We stay there every chance we get. We'll be going back in March. I love the peace and quite there and he now has a pool. Sometimes it like being in a private resort. He does little or no advertising. The rooms are basic, he welcomes you with a basket of goodies in your room. At least he does this for us. There is a tienda in the parking lot that is run by his wife Sylvia. The rooms have air conditioners. Some things may not be as upscale or 'nice' as you might be use to. Example...the last time we were there some of the beach chair cushions were either wore out or missing but because we were the only ones there we just got some from down the beach. It's been a year and a half since we've been there so not exactly sure the conditions as of late. Another suggestion if you want complete privacy, check out Lake Bacalar. We stay at a private house called Manatee in the Moon. You can google it. It is very private but no air conditioner. You are off the grid there! Happy hunting!

Was there for drinks a couple weeks ago. He now has a fishing/dive boat so is expanding his operation. In another way he is downsizing, as he said he would soon be a single man again.

All I can say is what a major disappointment! We decided to go here for the day on Feb 2 to hang on the beach and eat. We walked and walked and walked....next time taxi for sure! The cenote across the street looks very beautiful, when we walked around to the restaurant and beach we we were shocked. The beach is dirty and if I could remember how to post a picture I would show the pile of whatever it is just behind the beach lounges and below the outer deck of the eating area. It looks like the bbq remnants or coals from their Sunday dinner??? It is HUGE smelly and very unattractive to be right there where you are sitting. We stayed all of 10 minutes and continued our long walk on down to Chamicos. The reviews misled us in a big way from Sac Be to this site. We thought we were going to find a great place to park and celebrate husbands birthday......it was just too "dirty", perhaps the food is good but we could not get over how dumpy it was.

I'm not sure if you remember.....but we had dinner with you two at Casa Cenote back in 2007....or was it 2008. You introduced us to Gary and he took us all on a tour of his remodel....pool included. I believe we were staying in a little place without electricity on Tulum beach on that trip. Anyways...I remember we met up for drinks and then we ended up having dinner. I remember it was a fun night. The last we visited Casa Cenote was last April for some BBQ and pink margs. It was fantastic and beautiful as always. Dan and I are looking for a small quiet place the spend 3 nights and Casa Cenote came to mind. We are also debating something in Tulum....or maybe Hotel Vista del Mar. We really just want to veg on the beach with an icy adult beverage in our hands. Do you have a pics of the rooms at Garys place? -Lisa Hi Lisa, yes that was us. That was March 2008 our 25 wedding anniversary, we are going back next month to celebrate our 30th! You guys were about to be married in Akumal a few months later right? I don't really have any good pictures of inside the casitas. There are some on his web site. Another place to consider is Xamach Dos. Four casitas, resturant, good people and lots of beach! When are you planning on going?

[image] [/image] This is the pile of something directly behind our lounges. Maybe we were there on an off day and they hadn't cleaned up yet? Either or ....we were turned off by it and disappointed, decided to move on rather than look and smell that all afternoon. It was not freshly heaped there had been around awhile.....

We stayed at the villa next door to Casa Cenote in 2007. Nothing about the place impressed us either.
