I have seen several comments trashing Air Tran Airways. However, I am getting quotes from AA, United, Spirit, AeroMexico for upwards of $580. Yesterday, for a NON-STOP flight to Cancun at decent times, I got a quote for $415 RT!! Is AirTrans so bad that I should avoid it even at this price? Especially when I'm paying for 4 tickets. There baggage fee is $25. Thoughts?

We also flew AirTran last May from Buffalo to CUN and back, with a layover in Atlanta. The airline was fine and I would use them again. The nice part was the easy upgrade to first class. We only took advantage of the Atlanta to Cancun leg of the trip, but it was well worth the $60 extra to arrive rested and slightly buzzed. :)

I said this in another thread. We fly airtran all the time between Dayton and Tampa and have never had any trouble with them.

We've used them before, and would use them again if they were cheapest (factoring in cost of bags, seats, etc.) and the flight times were good. As far as the whole "is this a good price" thing - if you're comfortable with it, book and don't look back! (The only thing we will never, ever do again is fly thru Houston's Bush airport - worst experience ever, never going there again!)

I agree about George Bush Airport in Houston. Too big, too hard to get around, lost luggage.

One nice thing about Airtran - you can carry on a 24 inch suitcase, which might be enough space to avoid a checked bag (and fee). Thing I don't like - their award points disappear one year after being earned (though you can buy them back).

I have used them 3 times Vancouver to Cancun return and once Miami to Flint MI, never had a proble. One of my favorites. wish I could even get close to $415 return with any airline, I would be there ASAP. I would even fly UPS courier service or USPS if they went to Cancun
