Buenos Dias.

This is my first time being able to travel to the RM in April. (it’s my birthday month – yay!) I typically go May/June and have been a little sad when it rained the majority of my vacations, and when it wasn’t raining, it was overcast and windy, i.e., not ideal snorkeling. So, my question to you good folks is on average how’s mid-late April and do you think (from all of your years of experience) it’ll be calm on HMB? I know you can’t predict the future, but those that went in April, what was your experience? And btw I am not a novice (in fact I’m a diver), I visited HMB in May but didn’t go in.

(I have read the old threads w/ maps and safety warnings and will print out stuff, re-read and all that jazz. Por favor, no lectures. I respect the ocean, the beautiful creatures, and its power. I am not one of “those”! I will smack a b*tch if I see you standing on coral or touching turtles.)

-Angela

Pam and I will be staying on HMB from April 10-24. We should get together at LBV for happy hour. This will be the first time we've been in April. (We've done Jan, Feb, Aug, Sept, Oct.) We don't dive but snorkle almost every day in the morning. I'll be on the look out for fishing companions a couple of times. You can find me most nights at Cueva shooting pool until closing.
We will have a car and are doing daytrips. definitely a day in Valladolid, Muyil, maybe Coba and we are hitting the cenotes (i've got a list of about 20) If anyone wants to come along, pm me and I'll keep in touch.

Angela, we've been in April a couple of times, mostly the weather was better than March (we seem to have had lots of windy days when we were there in March), but not quite as good as May.
We will be going in either April or May this year, can't book until next month, probably staying on HMB, it would be nice to see you again.

That's it! I'm going to buy lottery tickets, right now! I can't take it. I need to figure out a way to get down there, with you all. Hey PJ, do ya think you can promise Berto that you'll keep ME under control? haha
He has to work, but I have lots and lots of paid time off.

Oops, I guess I should've mentioned I want to wake up in the morning, put on my fins and snorkel HMB. (i might book a dive trip w/ the dive shop, not sure yet)

I only got to snorkel Akumal Bay twice when I was there last May. (I would've been out there every day had it not been windy/choppy and overcast)

OMG, You'll have so much fun if you're there at the same time as PJ & Shells and I'll definitely have some fine Tequila if I'm around then.

Great news! We love the casitas there, we've probably stayed in the upper one a half dozen times, which one did you book?

#9, ground floor. I think I am going to quite enjoying being able to open the sliding glass patio door facing the beach while I have my coffee in the morning. :)

Ang, there are a table & chairs right outside those doors that is perfect for morning coffee. Also, there is a nice area to sunbath up on the roof of Playa Blanca, great views of the ocean and jungle from up there.
