Just wondering because we want to rent one (or my husband wants to because he likes driving cars you can't get in the US in Tulum.
Last year we had a Jeep Liberty or Patriot (whichever's smaller) which worked great for 4 adults and one 5 yr old. It's only my husband
and I and our luggage from the airport but we're meeting our friends in Tulum. Last year we had the Jeep and the 5 of us drove around
a lot and it was comfortable but it's also almost twice as much as the Fiat. Just wondering if anyone's ever rented one and if it seemed *super* small? Would the 5 of us be comfortable just for driving around Tulum and maybe a short trip in to the Reserve? Thanks in Advance.

Nice commuter car.

Depending on the condition of the road, I would not recommend taking that vehicle down that road. It is better now, but here is video of our conditions last summer. Maybe rent a sturdier vehicle for the trip into the SK.

I wish Easyway had this model.

Does the panda actually drive the car or does he just go along for the ride?

You can honestly drive any car into the Sian Kaan Reserve, just watch out for big rocks or deep mud in the road. Back in the old days when most rental cars were old VW bugs, people did it all the time! You don't need a truck to drive down there ;).

Thanks Everyone,

ChicagoCraig, that video is hilarious! Especially the commentary. Technically the Fiat is a 4x4 but I understand that's all relative.
Scott, we did the old VW thing in the Biosphere in about 1994 & 95! The roads were much worse then and it wasn't just in the reserve
but almost all the way to Tulum from Playa.

I guess I was wondering more about the size of the car and wether it would be ok (I know not as comfortable as the jeep) but ok for
4 adults and a little 5 yr old. Also, not to throw another wrench in the works but my husband is 6'4' and he'll be the one driving most of the time.
We had a VW pointer a few years ago but it was just the two of us. We're there for 12 days and we got the jeep last time because we also drove
to Merida for a few days.

I drove one in Italy a few years ago. Neat little car...wish they sold it here  It is rated as a "super-mini" in the UK so is on the small side.  OK for 4 adults but it will be a very tight squeeze in the back seat depending on how big the child is. Underpowered when loaded with 5 people but who is in a hurry in the 'Roo (other than the locals)?

SteveO just posted that the road was in good shape - fingers crossed it'll be that was in a few weeks too
