinner.

Daypass is good from 10am to 6pm and they do not serve dinner until 7pm, so you only get lunch and snacks from the snack bar, drinks, use of the beach and pool, etc. I'd just meet your friends at the Lol-Ha for drinks and maybe lunch. You can rent loungers if you want for 50 pesos pp for all day or just plop your towel down on the sand, done both.
