Well after being terrified about all the bad trip reports we have been here for 3days now and this place is not at all what people have been saying.it is beautiful!!!!!! Rooms are nice food is good and staff is awesome, no sewer smell can't say much for the casa club side but to me it looks just fine and a shuttle is running back and forth all day just ask and they will be right there to get you.we are in the oasis Tulum side not the grand but seems like all the grand come to our side anyway so not worth the upgrade to me!! Much nicer than oasis cancun or oasis palm beach if you can handle staying in any super 8 hotel in Canada you will do just fine here ,if you are a Hilton kind of person maybe not! If west Edmonton mall is considered run down well so is this we tried to upgrade before we left to the grand side and it was 1000 extra very glad we didn't trow that money in the garbage to get 2extra alacarte .sorry my spelling and grammar sucks.anyway the place is awesome the wi if is 30 bucks for 5 days snorkelling is good lots of urchins but akumal is only 2 km if that.entertainment staff is great night shows are great and staff came up to s 3 times already to ask if everything is ok.well I hope this eases some people's mind I can answer questions if you have any fire away!!!!!!!!

Thank you for the update. I love this resort - we were there for the reopening in November and are going back in May. I do have a question - has the little pier been repaired and do the Oasis Tulum people have access or do you have to be in Grand Oasis? I was so surprised to hear all the bad reviews and the panic that just pretty much snowballed. Yes there are sea urchins out a ways and there were several guests who just ran into the ocean willy nilly without considering what might be under their feet. Well they found out. The Oasis Tulum and the ABR were the original AIs and have to be around 40 years old. Consider the salt water, hurricanes, substandard materials and construction and daily wear and tear there is no option but to tear down and rebuild some of ther buildings in both resorts. The recent bad reviews I've read seem to come from disgruntled guests that seem to think they are entitled to the more expensive new rooms and amenities while paying the lower rate. Also the completion date was another variable and the tour companies were not clear on that. These two resorts have always been very affordable and are on the best beaches in the area. So for you people that complain so much all I can say is go ahead and pay 2 or 3 times the price for the mega resorts.

Hi Angel - You should be just fine - your reservation is for Grand so that's what you would get. You will have a wonderful time and the snorkeling is awesome. A bit of dead coral rubble the first 5 feet or so after that easy snorkeling and great visibility. Urchins are a bit farther out, lots of fish and stuff. For anyone having a concern on what side they're booked on, I would recommend they contact their tour company to clarify. Anyway you should be good to go!

Thank you!! Thank you!! This was exactly what I needed to hear! We were stressing a little too after seeing all the bad reviews, but we're hoping for just what you are reporting! We did upgrade to an ocean front room, but not the Grand. Looks like that will be just fine for us. One question for you though....beach volleyball? Please tell me that's not a Grand only thing!! I will say the whole split resort thing doesn't seem like the best, but as long as there is sun, beach, and beer...I'm happy!
