Knowing most travel in couples, esp on Caribbean side, am wondering if there is a list, or section where other solo snorkelers are looking for a snorkel buddy? know we are advised not to snorkel alone..but if its a choice between having a buddy ,and snorkeling..or not having a buddy=no snorkelling, you can bet, will snorkel alone , rather then miss it (is why am going, partly). So, if anyone else is going solo, and wants to snorkel with a buddy...am 60 yo, female, good swimmer. OR if anyone knows where i can find a snorkel buddy list?????..lol...think the dive shop would know of such a person? LOL..its not exactly something you can turn to the person next to you on the beach and say.."hey, watch me snorkel ok"?plz?...lol...thanks for any info u people have...

There's usually so many people in Akumal Bay that if you did run into trouble and signaled or yelled for help, it would be a strange day if the nearest person was more than a few second away. Going with a buddy is always best, but in Akumal Bay I don't think an experienced solo snorkeler is really in much danger, especially not if you wear a snorkel vest.
